Rational Number Class - Java Client Code For Testing

Mar 7, 2014

We are making a Rational Number class. After that we must create client code to test it out. The instructions-

•Create 3 instances of RationalNumber. Remember every time you say “new” you are creating an instance.
oOne of them should use the default constructor
oOne of them should use the constructor with one parameter
oOne of them should use the concstructor with two parameters.
•Print out the int and double value of each Rational Number
•Print out the sum (as a double) of all the numbers.
•Print out the sum (as an int) of all the numbers.

My rational number class :

public class RationalNumber{
private int numerator;
private int denominator;
public RationalNumber()
{
numerator =1;
denominator = 4;

// Lab09ast.java

import java.util.Scanner;
public class Lab9a {
static int ReducedNum, ReducedDen; // numerator and denominator of the rational number
public static void main (String args[]) {
enterData();
Rational r = new Rational(ReducedNum,ReducedDen);
r.displayData();

The code already displays a fraction that is entered by the user in decimal format but I also need to reduce the fraction using gfc. I have tried a lot of different things, but it will only display null or infinity/infinity.

Testing TCP Client And Server

Oct 22, 2014

I am attempting to test a TCP Client and Server for an assignment I am doing in class. The goal here is to "test your client and Server applications by transferring (i) a file having 10,000+ lines (see supplied big-file1.txt having 12000+ lines), (ii) a file having 20,000+ lines (you may create one of your own from big-file1.txt, or obtain a large size file from the Google website at [URL] ...). Then, compute and display the total transfer time of the files at both of the sides separately (your choice in millisecond/second)."

I have created the TCPClient and TCPServer java classes, ran the server first and then the client, and using mathematical formulas to calculate the transfer time. Trouble is, I'm having trouble testing the client and server in the file area and not the area where I had to input a line, let the server print it, and then have the client eliminate the articles from the line. I need testing the file. Here is my code so far:

TCPClient:

package tcpclient;
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
public class TCPClient {
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException{
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
String sentence;

[code] ....

How to fix the code so that the time in seconds does not output as 60 for both files and that the files go through the exchange?

Testing Events Within Inner Class Using JUnit?

Apr 17, 2015

How do you test the events within an inner class using JUnit

// File: : events/SomePanel.java
// Purpose: Show use of named inner class listener.

import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
class SomePanel extends JPanel {
private JButton myGreetingButton = new JButton("Hello");
private JTextField myGreetingField = new JTextField(20);

[Code] .....

Code extract taken from: Java: Inner-class Listeners

Taking the above example, do I need to use myGreetingButton.doClick to trigger this event to test the respective variables/values being used ? Also the Actionlistener inner classes is private so doubt I can access this from JUnit Test class.

Web Services :: How To Enable WS-A Addressing On JAX-WS Generated Client Code

Feb 22, 2015

I would like to access a third party websevice using a Java client that I generated with JAX-WS wsimport, based on the WSDL provided (I am using a Maven plugin).

For quite a while I was unable to retrieve a useful response, not in the Java client and also not in SoapUI, until I found out that I had to enable WS-A on the request. In SoapUI this now results in the expected response, but what must I do to also 'enable' WS-A in the Java client? Do I maybe have to alter the WSDL, or add a parameter to wsimport?

I found some documentation on WS-A online, but so far could not find an answer.

EJB / EE :: Deploy Slow Using 3.1 And JPA In Rational Application Developer?

May 13, 2014

I have a large scale enterprise application (5 modules) project using RAD, WAS v7, Java EE 6 (EJB 3.1, JPA), ZK framework.

The project is using RAD as IDE. The problem is that it takes too long to deploy (more than 5 min) when changes are made to the EJB's (although the changes are minor in only one file) but when changes are made to zk framework (the web & presentation layer), it is fast to deploy.

Don't know what cause the problem. Is it because of EJB 3.1/ JPA or RAD/ WAS?

Is it happening in other IDE or applcation server also?

Client Class - Cannot Get Total Price To Recognize Surcharge

Apr 26, 2015

I am almost finished with my code. The only hangup I am having is that in my client class, I can't get the total price to recognize a surcharge.

This is my output:
-------------------------------------------------
Your order consists of:

coffee, type mocha, size large, cost: $5.8
tea, flavor earl grey, size medium, cost: $3.6

The total cost of your order is: $8.4
----------------------------------------------------
Notice that the total should be $9.4, rather than $8.4. It is odd because I was able to add a surcharge to my coffee(50 cents), and it does in fact recognize it when calculating the price of the coffee. So why won't my totalPrice in the client class recognize it?

Here is my Client class:

public class CoffeeShop {
public static void main(String[] args)
//One coffee
Coffee coffee = new Coffee(16,"mocha");
coffee.set_price_per_oz(coffee.size);

Client And Server Class For UDP Protocol Sending Integer Numbers By Packets

Apr 21, 2014

I have to write a client and server class for a UDP protocol sending integer numbers by UDP packets. So far i have this;

Client Code:

import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
class UDPClient {
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
BufferedReader inFromUser =
new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));

[Code] ....

But i now need to change this so that:

The client;

1. Reads an integer from keyboard input and stores its value in a UDP packet.
// byte[] send = ByteBuffer.allocate(4).putInt(num).array(); ???

