Parsing Text File That Contains Pairs

May 9, 2015

I thought of processing line by line using scanner and then split each line in the ":" . But then i stuck, i only need the right part of the ":" so that i can save it to a class e.g. John Doe, 133456593, married etc.

Java Code: Name: John Doe
TRN: 133456593
Status: Married
Income: 22500
Receipts:

Receipt ID: 1
Date: 25/2/2014
Kind: Basic
Amount: 2000
Company: Hand Made Clothes
Country: UK
City:London
Street: Cambridge
Number: 10

Receipt ID: 2
Date: 28/2/2014
Kind: Entertainment
Amount: 500
Company: Floca Cafe
Country: Italy
City: Rome
Street: Piazza
Number: 4 mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

Reading Pairs Of Lines From A File?

Jul 19, 2014

This what the data file looks like -

5165168416516988798484984984984984

1556516846516518498
51688484979789798798798491

The problem was to make code which will combine consecutive lines which contain some data into one line and print it. I made a solution that works.

import java.util.NoSuchElementException;
import java.util.Scanner;

ArrayList - CSV File Parsing

Nov 18, 2014

I have to read this CSV file into an arraylist. Arraylist i call weight. The data in the csv file has 200 double values which is the weight of all the 200 bananas. Since the csv file is a string i guess I cannot create an double arraylist from scratch, but i have to parse the csv file afterwards, right? Well this does not work and ill show you the code in a bit, just need to state all my issues.

My second issue is how to be able to print out the the weight items (in this case bananas) next to the weight of the bananas taken from the array? This has to be done by constructor i assume? I just dont know how constructors work with arraylists.

Id like it to look something like this in the output window.

Banana 34,55
Banana 43,55
Banana 23,74

and so on (200 times)

so these are my issues, how to parse and how to print the arraylist weights and the item banana in the output window with constructor. Here is the code.

package Main;
import java.io.BufferedReader;
import java.io.FileReader;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.Serializable;
import javax.swing.JOptionPane;

Parsing CSV File - Column And Row Data?

Dec 19, 2014

I am trying to merge two files together using the Apache Commons CSV library. I figured it was easier to use this than to write my own implementation.

The first problem is that the output contains the underlying class logic and as a results my output contains a bunch of un-needed data. How do I get rid of this? I just want the column and row data, nothing else.

Example

I want this:

customerNo, firstName, lastName, birthDate, mailingAddress, married, numberOfKids, favouriteQuote, email, loyaltyPoints
1, John, Dunbar, 13/06/1945, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043

But I get this:

CSVRecord [comment=null, mapping=null, recordNumber=1, values=[customerNo, firstName, lastName, birthDate, mailingAddress, married, numberOfKids, favouriteQuote, email, loyaltyPoints]]
CSVRecord [comment=null, mapping=null, recordNumber=2, values=[1, John, Dunbar, 13/06/1945, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
Mountain View, CA 94043

The second problem is that I just want the row Headers from the first file, but the row headers from my second file are still being included in my output. I used withSkipHeaderRecord(true), but it didn't have the desired results.

Code is below.

import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
import java.io.FileReader;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.PrintWriter;
import java.io.Reader;
import java.util.ArrayList;

How To Make A Text File Only Use Lines In A Text File Beginning With A Certain Letter

Mar 15, 2015

I have a program that reads lines of text, but some of the lines of text aren't applicable and break the program. I'd like to put a letter in front of the lines in the .txt file I want to use, such as a #.

I need to make an if loop that'll check for the first letter on the line being #, and use the line in the program if true and skip if false. I'm guessing a boolean variable would be useful here to be true or false depending on the presence of #, but I don't know how to only read the first letter of each line, how can I do this?

NullPointException - Creating Pairs From Arrays

Oct 9, 2014

So in my java class we are suppose to ask for how many names are going to be entered, create an array of that length, and then store that many inputted names. We then take those names, alphabetize them, and create a set of pairs. For example, it might look like this:

How many people are there? 4
Please enter the names of those people:
Dana
Bob
Alice
Charlie

There are 6 possible pairings. They are:
Alice & Bob
Alice & Charlie
Alice & Dana
Bob & Charlie
Bob & Dana
Charlie & Dana

We are also suppose to account for less than two names (both 1 and 0 as well as negatives).

I keep getting a null point exception error and I can't figure out why. Even debugging in Eclipse doesn't give any pointers except that it is originating in line 76.

import java.util.Arrays;

Pickup Selected Text File And Read Line By Line And Output Text Into Visual Text Pane

Dec 12, 2014

I am checking how to do following task.

