View RepliesHow can i create a session when i loged in and how can i invalid it when i logout?
View RepliesI have index.jsp in that page logout is available. while hitting the button . i want to invalidate all the session variable which i used. but it is not happening.
<html:image src="/x/images/logout1.png" onclick="logout()"> </html:image><script type="text/javascript">
function logout() {
document.forms[0].action = "/x/x.do?method=dologout";
document.forms[0].submit();
[Code] .....
Even when i logout. then i start from new session means., session values continues from previous session. not killed.
I'm trying to design a website that will require users to register and login before they use it. In order to keep things separate, I was thinking it might be useful to create a single web archive that just handles the user signup and login. That way I could work on my other web archive apps independently and have them just check to see if the user has logged in and posted a token somewhere, and if not redirect to the login webpage.
View Replies View RelatedI'm experimenting the basic concepts of Servlet technology with my below simple setup.
I have a welcome.jsp defined under webContent in eclipse and my welcome.jsp looks like
<%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"
pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" [b]session="false"[/b]%>
<%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
[Code] ....
Now I have few questions based on the above setup
1) As you see session="false" in jsp, and when I used scriptlet like <%= request.getSession(false) %>, I see "null" being printed but if I use pageContext.request.session.id, the session is not null. How does session = "false" influences scriptlets and implicit objects and why the behavior is different
2) If session really exists, even when session=false is used, when I disabled cookies in FireFox browser and click on "click Me" hyperlink, the control goes to Controller, but in the servlet, I see 'No Session Created" being displayed. Which means session was not created and probably because I used false is getSession(false). But if I enable cookies, with the same setup, I get Session ID = << some value>> being printed and this is same as the session what printed through pageContext.request.session.id in the jsp.
So when cookies disabled, how can pageContext.request.session.id actually printed session id , but not in servlet and when cookies enabled, the same session id is displayed in both cases.
My question is why there is no impact in jsp, when cookies are disabled.
Can I access the session object even session has been expired? I need to check whether session is expired or not for each request.The session invalidation is set null the session object. What I concluded, session time out I can access session object but session invalidation I can not access session object. How can I find the session time out by using session object?
View Replies View RelatedI am developing a e-commerce college project, here i add the items in the cart(a div tag in the jsp page) via servlet by creating sessions,
flow control: shopping jsp (when user wants to add an item in the cart) --> item servlet (which is used to create session and synchronized it) --> cart servlet(which is used to add items in the arraylist and show them in the shopping.jsp's div tag + it also sets the total purchase amount in the session variable "totalpurchase")
now after that user wants to proceed to checkout, here i use the onclick event to check the minimumshopping amount must be less than the totalpurchase (totalpurchase which i had setted in the session),but my jsp page is unable to rechognise the updated value of the totalpurchase, yes, if i reload the page, it rechognises the new updated value of the totalpurchase? but i want it to rechognise the updated total purchase value, without reloading he jsp page..
I have a NetBeans web project on Tomcat 8.0.15, MySql (with Jconnector), Servlet/Jsp. I need a secure login!!! There is a login page. On successful login, if it is admin, servlet redirects to the admin page, if username is of a standardUser, the servlet redirects to the main page.
For now nothing works. The page is not redirected by servlet, on submit button press the error.html appears and shows response.getStatus() is 0!!! I tested(without login) servlet for username/password check against the DB and it works.
So Here is my code files: login.jsp:
<form id="loginForm" method="POST" action="j_security_check">
<input name="j_username" id="j_username" type="email" value="test.admin@vividspectradc.ca"></input>
<input name="j_password" id="j_password" type="password" value="test"></input>
<input id="loginSubmit" type="submit" value="Login"></input></form>
[Code] .....
Is context.xml - realm needed? Why error.html appears and shows response.getStatus() is 0?
So, how to create a secure login? How j_security_check connects to my MySql database!? - maybe that' the problem error page shows after login...?
I have a secured Struts application in WebSphere that uses FORM j_security_check for authentication.There is also a Post Logon "filter" defined which runs some code after a login is processed.The extract from web.xml showing the login configuration and filter is as follows:
<login-config>
<auth-method>FORM</auth-method>
<realm-name>MyRealm</realm-name>
<form-login-config>
<form-login-page>/login.html</form-login-page>
<form-error-page>/error.html</form-error-page>
[code]....
If a user isn't logged into the application and they try to access one of the secured servlets, for example quotes.do, they are directed to the login page to enter their information.If they login successfully, they are then directed to quotes.do, rather than the default "welcome" page. Is there a setting in the web.xml or the post logon filter where I can force j_security_check to ALWAYS go to the default welcome page after a successful login?
After confirmation to the login details I added new cookie having logging information and then dispatched this request to controller servlet where this cookie is checked if it is present then user is forwarded to a particular page. Otherwise is redirected to the sign in page. Now the problem is when we add cookies then it is added into "response" object and when we get cookies we get them from "request" object. So for the first time redirection to controller servlet "response" object would not have this cookie as it is not available in "request" object. But will be available for later requests.
My question is what is the way to get this cookie in the first request. Or is there any way to send refresh like response to the browser so that this cookie is added??
Make a password rule, and take input of the password from the user and compare the password with your rule, if the user had entered valid password then print the message, password valid, else the password is invalid for (the whatever) reason.
Rules:-
-Length 8-12
-Should have one numeric character
-No Special Character
-Atleast one UPPERCASE letter
PHP Code:
import java.util.*;
import java.lang.String;
import java.lang.Character;
public class PasswordSpence {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.print("Please enter a Password: ");
String password = input.next();
if (isValid(password)) {

