I would like to understand how does multipart/form-data works during file upload scenario's, Does it chunks the data from client to server while transferring the files ?
I a simple server that receives bytes using TCP and then saves them to a file stream.Through many tests I have seen that the first packet received is always just the filename with no other data. The second packet received only has one byte and it is the first letter of the input text file. After this all packets are sent correctly, but I can't seem to figure out what is messing up the second packet. It also appears that the last packet is written twice.

Another peculiarity to me is that the second to last packet is always just "-" and then the last packet has the remainder of the magic string which terminates the file output stream.
I am aware that it is not safe to make the assumption that the file name will be sent in one go before the loop, but I wil fix that later. I am not concerned about it at all now. THe problem si that the loop should account for any amount read in, but for some reason the first packet always contains one letter, and the second packet picks up around 16000 bytes later for some reason. So I'm trying to make a program that plays an mp3 file after a timer reaches 0, but i keep receiving the error "could not create audio stream from input stream" the audio file is 3.44 MB and 00:03:45 minutes long if that's a problem
I have a servlet which sends HTML5 server sent events to the jsp client. The servlet sends data to the client every one second. The jsp client instantiates a new eventsource and recieves the data. When the window is about to close, the jsp client closes eventsource at the "beforeunload" event (shown in the code below).
However, I have noticed that even after the client closes the eventsource and the browser exits, the server continues sending data. As far as the documentation on eventsource goes, using eventsource.close() is enough to stop client from reconnecting to the server and the server will stop sending any further push notifications.
Why the server does not stop sending push notifications even after eventsource.close() and the browser exit? Do I write any other piece of code to notify the server to stop sending data once client exits?

So in that file object(java.io.File fileContent = new java.io.File("document.txt");) asking complete file path. But in file upload we can get only file name not path.
Our client has a user facing web application running on Jboss. There is a separate admin application (in its own ear) but deployed on same Jboss server on which user facing web application is running.
They need a screen to upload large amount of data into database. Their original files were in excel with size > 60 mb. We suggested following to them:
a. Change upload format to CSV - this brought down file sizes to 25-30 mb b. Upload process will be MDB - asynchronous processing of data so that admin web app does not stop responding
We also suggested following to them:
a. Host admin app on a different machine so that user facing site does not respond slow during data processing b. We can provide incremental upload feature and they should upload files in the chunks of 4-5 mb, specifically if they have user a web page to upload such files - they don't buy this argument though. c. Data processing can be a separate script instead of a part of admin web application. They can FTP files to a designated location and this script will process those files.
I have following questions:
Q1 - Have you seen upload of such large datafiles to a web application? I see sites like Zoho CRM or Salesforce do not support such data imports and mostly fail or not respond. Q2 - Is there a set of guidelines/best practices to upload large data files of this nature? How do insurance companies or others with enormous set of data accomplish such tasks (what is the architecture of such programs)?
I am going to to develop an app for my final year project. basically the app is to show live video streaming on android phone from remote CCTV . The project is just in design phase i know the networking part i.e static ip for dvr etc but i dnt know how to get stream of data from dvr and how to control the CCTV camera i.e camera movement....
I have a requirement where a large file (100 -200MB) is uploaded from the client to a content management system. I am using a servlet with Apache Commons File Upload API. Apache FileUpload has 2 ways of handling files,
1) Non-Streaming 2) Streaming
Currently I use the Non-Streaming approach where the servlet stores the file in a temp location and upload the same into the content management system - This is taking lot of time so I am trying to implement Streaming API.
Content Management API supports streaming in 2 methods,
a) SetContent - Takes the file's ByteArrayOutputStream as input -> This gives OutOfMemoryException because the file being large b) AppendContent - Takes the file's ByteArrayOutputStream as input -> This method can be called multiple times to upload the large file but I dont know how to do this. The Apache File Upload gives InputStream of the file and I need to split that into chuncks and append into the content management system.
How to convert InputStream to 4KB ByteArrayOutputStream so that I can use the AppendContent method in content management API?

I've been reading up on different methods to saving and retrieving data and have decided ObjectInputStream would be the best option.
The save method works fine, I opted to use a EndOfFile class to determine when I've reached the end of the input stream. The problem is, when my loop encounters this object, it doesn't terminate the loop.

I want to write Metadata to a JPEg image using the Exif 'XPComment' field.
Because the standart Java libraries does not support writing metadata I tried using the JAI (Java Advanced Imaging) and Sanselan (Commons Sanselan - Commons ) but I was not able to find an example or something else which create a working code.
I am able to upload the file to the server, but I am not able to get the value of text1 in the servlet (I am getting null value of text1 in the servlet), I need this textfield in the form to submit some additional information while uploading it to the server.
--> Is enctype="multipart/form-data" option of form doesn't allow other form data to be submited? if it doesn't allow it then what are the other options I have to send this additional textfield to the server.
By using FileReader, FileWriter and their constituents, I am creating a file to contain employee information ( name, age, hours, etc. ). The user is to input all of the data on a single line and we were asked to implement StringTokenizer to assign that data to the file. I have never used the StringTokenizer before, but I have a rough idea how it is to function. I used pw.println to test what I have so far, now I would like to let the user build the initial file with the "first employees" of the company, and then view the file, and then go back and append new employee data to that same file. My question is, how can I take the user input as a StringTokenizer and add that to the file?
In the for loop below, I thought I would see if it would work, but it does not. The loop only executes once and does not allow me to enter data.

I'm a complete beginner in Java programming and I'm interested to learn more about its concepts.
Recently, I've been given an exercise which instructs me to display two versions of a picture. The picture to be displayed is provided in the form of a data file of 40,000 digits that are arranged in rows (although there is no marker between rows) and it starts from the top of the picture. So the first digit represents the top left corner of the picture and the last is the bottom right.
Basically, what the exercise wants me to construct a program that plots a dot in one of two colours for each digit. If the digit is in the range 0 to 3 the output should be one colour and for digits in the range 4 to 9 the dot should be in the other colour.
I understand I have to use arrays and also loops to perform this. I'm familiar with the fillEllipse, drawEllipse, drawRectangle and fillRectangle but this exercise is nothing I've attempted before.
I am looking to do it on data carving which is a technique used in digital forensics to extract known file information from unstructered raw data.
So, Lets say I make a bit for bit image of a usb drive that has some deleted images on it, jpeg maybe.
I can still recover this file by locating its header and footer information as its raw data is still on the drive after it has been deleted.
I would like to build a java application to automate this task. My problem is I dont know how to read any of the known digital forensics image (bit for bit copy of the driv) formats such as aff, e01 or raw dd.
Is it possible for me to read bytes from a raw data file in java, maybe search that file for the bytes I need and pull them out of there, perhaps to an array or something ??
I was thinking, if I could get all the raw data into a binary file in java it might be easier to work from there. What I really need is to get access to those bytes. If I could even write them all out to a text file, Id have something to work with.
