Reading Image From Folder And Draw It On Jlabel
Jul 1, 2014
I'm trying to read images and draw them on JLabel. This code snippet below is reading images from a folder
private ArrayList<ShowItem> getData() {
int score = 0;
ArrayList<ShowItem> item = new ArrayList<ShowItem>();
File dir = new File(getImageFolderPath());
if (dir.isDirectory()) {
for (final File f : dir.listFiles(IMAGE_FILTER)) {
BufferedImage img = null;
try {
[Code]...
ShowItem is a class that extends Image. DisplayImage extends ShowItem.
One of the overridden methods in ShowItem is
@Override
public Graphics getGraphics() {
return null;
}
I'm not exactly sure what to do here so I left it.
In another class, where I draw the images on Jlabel. This is what I have:
ShowItem theImage;
private ArrayList<ShowItem> listofImages;
theImage = listofImages.get(random.nextInt(listofImages.size()));
ImageIcon icon = new ImageIcon(theImage);
label.setIcon(icon);
I tried to run it, and check if I'm actually getting the images, and did system out and it listed all the jpg images I have but it's not displaying on the panel.

In my java app there is a code which reads the properties file from src/main/resources folder.
Java Code:
@Component("mailerProperties")
public class MailerProperties {
private static Properties properties;
public MailerProperties() {
properties = new Properties();
[Code] ....
Now I need to create a jar file and also remove the properties file from src/main/resources folder and place it outside the jar file(in the same location as jar file) so that data inside it can be changed easily in future.
Question: Currently it uses ClassPathResource("mailer.properties") to read the prop file. What change I need to make to read it from outside the jar file...

I've tried multiple things but I can't seem to figure out how to get my JButton over the background graphics. On lines 104-108 I create the JButton I need to put on the screen, though I have no clue how to draw it. How I can paint over this background and have my button stay there?
public static final int WIDTH = 1024;
public static final int HEIGHT = 640;
private Thread thread;
private boolean running;
private BufferedImage image;
private Graphics2D g;

So I've got this class method:
private void createTextBox() {
Graphics g = Game.getG();
Font font = new Font(fontName, fontStyle, fontSize);
g.setFont(font);
height = BORDER_WIDTH*2 + g.getFontMetrics().getHeight();
int stringWidth = g.getFontMetrics().stringWidth(dialog);
width = BORDER_WIDTH*2 + stringWidth;
[Code] .....
This gets called when ever I want to create my Textbox object however what gets created is a purple box (i know that I have set the array elements to purple to begin with) however when I try to use the drawstring method to "draw a string" I get an image which looks like the gif below. I have changed the text size to various sizes but without success. The string is supposed to say "This is a test" but obviously it doesn't.

I have tried to set a background Image to a calculator usinf JLabel. However I've ended up with my image to the left of my calculator , my calculator textfield becoming the size of the background image and then all my buttons below it.
Like so(if you can view the image)..Calculator.jpg
How can I fix this so the background is behind my buttons and my text area is a normal size again.
My code is below :
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;

Where can I learn or how can I, being the most efficient way known to do so, create a folder outside my JAR file with the java source code, this then will copy YAML documents from my JAR file to that folder, then I need to read the YAML documents some way. I'm making an addon for a game, I am using an API that allows you to make a config.yml easily, and add and read entries from it, but I've read that I need to make my own methods to be able to create additional YAML documents.
I don't exactly know what to type in google to perhaps find such a page, but I did try to find a tutorial page about this or something and couldn't.
I've partially figured out how to create a folder, but I have a problem, how can I RETURN one directory to make the folder, I don't want to make the folder in the JAR file I want to make it just outside the Jar file in the same folder that the Jar file is at.

I am trying to crate an interface for the following file (code). The interface that I am trying to create will display a open dialog box where the user chooses which image (.dcm) it would like to open and then it should open it in a frame. The code below shows opening the image. The image opens when the image is in the same folder as the source code but I need it to open from a given path and I am really confused on how to do that. I have tried a lot of methods but still doesn't seem work. How to make it work.
This is the code (assuming the parameter that you are passing in image.dcm, I have tried a full path name on mac computer which is like /Users/Documents/image.dcm, where this path name never works):
/**
* This class displays the first frame of a file from any format
* supported by ImageIO.
* In the case of DICOM files, stored values are displayed as
* is, without using Value of Interest or Presentation LUTs.
*/
class Read1 {
public static void main(String[] s) {

I'm a complete beginner in Java programming and I'm interested to learn more about its concepts.
Recently, I've been given an exercise which instructs me to display two versions of a picture. The picture to be displayed is provided in the form of a data file of 40,000 digits that are arranged in rows (although there is no marker between rows) and it starts from the top of the picture. So the first digit represents the top left corner of the picture and the last is the bottom right.
Basically, what the exercise wants me to construct a program that plots a dot in one of two colours for each digit. If the digit is in the range 0 to 3 the output should be one colour and for digits in the range 4 to 9 the dot should be in the other colour.
I understand I have to use arrays and also loops to perform this. I'm familiar with the fillEllipse, drawEllipse, drawRectangle and fillRectangle but this exercise is nothing I've attempted before.

Sir, I'am new to Swing Programming. I have to create an application where an image is displayed on one Label. The same image has to be split in parts and stored in database pert wise. Later the user has to retrieve the entire image by viewing a small part of the image. I have already displayed the full image on the Label, now i don't know how to split the image and store it part wise in the database.

I am creating a very simple webpage where I am using just a little bit of JSP to include partials (header, footer and asides) that are centrally located. One of the constraint that the site owner has put is that, for SEO reason, he wants to keep the url's the way they are. Most of the pages are located in the same folder, except for one which is in a subfolder.
Here is my problem, I have the partials in a folder and at the same level the images. Now, for that page located in the subfolder, when I include the partials, it is not able to locate the images because they are located in a folder one level up. What I could do is create a copy of the image folder in the subfolder or an adapted copy of the partials (referring to the images one level up), but either solution would make for a maintenance nightmare and repeat information on the server.
Here is a visual representation of my file system:
- Top level folder
- Partial_Folder
- header.html
- footer.html
- images
- picture_1.jpg
- Page_1.html
- Page_2.html
- Another_Folder
- Page_3.html

I am creating a bukkit plugin, but my question has nothing to do with bukkit, just Java. I am trying to load a file that is located in the same folder as the jar file that is being run and I am having no luck. I can't set a manual path because if I move this plugin to a remote server it won't work. So how to get a file from the same folder as the jar.

I have a JPanel embedded in a JScrollPane. I draw in the JPanel, using the paint() method. I have to draw some shapes that can go far in the y direction, that's why I put my JPanel in a scroll pane, in order to scroll down to be able to discover the shapes down. But even though I put my JPanel in a JScrollPane, it soon blocks in the y direction and does not show the shapes far in the y direction.
Note: I used a GridBagConstraints which is correctly set, with its fill attribute etc.