There are two designation named admin and student. I just need to work in coding to open specific page by email of person like done in facebook or any other mail account.
well one thing I have done is that I have matched email,password and type(designation) in my servlet page to database and the program run and also open the page.If email,pass,type matched witn admin than admin.jsp opens up else student.jsp.But but I wants to open the specific pafe by email that shows the profile of logged in user like in facebook it opens.
In My application I want to implement functionality to let user login from only one system at a time. I am searching for something that can Identify the system uniquely (Like IP address or Mac address ). I am using servlet and I don't know how to access Mac in servelt

I want to implement a 'Keep me signed in' option in the login page of an application. I have noticed this option is present in the form of a checkbox on the login page of many websites but i don't know how it can be coded . When selected, a user is no longer asked for his username and password on subsequent sessions but he is automatically given access.

View Replies View RelatedI'm trying to learn java by making a login page using java, servlet, javascript, html and mysql. I can login with username and password, I can get all the information from database in the edit page. However, when I edit and click on "Submit" in EditPage.jsp, it gives HTTP Status 404. Same screen appears when I click on "Sign Up" from first page (NewFile.jsp) and click on "Submit" button after filling up user information.
I am posting all my code here but probably important ones are:
EditPage.jsp, Edit.java, EditDetails.java, UpdateUser.java and for Sign Up SignUpPage.jsp and Registration.java.

I'm trying to go back to basic and strengthen some of my foundation. I'm wondering what kind of data would be appropriate to be stored inside a session? My app is a web app where all the users are the employee of a company. So it's an web-based app that keeps track of stock movements, purchasing and sales order (standard distributor company). The web app interacts strictly with employees, so no public facing app (yes, that's right, no shopping cart). So, in this kind of web app, what kind of data that by storing it to session.
View Replies View RelatedI'm a new Java user and I'm trying to code a simple login page. In first page (NewFile.jsp) users should enter their username and password and should click on "login", or click on "sign up".
1.) If user enters his username and password correctly, a login page (LoginPage.jsp) appears and says "welcome null" but it should show the name of that user instead of null.
2.) In that login page there is an edit button to edit profile information. When I clicked on it, every information is "null" and when I edit them and click on "Submit" button;
HTTP Status 404 -
type Status report
message
description The requested resource () is not available.
GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 3.1.2
that message appears.
3.) If I click on "Sign Up" button at the beginning, a registration jsp (SignUpPage.jsp) appears. After filling up text boxes and clicking on "Submit", same Status 404 screen appears.
I created a mysql database called "loginpage" using xampp. In that database there is a table called "users" and it has un, pass, name, surname, email and degree attributes.

I have configured form based JAAS in my app. Basically, in web.xml I have declared security constraints on certain jsp page, declared specific roles, login and error pages. So, my login form is:
<form id="loginForm" action="j_security_check" method="post">
<p>
<label for="name">Username</label> <input name="j_username"
id="username" type="text" required/>
[Code] ....
This works fine when some user tries to access some of the pages declared in <security-constraint> tag of web.xml.
Container automatically manages login process, redirects to login page and if login details are valid, gives access to secured page.
Now, how should I implement login system so that user can go to login page (possibly same login form) and log in from there?
So I'm trying to create a simple user database that I could eventually turn into a login system. I created a simple table on MySQL with a name and address for the sake of simplicity. I tried to create simple statement inside my main method that would connect to my MySQL server and when I run my program I get a ClassNotFoundException from "org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"..Here is what I have in my main method thus far:
public static void main(String args[]) {
try {
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"); //Load the driver
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/data", "root", ""); //Connect
/*
conn.createStatement().execute("CREATE TABLE people (" + "id int(64) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT," + "name varchar(255) NOT NULL," + "address varchar(255) NOT NULL," + "UNIQUE (id)," + "FULLTEXT(name, address))");

I downloaded Connector/J in the the binary .zip form and extracted it to my C: drive and put the .jar file into my java directories lib folder. I also added the directory of the .jar file into my CLASSPATH and I still get the exception.
We have this website that is run on two web applications. The first web application hosts the home page and clicking certain links in the home page would forward it to pages of the second web application where certain functionalities can be done. Now, there has been an initiative to redesign the site to have a login page and only logged in users could browse it. This would mean a login page being created in the first app, and when links to the second application are clicked, the pages are supposed to forward to it with the same session of the user that logged in.
We have already creating handling to pass the session from the first app to the second. Logging out from the first application would also invalidate the same user session in the second application. My questions is, is this a bad idea? would it be better to combine the two apps even if it would mean a huge impact?
or is there are better way to do this? like set it in web.xml. I have read that you cannot use two context for it.
I am getting following exception.

Now I want to store those username and age(in .html) somewhere and I want those information in welcome.jsp. Now, I'm storing all those in session itself(In doGet method(servlet)).
2 Doubt) Also, when I get the session in servlet HttpSession session = request.getSession(); line No. 27. The session value is org. apache. catalina. session. StandardSessionFacade@69a8bf4f...I'm expecting that session is to be empty. Because, I dint store anything until that line.
Why is it that objects stored in session object should be serializable?