2. Sends the UDP packet to the server, on port number 1999;

3. Listens for UDP packets from the server (until it receives a packet with a non-positive number; see
step (b) below). While listening:

(a) Once it receives a UDP packet from the server, it subtracts 2 from the integer value num contained in it.
// int num = ByteBuffer.wrap(receive).getInt(); ???
(b) Checks the integer value num: if the value is greater than 0 (num>0) then the client stores it in a new UDP packet and sends the packet to the server; otherwise (num<=0) the client terminates.

The Server;

1. Listens on port 1999;

2. For each UDP packet it receives from a client:
(a) extracts the integer value n contained in it;
(b) decreases the value of n by 2;
(c) sends back to the client a UDP packet containing the new value of n.

How To Reduce Number Of Parallel Arrays In Code

Mar 8, 2015

I'm building a text based "game" where you are communicating with this android creature called Gargoid , at a VERY primitive level . how it works is, simply the user type in a sentence which is decoded for meaning by comparing it with a built in list of words in order to figure out what the user is saying, and then reply with a a relevant response also from a list of built in words. the whole thing would look something like this,

user: what is your name
Gargoid : my name is Gargoid, nice to meet you
user: how is the weather
Gargoid: the weather is wonderful

so far I have 11 arrays which are the following

String[] for user typed in words used for comparison to find meaning ..An Array of String[] , 7 so far, to hold what I call the Gargoid dictionary for example String[] greeting={hi,hello,aloha}, words that indicates greeting int[] called frequency to determine which of the 7 arrays have the greatest "relevancy" to what is being said. and finally another String[] for responses here's the actual code, I want you guys to tell me if there's a way to reduce all this never ending number of arrays? and also is this code a good application of object oriented programming?

MainClass
public class GargoidMain {
public static void main(String[] args) {
TheKeyBoard keyboard=new TheKeyBoard();
TheTranslator translator=new TheTranslator();
TheBrain brain=new TheBrain();
translator.translate(keyboard.userSaysWhat());

Write A Code That Allows A User To Input Number Of Stones In A Basket

Nov 20, 2014

I am trying to write a code that allows a user to input the number of stones in a basket, then put the stones in my pocket, after the stones are in my pocket, the stones must be taken out, one by one, and thrown in a pond. I get stuck at this part because my for statement has to subtract the number of stones in my pocket (one at a time) and add a stone to the pond (one by one) at the same time.I can get the pond stones to increase until the max amount of stones with the following:

for (int i = 0; i < stones; i++) {

System.out.println("Pocket:" ? " " + "Pond:" + i);

how to reduce one and add to other. Is it possible to do this in one for statement? I tried to put stones-- in place of the question mark, but that is not working.

Communicating Between Client And Server Sockets In Java

Apr 3, 2014

I'm working on an assignment right now which involves passing a variable series of numbers to the Server to be sorted into the correct order and returned to the client.

So far I have it connecting to the server and asking for my numbers, and I am entering each number and pressing return, and it is accepting each number individually.

One (smaller I think) problem i'm having is with the client code, specifically the while loop.. I've tried to code it so that when I enter a full stop ('.') the program will stop asking me for more numbers and move on to sending them to the server.. but instead it just crashes giving an error.. heres an example

"Enter a number: 1
Enter a number: 3
Enter a number: 2
Enter a number: 1.
java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "1."
at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(Num berFormatException.java:65)

[Code] ....

Here's the client code in full

package numberSortprogram;
import java.io.*;
import java.net.ServerSocket;
public class NumSortClient {
public static void main(String[] args) {
InputStreamReader is = new InputStreamReader(System.in);
[Code] ....

The big problem that I have is figuring out how to send the sorted array back to the client..

So, what im trying to get to happen is-

-Client is asked to enter numbers
-Client enters series of numbers into an array
-Array is converted to a string and sent to the server
-String is then split into an array of strings and sorted using compareTo (don't know if this is the best way?)
-Sorted array is sent back to client and displayed.

fyi this is making use of streamsockets..

All of the rest of my code is below:

package numberSortprogram;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.net.*;
import java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException;
public class NumSortServer {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int serverPort = 4444; // default port
if (args.length == 1 )

Java UDP Client Server Program Not Working

Apr 18, 2014

I am currently writing two java classes (client and server). The client takes an input number form keyboard and sends it to the server. The server then multiplies this number by two and sends it back to the client. The numbers should also be printed to screen along the way, for example if I input the number 3 I should get

"From Client: 3" "From Server: 6"

They should continuously do this unless a negative number is received by the client, say for example the number -3 is sent to the server and it returns -6.

The code I have for the two classes so far is:

import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
import java.nio.ByteBuffer;
import java.util.Scanner;
class Client {
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
DatagramSocket clientSocket = new DatagramSocket();

[Code] .....

Currently, when I run the program all I get is an output of the number first entered. I am aware it requires a loop but I don't know where and what the condition should be.

Also if I wanted to adapt this so that it would take the integer from client and subtract two at the server and return to client who sends back to server to keep subtracting two unless it reaches a negative number at which point the client will terminate the program - how might I do this.

I do realise there needs to be a while loop in the above code, but I wanted to test it sent the number from client to server and its not doing it. All I get is a print screen of 'enter number' and then the number I enter.