01. pickup the selected text file and read the line by line and output the text in to visual text pane.

what i did:.

01. I wrote code that read the text file and output in to jave console/ also some of the interface.

the code read txt file:

Java Code:

String fileName = "C:/Users/lakshan/Desktop/lawyer.txt";
File textFile = new File(fileName);
Scanner in = new Scanner (textFile);
while(in.hasNextLine()){

[code]....

so it will read any text file dynamically and output to the text pane in interface. I think scanner code must be execute after the select the file from the browser and set the scanned result in to variable. then later out put the var as string in some jswing component?

Which Iterator To Be Use To Create Instances From Feature Value Pairs (Mallet API)

Mar 12, 2015

I am tring to run LDA to generate some topics from txt files as the following one:

Document1 label1 forest=3.4 tree=5 wood=2.85 hammer=1 colour=1 leaf=1.5
Document2 label2 forest=10 tree=5 wood=2.75 hammer=1 colour=4 leaf=1
Document3 label3 forest=19 tree=0.90 wood=2 hammer=2 colour=9 leaf=4.3
Document4 label4 forest=4 tree=5 wood=10 hammer=1 colour=6 leaf=3

Each numeric value in the file is an indication of the number of occurrences of each feature (e.g., forest, tree) multiplied by a given penalty. To generate instances from such a file, I use the following Java code:

String lineRegex = "^(S*)[s,]*(S*)[s,]*(.*)$";
String dataRegex = "[p{L}([0-9]*.[0-9]+|[0-9]+)_=]+";
InstanceList generateInstances(String dataPath) throws UnsupportedEncodingException, FileNotFoundException {
ArrayList<Pipe> pipeList = new ArrayList<Pipe>();
pipeList.add(new Target2Label());

[Code] .....

I then add the so-generated instances to my model using the instruction model.addInstances(generatedInstances). The resulting output is described below.

It contains errors caused by the instruction model.addInstances(generatedInstances). Debugging my code showed me that the alphabet associated to the model is null. Am I using the wrong iterator?

name: document1
target: label1
input: TokenSequence [forest=3.4 feature(forest)=3.4 span[0..10], tree=5 feature(tree)=5.0 span[11..17], wood=2.85 feature(wood)=2.85 span[18..27], hammer=1 feature(hammer)=1.0 span[28..36], colour=1 feature(colour)=1.0 span[37..45], leaf=1.5 feature(leaf)=1.5 span[46..54]]

Read Text File Into Object Array And Creating Random Access File

Dec 8, 2014

I am working on a project that requires me to build a database with random access file, representing products, the base product contains a name (about 30 characters), a price (double), and a quantity (integer). I have worked on this project for probably 15+ hours and have tried so many things and feel like I've barley made any progress...

The part i am really struggling with is taking the data from the text file and creating an object array with it using the product class. Once ive accomplished that, i have to use that data to create a random access file with the data.

Here is the base Product class that must be used to create the objects for the array.

public class Product
{
public String pName;
public String stringName;
public double price;
public int quanity;

[Code] .....

And then here is the data from the text file that i must extract to use to create product objects.

Dill Seed,938,34
Mustard Seed,100,64
Coriander Powder,924,18
Turmeric,836,80
Cinnamon (Ground Korintje),951,10
Cinnamon (Ground) Xtra Hi Oil (2x),614,31
Cinnamon (Ground) High Oil (1X),682,19

These continue for about 40-50 entries, they are not separated by a blank line though i had to add those so it would display correctly, each entry is on its own line with name separated with spaces, then price after a comma, then quantity after the second comma.....

Read Text File Into Array Ask User To Save File And Print Data

New to programming. Am supposed to create a program that reads a text file (of integers) and computes a series of computations on these integers. I don't have the code for the integers in my code yet, (i know how to do those), but am struggling getting the array to simply print in the print writer. I have the user select a text file, read the file with a scanner, and then save the computations done from my code into another file. specifically, the problem is as follows: Write a program that uses a file chooser dialog to select a file containing some integers. The file contains an integer N followed by N integers. The program then uses a file chooser dialog to let the user specify the name and location of an output file to write results to.The data written to the output file will be as follows

(1) The original list of N numbers from the input file,
(2) The original list of N numbers printed in reverse order of how they appear
in the input file.
(3) The sum and average of these numbers,
(4) The minimum of all the numbers,
(5) The maximum of all the numbers.
