Request A User To Input Two Numbers For Num1 And Num2 And Do Arithmetic?

New to programming, and my teacher wants us to declare two variables : num1 and num2, and have the user input values, then run it through 2*num1 - num2.

I am writing a program to reverse a user inputted number (Example - 54321 is 12345) The code works great minus the fact that if I input a number that begins with zero, the output will drop the zero. Would it make more sense to just set this up using strings?

I'm supposed to use a for loop that runs until it reaches the number input by the user, but I'm not sure how to tell the program to add the user's number along with all of the even numbers in between the user input and 2.
I am trying to write a code that asks the user to input ten numbers and then finds and displays the smallest number out of the ones given. I am supposed to implement arrays into the program to do this. But the problem I have run into is that when I compile the code in jgrasp, I am given several error messages and I am not quite sure what I have done wrong. I'm assuming it is either a syntax or a logical error on my part but reading over the code I do not understand what is causing these errors.

Why does it still show "a / d.size?" I thought I fixed that. Whatever, it's supposed to be "dTotal / d.size()", etc.
I have been assigned to write a program that has a user input random numbers then the program is to sort them in different ways. I have the coding for the different sorts but, I have an error saying that I am missing a return statement in the "Bubble" method. I am trying to return "arr[i]" in the "for loop" which gives me this error, and when I try to take the "return arr[i]" outside of the "for()" loop the error reads the it cannot locate variable "i".

I have a project which consists of the delivery of an sms containing the national identification number of a user upon request. This request will be in the form of an sms. Say for instance a client sends an sms to the mobile operator, my app would retrieve the national id and communicates it to the mobile operator which would send it the client.
I have downloaded and installed kannel as well the smsc simulator SMPPSim and also gone through some of the documentation. Now my problem is, how can i simulate the reception of an sms? Say for instance a client sends 'nidn 5', i want to be able to take 5 and process it in a servlet to retrieve the associated national identification number. How to achieve this.
I've been googling information on how to print a pdf in java, and it seems that the java print api is used more for printing from a swing app. What I'm needing to do is send a pdf document to the printer upon user request. I would like my app to work as follows - User selects pdf to be printed- Program determines pages to be printed and deducts amount from user account- If sufficient money, program sends job to printer automatically without popping up the print screen.- If printed successfully, then program tells user it was printed. I'm able to figure out the rest of the pieces, in regards to user input and determining pages of the pdf, except I don't see how I will be able to print the pdf.
But all that I get is junk characters spread across 15 or so pages, for a pdf file that simply says "Hello World". I can open the pdf file on my computer, and print it ok, but when using the above code, it just prints out junk. How I might need to format or setup the pdf so that I can print it correctly. My program could be run on any number of Linux systems, with a multitude of printer types.

I think the problem in this is that the variable max is initialised as 0. Afterwards it remains in the while loop only, so the output is always 0. I dont know how to bring the last max value out of loop and print it.

I finally was able to scrap together a working program, but i left something out that needs to be. I have to include input validation to check for negative values, prompting users to re-enter values if negative. I have included my current code, the program works perfectly, but what to do about the negative numbers.

I have a GUI with a textArea for the user to input numbers, a button which should "listen" for those numbers, and then a textField to display the sum. I have my code working for user input of one number; but I'm at a loss as to what sort of loop I need to create to get it to read each line of input. can count the numbers from 0-9 if the user puted but if it is 10 it doesnt count it , and i need to write all the numbers to have that option. . . . I'm trying to write a program that calculates the factorials of the numbers 1 through 10, based on user input... My problem is that I don't know how to address the possibility of the user entering something other than a number. When I test the following code by entering a letter, I get an Input Mismatch exception. I'd like to be able to inform the user that the entry is invalid, and ask for another response.
