Quad Tree For Indexing Line Segments

View RepliesI have something like:
xxx.x.x.x.x.33423.AMDAC-4
The number of dot separated segment in front of the string may vary, but it doesn't matter since I only need to extract the last two segments from the string (int this case : 33423 and AMDAC-4). How do I do this efficiently? I need to process hundreds of thousands of these strings every day. it is guaranteed that the segments will always be separated by dots only (no whitespaces in the string)
I have a problem where I want to give each subclass of a certain class an index number (I don't care what index numbers are given, as long as there is a one-to-one relationship between subclasses and index numbers and the index numbers don't skip). This number will be used to sort the subclasses as an intermediate step to what I want to achieve. I know I could do this:
interface Superclass {
int index();
}
class Subclass implements Superclass {
int index() {
return 0; //or 1, or 2, ...
}
}
But this quickly gets tedious when I'm looking at lots of subclasses. Plus, there's the off chance that I could mess up and assign an index twice to two different subclasses by accident. Is there a better way to do this? I read about Annotations.
As of now am using icefaces 1.8.2 provided tags for downloading data into excel sheet where i can download all the data from a data table. But now the requirement is like need to download the data into excel sheet based on values passed from UI as parameters to the action class method.
Attaching the code snippet along with this post.

I am working with an Adjacency Matrix to try to find the MST of a graph. Along the way I have hit a snag that I am not sure how to get around. When running the program I will parse through each row of the matrix and find the smallest weight. However when trying to reset the row at the end of the lowest sort I cannot move to the next row.
The graph looks like this:
My Matrix was created from the graph and I have determined by starting at Vertex W my path should looks like this:
W->R->D->H->G->S->C->B->A
How to do draw the original binary tree based on traversal results?
A binary tree has this pre-order traversal result: A,B,D,H,I,E,F,C,G,K,J (TreeNodes) And the same tree gives the following in-order traversal: B,H,I,D,A,C,F,E,K,G,J. Can you draw the tree structure?
I have wrote this class who read from text line by line and save the words in fileOnTable.. Now i don't know what to read in ReadOffer to save the words in object offers and return this.. One more question.. What JUnit test can write for this code..?

Write a program that accepts the line number from the user and prints only that particular line from the Floyd triangle.
Example:
Input: 2
Output: 2 3
Input: 3
Output: 4 5 6
How do I make the file reader object move to the next line if there is no more input on the line. Here is my text and output file as you can see that my text file column cuts off on the 2nd line after 70. I want to read that next line which is 100 into my labs variable however its reading it into my final exams variable. I'll also post the code but I didn't think it was necessary.
textfile:
100908095
1008070
10070
output:
Labs Projects Tests Final Exams
100908095
1008070100

If I want to read my file line by line and when it hits a certain value from that point it should start deleting the lines until the tag ends.Just curious will my code actually work at the moment or not because it goes through so many times then goes straight back to the variable declarations at the start of the method and never hits the console print line.
public void removeEnvironment(){
//declare variable to environment id
String environmentID = "Environment id";

I'm creating a program that searches a txt file for a given string, then return the number line and the line itself. However, my testFile class isn't detecting my searchWord methods.
The searchWord and recursiveSearch is written in a java class called BasicFile
public List<String> searchWord(String key) throws Exception {
LineNumberReader lnr = new LineNumberReader(new FileReader(f));
return recursiveSearch(lnr.readLine(), key, lnr);
}
public List<String> recursiveSearch(String currentLineText, String key, LineNumberReader lnr)
[code]....
Is it because I'm using a list instead of a string?
I'm doing an assignment for uni and have come across a small hiccup. What I'm trying to do is scan in a text file and read "commands" for it line by line, E.g:
Student Mary 12345 19
Student Joe 12346 19
Change Joe 19 20
Change Mary 19 20
So that lines that begin with the word "Student" indicate that I should create a new student file with that name, student ID, and age.
"Change" indicates that I should be changing the specified student's current age to the new age etc.
What I'm currently doing is something along the lines of this:
Scanner input = new Scanner(new FileReader(args[0]));
String[] line;
while (input.nextLine().startsWith("Student")) {
line = input.nextLine().split("s+");
[Code] ....
The problem I'm having is that every second line seems to be getting skipped (because I'm calling nextLine() so much?) but I can't think of a way to "peek" at the first word of each line without advancing past it. Is there any way of doing this?
how to read file line by line ? Namely my input file I want to read look as follow:
AAA 1, 1
12 222 12
AAA 2, 2
11 122 11
My output file should look as follow:
1, 1, 12
1, 1 222
1, 1, 12
2, 2, 11
2, 2, 122
2, 2, 11
I think the lines need to be stored in ArrayList, then I would like those lines to write to csv file, but how on read I can construct such output file? This is my code for reading file
public ArrayList readFile(String filename)
{
try
{

I am checking how to do following task.
01. pickup the selected text file and read the line by line and output the text in to visual text pane.
what i did:.
01. I wrote code that read the text file and output in to jave console/ also some of the interface.
the code read txt file:
Java Code:
String fileName = "C:/Users/lakshan/Desktop/lawyer.txt";
File textFile = new File(fileName);
Scanner in = new Scanner (textFile);
while(in.hasNextLine()){
[code]....
so it will read any text file dynamically and output to the text pane in interface. I think scanner code must be execute after the select the file from the browser and set the scanned result in to variable. then later out put the var as string in some jswing component?
We have this piece of code and we must make a search for a key. if the key exist it returns true if not false. Plus we must insert a key in the class. If it is already in there we say hey its already in and we don t put it again...

