Personality Test Program Not Changing Array Values

Apr 1, 2014

I'm making a program for school that reads a text file with answers to a personality test and prints the temperament to an output file. Problem is, it sets the temperament for the first person to INFJ and then prints INFJ for the rest of the people too. My code is below, and the input file 'personality.txt' goes like this:

Betty Boop
BABAAAABAAAAAAABAAAABBAAAAAABAAAABABAABAAABABABAABAAAAAABAAAAAABAAAAAA
Snoopy
AABBAABBBBBABABAAAAABABBAABBAAAABBBAAABAABAABABAAAABAABBBBAAABBAABABBB
Bugs Bunny

[Code] ....

This is my Code :

public static void main(String[] args) throws FileNotFoundException {
welcome();
Scanner input = new Scanner(new File("personality.txt"));
PrintStream out = new PrintStream(new File("output.txt"));
int[][] outcome = new int[4][2];
double[] percent = new double[4];

Changing Values In Different Programs?

May 20, 2014

I'd like to make a simple cheat for an old game that's offline... It has no type of anti-cheat and I'd like to make a program that changes how much money you have... I think the first thing I have to do is get the data address or something like that by using cheat engine... How do I do that? After that how do I start using that info in my program and then send back a new value? Are there any classes that I should be importing and what methods do I use to do this?

Changing Values In Save File

Jul 26, 2014

I'm trying to change the value of bricks in my save file and for some reason it can't read the information.

public void addRecords(int brick, int log, int stone, int house){
x.format("%s%s
%s%s
%s%s
%s%s", "brick", " "+brick, "log", " " +log, "stone", " "+stone, "house", " "+house);
}

This writes information to my files. ^

public void addResource(String resource, int amount){
openFile();
readfile check = new readfile();
switch(resource){
case "brick":

[Code] .....

In my case "brick", It doesn't set the value when I try to read it. Here is the readResource method.

public int readResource(String resource){
System.out.println("Looking for " + resource);
String res = resource;
openFile();
while(x.hasNext()){

[Code] ....

Short version:

brick = check.readResource("brick");

This doesn't set brick to any value.

Combinatorial Queries - Changing Parameters Actual Values

Apr 30, 2014

I have a question about query execution strategy ...

Scenario: let's suppose I've to query a table with a query like

SELECT F1, F2, F3 FROM MYTABLE WHERE F1 = ? AND F2 = ? AND F3 = ?.

I need to execute this query changing parameters' actual values in a combinatorial way, until a combination gives back at least one row or all combinations are unsuccessfully tried. For instance, I may have this sequence of values:

(V1,V2,V3);
(V1,V2,"");
(V1,"",V3);
(V1,"","");

where V1, V2, V3 may by string values and V1 is always present, not null, and not blank in each combination.

A first strategy may be to prepare the statement, clear the parameters each time I execute the query, until stop condition is met.

I wonder if may be more efficient transform the query into

SELECT F1, F2, F3 FROM MYTABLE WHERE F1 = V1

and cycling over the cursor and, for each cursor row, verify if the returned tuple (F1,F2,F3) matches the combination (V1x,V2x,V3x). When at least 1 rows matches, or all combination are done, I'll exit iteration.

Changing JLabel Text From Anywhere In Program

Feb 18, 2014

I'm using NetBeans.

I have a JFrame with four JPanels, SensorLL, SensorLC, SensorCR and SensorRR. They are instances of the class SensorUI. Each has a JLabel called Sensor.

The class SensorUI has a method writeSensor that writes to the JLabel "Sensor". I will have four temperature sensors. I have not started the code to read the temperature sensors yet. I will have a timer that will run once a second. When it fires I will read the sensors and display the result in the

JLabel "Sensor" in each jPanel.

I use MyMain to call FrameDemo and create the JFrame and a method

in FrameDemo to add the JPanels using addObject.

I can use SensorLL.writeSensor will write text to JLabel Sensor while in Mymain.

Then I start the timer ReadSensor.

When it times out it calls SampleSensors

For an experiment, while in SampleSensors I try to write to the JLabel in the instance SensorLL with

SensorLL.writeSensor("xx_");

I can't because it says it can't find the symbol variable SensorLL in SampleSensors class.

How can I "get to" that JLabel text when ever I need to?

