Possible To Make Vertical Menu Instead Of Normal Horizontal One

Sep 18, 2009

I was wondering if it is possible to make a vertical menu instead of a normal horizontal one. Like this:

Menu 1

Menu 2

Menu 3

And when you then click on one of them you get:

Menu1

Menu2

Menui tem 1

Menui tem 2

Menui tem 3

Menu 3

Is this possible?

I'm new to java and I need changing the direction of these balls from a horizontal axis to a vertical axis bouncing in the center. I've tried reversing the integers but there seems to be something i've missed.

import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.event.*;

ArrayList And Object - How To Make A Menu

Jun 26, 2014

So i have a problem i want to make a menu that allows you to press 1 and then make lets say a Car,

The code would look like

Car car = new Car();

And then add to my list

cars.add(car);

If in my menu the person presses 1 again, will they add another car or will it override it

Also: how can i make a menu that doesnt allow you to press option 5 (something that requires you something that should be registered in other options ), until you registered them?

Reading Json Of Nested Menu Without Giving Menu Names In Java

Aug 14, 2014

I want to read json file as follow;

{
  "M": {
  "row": [
  {
  "col1": "c00"
  },
  {
  "col1": "c10",
  "col2": "c11"
  },
  {
  "col1": "c20",
  "col2": "c21",
  "col3": "c22"
  }
  ]
  }
}

Next to reading I need to assign to two dimensional array, but without giving "col1","col2","col3" a lot.

The array is for example, Array[3][] = {{"c00"},{"c10","c11"},{"c20","c21","c22"}};

Have Block Letters Come Out Horizontally Instead Of Vertical

Sep 2, 2014

I can make my program print block letters out in a vertical format but I need them to come out in a horizontal format.

public class MISSISSIPPI {
public static void main(String[] args) {
drawM(); drawI(); drawS(); drawS(); drawI(); drawS(); drawS(); drawI(); drawP(); drawP(); drawI();
}

How would I get those methods to come out in a horizontal fashion instead of vertical?

JavaFX 2.0 :: Horizontal Stacked Bar Chart

Sep 14, 2014

Using the sample, I tried to create a horizontal stacked bar chart, but it didn't render correctly.  Only a sliver of one bar shows and cosmetically the bar's rounded corners are at the top instead of the right side.

    @Override
    public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
        String austria = "Austria";
        String brazil = "Brazil";
        NumberAxis xAxis = new NumberAxis();
        xAxis.setLabel("Value");
        xAxis.setTickLabelRotation(90);

[Code] ....

Oddly, if I change the second series to this, then only one bar shows:

        series2.getData().add(new XYChart.Data(10, austria));
        series2.getData().add(new XYChart.Data(15, brazil));

Swing/AWT/SWT :: Construct A Vertical List Of JPanels

Feb 11, 2014

I am working on writing a desktop based email client using swing. First some specifics: I need to show emails in a (dynamically updatable) vertical list. Each item in this vertical list would represent an email showing: (a) the subject, (b) a photo of the sender that I have locally available & a couple of buttons. So, I plan to create a JPanel containing a JLabel to show the Subject, The photo inside a JLabel & JButtons. I have the layout of this panel done and is not a problem.

My problem is with stacking all these JPanels (each representing an email) and showing them on the UI as a list. I am not sure of any way to do this. Moreover, when a new email is received, it has to be displayed at the top of the list (not at the bottom).

Specifically, I need a good way of displaying a vertical list of JPanels & be able to add new JPanels at the top of the list.

When I run the jar from cmd it works as it should but the results all go onto new lines so all formatting is lost and it looks.. ugly...

somehow make it so the console has a forced horizontal scrollbar but dunno how.

Swing/AWT/SWT :: Positioning Slider Of Vertical Scrollbar Not Working

Apr 4, 2014

I have written a drum machine using Java. Into said drum machine I list all 47 available MIDI drums. The instrument list is placed into a JPanel, along with a gridArray of checkboxes. The JPanel is then in turn added to a scrollpane. I have listed the MIDI drums in order of 'ground-up'. For example, the bass drum is generally at the bottom of most drum kits, so it is at the bottom of my MIDI drums list. Next up would be the snare, followed by the cymbals, and then by all the specialty percussives. Since most beats are started from the 'ground-up', laying to foundation, so to speak, I want the scroll bar of the scrollpane which houses the JPanel, which in turn houses the instrument list and the beat checkboxes, to be positioned, upon opening, at the bottom of the scroll pane. Nothing I have tried works. It always positions the slider somewhere in the middle of the scroll track. Below is a listing of just the buildGUI portion of the code, all the MIDI functionality has been removed to keep the size of the post to this forum down.

import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import java.util.*;

public class BeatBoxG
{

JSF :: Passing Parameters From Normal List Object Without Using DataModel

Oct 9, 2014

How to use the id parameter in my documents entity to download documents from a list of documents. Normally I use ListDataModel and the getRowData method. I would like to know how to achieve the same thing using an ordinary List object.

My list of documents is called List<CountryDocs> selectedDocs;

<h:form>
<p:dataTable value="#{countryDocBean.selectedDocs}" var="docs">
<p:commandLink id="download" value="Download" ajax="false">
<p:fileDownload value="#{countryDocBean.downloadedFile}"
contentDisposition="attachment"/>

[Code] ....

Clicking on the download link calls the following method in my managed bean:

@ManagedBean(name = "countryDocBean")
@SessionScoped
public class CountryDocBean {
private List<CountryDocs> selectedDocs;
public StreamedContent getDownloadedFile() {

[Code] ....

Debugging shows the value for the id is 0 and this results in a NullPointerException. I've tried several methods for grabbing the document id in my backing bean, but no luck yet. I also read about the the ViewParams and ViewAction method but they caused validation errors to do with the <f:metadata> tags. I don't know how to obtain this value using a normal List object.

JavaFX 2.0 :: TableColumn CellValueFactory Invoked For Every Cell Update - Normal?

Apr 10, 2015

I have a JavaFX 8 TableView with multiple columns.  The CellValueFactories for the columns are set as:

xxxColumn.setCellValueFactory(new ItemCountFactory(itemName));

where itemName is a String identifying a different item for each column.

ItemCountFactory returns a StringBinding as the cell value, as follows:

    public ObservableValue<String> call(CellDataFeatures<Category, String> rowData) {
        return new ItemCountBinding(rowData.getValue(), itemName);
    }

where
     class ItemCountBinding extends StringBinding {
     ...
          protected String computeValue() {
                    String cellValue = ...;
                    return cellValue;
          }
     }

The StringBinding depends on properties of the Category instance for the table row.  The correct data is displayed okay, but I have noticed that every time one of the Category properties changes (i.e., every time a cell value changes), ItemCountFactory is called again to create a new StringBinding.  I would have expected the Factory to be invoked just once for each cell during initialization, and then the table column would monitor the returned Observable object.  Instead it seems to be creating a new Observable object every time the cell value changes.  Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?  Same behavior on Java 8u20 and 8u40.  If it is not the expected behavior, I will write an example test program; I do not want to post the current full source code.

The table items are set just once, with:

     countTable.setItems(categoryList);

where categoryList is of type ObservableList<Category>.  The list itself is not modified after being associated with the table; i.e., no rows are added or deleted or replaced.

I think I'll have to remove the menu completely..anyway I tried to start with the file menu but the compiler says no suitable method found for setForeground(javax.swing.JMenu).