So everything in my program is working EXCEPT when it comes to calculating the result. I am supposed to evaluate the expression using postorder traversal to return the answer. I am honestly not sure how I would get the postorder traversal to return the answer to the expression since the only thing we really went over was how it re-ordered the expression so that it would end in the postorder/postfix order. Anyways, currently the way that I have the public int evaluate(Node node)method set up is giving me a result of 0, which obviously is not correct.
Here's the section that I'm having issues with:
public int evaluate(Node node){
if(node.isLeaf()){
return Integer.parseInt(node.value);
}
int result = 0;
int left = evaluate(node.left);
int right = evaluate(node.right);

how to create a tree data structure in java.I tried with a class consisting of node field and arraylist child nodes. but it does not satisfy the requirement.the requirement is that,
root: child1,child2,child3
child1:child4,child5
child2:child6,child7
on traversing it should print all the nodes as given above.no node should have same elements as child.
I have been trying to make a good tree structure for my Electrical Distribution network.. How to create two "subfolder" of my Voltage level folder.

I'm trying to write Java code for the following figure. Where, if node:4 will create following separate 4 trees. Number of node in
LEVEL1 (yellow) : n node.
LEVEL2 (green) : n-1 node.
LEVEL3 (blue) : n-2 node.
See image for node:4.
4node.jpg
The example out for node:4 :
012
013
021
023
031
032 and so on.
I know what the tree data structure is, how it works, etc., but I need to design a method that will sequentially print out all the paths in the tree (i.e. for each node).
The method as provided is
private static String getAllPaths(final BinaryNodeInterface<Character> root) { }
Now the string that must be returned needs to be of the format:
root.getData() + " " + path + "
"
root.getData()[1] + " " + path[1] + "
"
etc.
The pseudocode I was thinking of doing was something along the lines of:
paths
if(root.getData() = null) return paths;
path = ?; // absolutely no clue what to do here
paths += root.getData() + " " + path + "
";
if(root.hasLeftChild()) {
newPath += "0";
paths += begin recursion;
}
if(root.hasRightChild()) {
newPath += "1";
paths += begin recursion;
}
return paths;
Problems:
(1) I don't know how to determine "path" before the left and right children check (the root node's path is "", the first left node's path is "0", the first right node's path is "1", pattern continues with left being "0" and right being "1").
(2) I don't know where to put newlines precisely.
(3) I'm not sure how to get the print layout precisely as it is supposed to be. At most I've been able to just get the last number in the sequence (i.e. if it was supposed to be "1000", I could get "0".
I am working with the pseudocode formulation, especially in regards to the logic and formatting. I think once I have an understanding of what is going on, I can solve it. And yes, I've gone through a couple pseudocode rewrites (a few hours worth) and haven't gotten anywhere which is slightly unnerving.
As one of the methods of my IntTree tree I have to implement a method that multiplies the level number with the sum of the nodes on the current level. So far I have this, and it doesn't work. What I am wondering is am I on the right track at all with the second return statement?
public int depthSum(){
return depthSum(overallRoot);
}
private int depthSum(IntTreeNode root) {
if(root==null)
return 0;
int level = 0;

View Replies View RelatedI have a list of people with a matching telephone extension number, the people are organised in a hierachy tree with some colleagues at the same level and then some junior colleagues. My task is to implement a B-Tree data structure in Java using no libraries.
My current problem is inserting when the root is full, thus the middle key goes to root.keys[0] and then it get the left and right side which are new Nodes separating and inserting their keys. My problem is that for some reason there is a random second number when in the root and secondly my boolean leaf is always false meaning it never detects that the Tree is deeper than root.
The coding makes sense to me and I have tried printing everywhere but still can't seem to find the problem.
public class BTree {
/*
1. You may not modify the public interface of this class. You may however add any additional methods and/or field which you may require to aid you in the completion of this assignment.
2. You will have to design and implement a Node class. The BTree should house Integer objects.
3. You will notice that there are some overloaded methods, some of which work for Integer objects and some with primitive type int. You have to find a way to implement the methods to work with both types.
*/
class BTreeNode {
boolean leaf = true;
int numKeys = 1;
int mOrder;
Integer keys[];
