Swing/AWT/SWT :: Java Built By Netbeans
May 2, 2015I would like a small box to be able to enter a contacts information and I started with building it thru netbeans. Now I am thinking I should start from scratch so I understand everything. What should I do? I am having trouble making the buttons at the bottom work. All I would like to be able to do is setFrameVisible(false); but I can't seem to be able to do that without loosing the whole project not just the frame I am working on.
The buttons I am referencing are the Cancel & Accept

Nov 12, 2014Using MySQL to store the chat data/users and then recieve the chat data every time the chat table updates because someone entered a new message. I am woundering if this is the right way to do it or should try something else?
What I am looking for is someway to run a query each time the database has been updated or receive data from the database each 10 sec, is it even posible, if yes then how? Been trying to look into threading, but do not seem solve this problem and cant find any information about it.
Using Socket And JSP For Web-based Chat Application

The problem I am facing is that the sender can send message but on the receiver side we have to manually refresh the page. The sender stays into blocking mode until the receiver refresh its page !
After that I've implemented auto-refresh on the receiver side and "Connection Refused" exception is generated.

May 8, 2014I have a Java application this application sits on a Dedicated server and gets information about the machine and run commands on the machine.
I need it so that i can run these commands from pressing buttons on a website. For example i press a button to retrieve CPU info, it goes to the app, and the app sends the CPU info back.
I'm fine with the website and app its just the middle bit. How do i get the app to run commands sent from a webpage. Been ratting my brains for a couple weeks now.

Problem is am not hear any voice back. I debugged through it wireshark and i am receiving the packets from the multicast group address. Jan 26, 2015I am wondering if there is something similar to the "Find and Replace" action, that we use in applications like Eclipse and MS Word, that is actually built into the Java API so we can use it in our code, mainly for method names?
For example, right now I have these couple of lines
rotateLeftCounterClockwise(1);
rotateBottomClockwise(1);
rotateLeftClockwise(1);

rotateRightCounterClockwise(1);
rotateBottomCounterClockwise(1);
rotateRightClockwise(1);
that does one operation for a side of Rubik's cube. However, all other sides of the cube can use these same exact code with the exception of the 2nd word, ie the position, in each method.
So for example, another side would do something, like, lets say
rotateFrontCounterClockwise(1);
rotateBottomClockwise(1);
rotateFrontClockwise(1);
//and
rotateBackCounterClockwise(1);
rotateBottomCounterClockwise(1);
rotateBackClockwise(1);
The reason why I ask this is because this would DRASTICALLY shrink the size my code, rather than have to create separate methods for each operation. Now I know there is a Find and Replace feature for Strings, but I am not sure about method names...

How To Print PDF In Java - Send Document To Printer Upon User Request
Apr 24, 2008I've been googling information on how to print a pdf in java, and it seems that the java print api is used more for printing from a swing app. What I'm needing to do is send a pdf document to the printer upon user request. I would like my app to work as follows - User selects pdf to be printed- Program determines pages to be printed and deducts amount from user account- If sufficient money, program sends job to printer automatically without popping up the print screen.- If printed successfully, then program tells user it was printed. I'm able to figure out the rest of the pieces, in regards to user input and determining pages of the pdf, except I don't see how I will be able to print the pdf.
I've tried to use this code

But all that I get is junk characters spread across 15 or so pages, for a pdf file that simply says "Hello World". I can open the pdf file on my computer, and print it ok, but when using the above code, it just prints out junk. How I might need to format or setup the pdf so that I can print it correctly. My program could be run on any number of Linux systems, with a multitude of printer types.
