Repeating A Program Until Manually Terminated?
Jun 22, 2014
My homework assignment is to create a program that reads two military times and then prints out the elapsed time. I've got all that down and ready to go but then the other part of this project is to have it loop until it is terminated manually. So at the end where it asks for a 'Y' or 'N' input answer is where I know i need to implement a do-while loop or switch statement, I'm not sure. how to make the application repeat until told to quit.

Trying to run my program after getting rid of code errors (I think) and now it doesn't produce anything but <terminated> in the console window. The produce is suppose to analyse text from a file and produce the percentage of words used

I don't know why but my script gets terminated after bufferedreader gets activiated (Im not done yet). It stops right after the user inputs what kind of movie the want to watch.
#import java.io.*;
public class erichw3 {
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
BufferedReader type = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
BufferedReader movie = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
[Code].....
I input 1 and nothing happens. Then I put System.out.println("Hi"); at the end (Not in the if Statements) and after I input it skipped to printing Hi.

Below is a code of a simple file downloader in java. I want to detect an exception when the connection is broken in the middle of downloading a file. Now, I run the code and in the middle of downloading the file, i turn off my wifi with keyboard wifi off button. Doing this the program hangs forever without throwing any exceptions and without terminating. It seems it blocks forever.why is exception not thrown? Secondly, in the following code you can see this line //con.setReadTimeout(2000); which is currently commented out. Removing the comment and running the program, now if connection breaks in the middle by turning off wifi then it waits for 2 seconds and then if it cannot read then it terminates without throwing exception. So, again in this case why is it just terminating and not throwing any exception?
Java Code:
import java.io.FileOutputStream;
import java.net.URL;
import java.net.URLConnection;
import java.nio.channels.Channels;
import java.nio.channels.ReadableByteChannel;
import java.util.*;

So while experimenting with constructors, repeating constructors with the same parameters, and with different parameters. I got an output -explaining how I got it.
I made 2 classes. a "support class" (has all the info) and an "execute class" (executes info).
Support:
package inschool;
public class Constructors {
String video;
public Constructors() {
video = "frozen";
[Code] ....
Execute:
package inschool;
//this is part of Constructors class
public class App{
public static void main(String[] args){
[Code] ....
The Output:
the video name is frozen
Second constructor running
Constructor running!
the video name is frozen
Output Explanation:
constructor call number 1 and 3 are the same (essentially) and both refer to the same constructor.
My Question: if both call #1 and #3 refer to the same constructor, why is the output for #1 "the video name is frozen"
while the output for #3 used both methods in the accessed constructor-with the resulting output as
"Constructor running!"
and
"the video name is frozen"
I double checked the output-and this time made sure to scroll up ... its the same result

I am working on a bingo project and created random numbers between 1 and 75 to generate. I have it set up that it shows the number in a text box and changes the color on the board if the number is called. When I test the program, some numbers are highlighted in addition to the number called. I believe this is because extra numbers are being chosen, but not being noted in the text box. Below is my code for the unique random numbers.
int CallNo;
String CallerTxt = new String();
public void CallNum() {
Random RandCall = new Random();
//Generate Caller Random Number
CallNo = RandCall.nextInt(75)+1;

I have a problem where i have to write some code to read through an int array and print out the different integers and how many times they occur. For example:
if the array contained the numbers 1,4,2,3,5,4,4,7,5,4,3,6,8,6,4,
i would need the print to appear something like this
integer: 1, times: 1
integer: 4, times: 5
integer: 2, times: 1
etc
as the array is read sequentialy from element 0 to the end. the program should find the integer value in the first element (increment a counter by 1) and then search all other elements to see if the integer reoccurs (counter++ for each time it reappears). obviously the counter would be the 'times' value in the second column.
My problem is i can get this accomplished yet i cant get the program to recognise when it has already registered an integer in a previous element and skip to the next element looking for a new integer. SO for each element in the array it prints the integer and then searches the entire array for the integer again and increments the counter accordingly. so in essence there is a line printed for each integer the number of times it actually occurs.
I simply wish to have my code to find an integer and the number of times it occurs. and then disregard the elements it has registered the previous integer in.
Also, keep in mind that i am NOT permitted to use any new data structures/arrays for storing/remembering values. I can only use int and double variables throughout.
what i have so far is this: with the array being customerID[] :
Java Code:
int num;
int counter;
for(int count = 0; count < customerID.length; count++)
{
counter = 0;
num = customerID[count];
for(int count2 = 0; count2 < customerID.length; count2++)
[Code]...
The output for the int array 1,1,3,0,3,2,0,4,1,3, looks something like this:
Integer: 1, Times: 3
Integer: 1, Times: 3
Integer: 3, Times: 3
Integer: 0, Times: 2
Integer: 3, Times: 3
Integer: 2, Times: 1
[Code]...
and as you can see lines are repeated for each time the same integer occurs in a new element. i just need my code to skip an element if the integer has been previously encounterd and recorded. i.e i need it to look more like this :
Integer: 1, Times: 3
Integer: 3, Times: 3
Integer: 0, Times: 2
Integer: 2, Times: 1
Integer: 4, Times: 1
with the first encountered integer being checked throughout the array and then moving to the next integer/element which is not the same as any previous.

I am working on a 3D-Projekt, but that's not the point. I wanted to call a function to turn the camera and want, that the function ist called while the key is pressed. I tried following:
private ActionListener actionListener = new ActionListener() {
public void onAction(String name, boolean pressed, float tpf)
if (name.equals("Camera Left") && pressed) {
setViewAngle(-1);
I think, I have to change the ActionListener "onAction", but I can't remember in which way. In the actual code the programm only once perform the action when the key is pressed.
I already tried :
while(pressed) {setViewAngle(-1)}
But that didn't work, but get the whole programm to halt.
So I thought of key repeating.