Java Code:

public class MyMain {
/**
* @param args the command line arguments
*/
public static void main(String[] args) {
// TODO code application logic here
//SensorUI SensorLL = null;
System.out.println("Start of main");
//Schedule a job for the event-dispatching thread:
//creating and showing this application's GUI.
FrameDemo.createAndShowGUI();

Can't Connect Nexus7 To Macbook To Test Program

Feb 16, 2014

I started with Eclipse and wrote the basic "Hello World" app and added a few other lines of a=5, b=9, println (a*b) etc. and ran the program in the screen.

Then I thought that perhaps I could move it onto my nexus 7 and see what it looks like there. [I have a lot to learn I suppose].

The first issue is that I can't connect my Nexus 7 tablet to me macbook pro without using "android file transfer" and then the computer does not show the device in the finder because it is running through the file transfer program.

I have done some research and changed the settings in the nexus to connect as a camera rather than storage but that doesn't work either.

So my main issue now is being able to get the program onto the device - can it simply be copied and pasted into one of the files on the device using the file transfer screen?

Writing A Program To Test Person Class

Nov 4, 2014

User-defined classes. The concept of getters and setters goes right over my head. Right now we're to write a program to test the Person class below. We have to create 2 instances of the class to test each constructor, and test each method.

class Person {
// Data Members
private String name; // The name of this person
private int age; // The age of this person
private char gender; // The gender of this person
// Default constructor
public Person() {
this("Not Given", 0, 'U');

[code]....

then my output will print out the name. But the assignment doesn't tell us to modify the Person class at all, just to create a tester one.

When I try something like: if (array.length == 0) on a null array, naturally I get a NullPointerException. I would try something like if (array != null) but both array length of 0 and null array are supposed to throw different expressions.

Swing/AWT/SWT :: Mini Paint Program - Changing Size Of Shapes

Jun 4, 2014

I am currently writing a small drawing program and I am having trouble with changing the size of the shapes. To do this, I have to access the arraylist shapes, check whether pressedX/pressedY is on any of the shapes in the arraylist using the findShape() method and then when released, uses moveBy() in the Rectangle/Oval/Line class and moveShape() in the miniDraw class to move the shape and draw it in the newreleasedX/releasedY position.

So far I think I have pin pointed the problem to being the method in all the shapes classes, that checks whether the pressedX/pressedY which is the on() method, and the findShape() method in the miniDraw class.

This is the minidraw class

Test Program That Prompt User To Enter N And Displays N-by-b Matrix

Nov 25, 2014

I did a problem from my book which is "Write a method that displays an n-by-n matrix. Each element is 0 or 1, which is generate randomly. Write a test program that prompts the user to enter n and displays the n-by-b matrix".

So if a user would enter 3, and output could be 0 1 1
0 1 0
1 0 1

So here's my question... I was able to get the program to work in the way my book describes (by just writing the code in the class with the main), but for practice, I want to learn how to do this OOP-style...

I'm not sure how to do this, though, since the method is a void method, so I can't seem to call it within a toString method.

import java.util.Scanner;
public class MatrixTest {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);

Transfer Random Array Values To A Separate Array?

Feb 16, 2015

filling out a Random array: An Array of Specific Length Filled with Random Numbers This time what I need to do is take the elements from this Random array and assign them to a new Byte array:

for(int i = 0; i < limit-10; i++) {
Random dice = new Random();
int randomIndex = dice.nextInt(array.length);
if (array[randomIndex] < 128) {
System.out.print(array[randomIndex] + " ");
} else if (array[randomIndex] >= 128) {
System.out.print(array[i] + " ");
}

byte[] noteValues = new byte[]

{ 64, 69, 72, 71, 64, 71, 74, 72, 76, 68, 76 }; //This is the byte array filled manually!

I've tried amending the manual input to fit in with the Random array, as follows:

byte[] noteValues = new byte[]
{ array[randomIndex] };

In this case, however, the Byte array can't interpret the int values. Also, if the Byte array is outside the 'for' loop, array[randomIndex] cannot be resolved.

Program Prints 2 Values Instead Of One

However, if I were to type "H" when it's player one's turn, it returns "Not a valid pit!"(like it should) but then it also returns 12. It shouldn't know that H is 12 because it's in a separate method. I'm confused as to why it's printing both values.