I am new to programming in regards to I/O, channels, SSH, etc...
At the moment I am trying to transform the Shell.java program from the JCraft JSch examples; JSch - Java Secure Channel - Examples
The way in which I am trying to transform it is by instead of having the character input go into the channel automatically from the keyboard (refer to line 77 in Shell.java), I just want to pro-grammatically insert characters in to the channel at my discretion, so for example I have a string called unixCommand that I want to insert into the channel, and I don't want there to be any other way of inserting into the channel such as the standard input stream, so for example I'd have the statement <insert unixCommand to UNIX box at other side of channel> inserted somewhere after line 100 in Shell.java.
I was thinking that maybe I have to use some other InputStream object at line 77 when setting the channels input stream instead of System.in, but I am not sure how to do this (but really I'm not sure if I'm even on the right tracks?). I believe all this confusion may be down to a misunderstanding with the general concepts involved with channels and I/O ...

For some reason, when I generate a Javadoc (using javadoc.exe of JDK 8), it displays Java-defined classes like java.lang.String and java.lang.Object by their full names rather than simply String or Object. Only the classes inside the packaged contents were represented by their simple names and linked to them (had visible coloured bolding). Was I supposed to manually include the Java API?

because of the need to implement a certain software watermarking technique I have to manipulate the exception table.

So far I could manually add the exception table entry with Javassist:
MethodInfo minfo = (MethodInfo) aclasscf.getMethods().get(0);

I have problem with manually (through my java code) selecting items in a JTree. I did Google the problem and found solutions here :
[URL]
This code worked for me only partially. Once I tried selecting deeper nested nodes, I ran into problems. Since my production code is very cluttered I built an example and reproduced my exact problem in it.
DummyView.java
package de.fortis.tcws.client.controller;
import java.awt.BorderLayout;
import java.awt.Dimension;
import java.security.MessageDigest;
import java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException;
[code].....
The important method is 'manualSelect(String[])'.
It streps through the tree by comparing user objects and finds the target node. Then it calls 'navigateToNode()' which uses the solution discussed in the links above.
This method behaves incosistently:
If you call it with an empty array it will correctly select the root node. The righthand pane shows the text of the selected node. = correct
If you call it with target node 1 it will correctly select node 1. The righthand pane shows the text of the selected node. = correct
If you call it with target node 1.1 it will select node 1.1 but for some reason it is not displayed as marked (no background). The righthand pane shows the text of the selected node. = only partly correct
If you call it with target node A it will run into an exception. Debugging reveals that the selection occurs correclty at first. You can also observe the righthand pane showing that 'A' was selected. But afterwards another TreeselectionEvent is occuring that has a NewLeadSelectionPath of null. I do not know where this second SelectionEvent is triggered from.
This code is run with Java 1.6.0_39 which is also what I will have to use in production.

I use Javassist to manually add a exception table entry:
Java Code:
MethodInfo minfo = (MethodInfo) aclasscf.getMethods().get(0);
CodeAttribute ca = minfo.getCodeAttribute();
ExceptionTable et = ca.getExceptionTable();
et.add(26, 30, 40, 0);
System.out.println("exception table size: " + et.size()); mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
If I get the bytecode with javap it seems to work:
Java Code:
Exception Table
from to target type
26 30 40 any mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
But the problem is that I can't run the file anymore. Simply running it with the java command results in "java.lang.VerifyError: Expecting a stackmap frame at branch target 40". After some research this seems to be a problem with java 7 and a stricter verifier. I read several times that java -XX:-UseSplitVerifier should be used instead.
This really fixed the stackmap error, but then another error appeared: "java.lang.VerifyError: (class: AClass, method: signature: ()V) Inconsistent stack height 2 != 1". Are there any further steps required to insert a new exception in the exception table?
Additional info: Later I want to remove gotos (in this case the goto at line 27) and add a function call instead. When this function finishes it will throw a exception and propagate it back to the caller (which will be at line 27). Then the program should go on as if nothing happend, that is also the reason why the target of the exception is the same as the target of the goto (40)
Here is the bytecode:
Java Code:
0: aload_0
1: invokespecial #8 // Method java/lang/Object."<init>":()V
4: iconst_0
5: istore_1
6: goto 19
9: getstatic #10 // Field java/lang/System.out:Ljava/io/PrintStream;
12: iload_1
13: invokevirtual #16 // Method java/io/PrintStream.println:(I)V
[Code] .....
Exception table:
from to target type
26 30 40 any mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

I'm not a java developer, i'm a tester. I am currently testing a java swing application and to do that I have to automate how its used. IE I have to write code which will press buttons for me rather than depending on an end user to do this. I have managed to reverse engineer the entire application (hooray for me), however I am struggling to work out how to invoke methods that would typically be kicked off by a user pressing a button. how to I can call actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) method which sits in the ATMMainPanel class?
I will be calling it from inside another method which is the equivalent of the main() method.
Java Code:
public class ATMMainPanel extends JPanel implements ActionListener {
[declarations here]
//here - User is pressing the Enter button after putting in pin.
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
[code performed when button is pressed]
} mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

I'm working in a GUI program, but I'm not going to put the code because there is a lot of code and files. Instead, I will try to put it an example.
Let say:
I'm working in a GUI program that ask form the user to enter two number's. When the user press at the calculate button. It will show up the output. However, the program won't exit unless the user press at red (X).
int x = user_Input1;
int y = user_Input2;
int total = x + y; //
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, total);
I know that there will be a (total) now, so my question is here how can I reset all the calculation and have a new total that will show up when the user enter two number's again.
