Servlets :: Making Attributes From Textboxes And Storing Latest Passed Variable?
Mar 12, 2015
I am trying to make the variables that will be taken in from a type='text' box in HTML in NetBeans available to the other servlets as well as store and display the latest value passed into these boxes on the servlet page when the submit button is clicked or display null if the box has not yet received a value. However, I do not understand how to do this and do not understand as to why my current output is always null?
i) Is ServletContext().getAttribute("name of my textbox") really the way to pass the attributes to all servlets?
ii) Is ServletContext() passed in the service request?
iii) How to store the latest value passed into the submit box?
I have to use the company's login resource, which returns a login page for authentication after a browser/user page request; after successfully authenticated, the session attributes are set in a (remote) valued object (VO) invoked via servlet; then, such values are set in my (local) POJO.
I want to display the current user session attribute (see xChave below) and save it in database. How can I persist http User session attributes through the structure below?
Abstract Controller (just the main code):
public abstract class AbstractController<T> { @Inject private AbstractFacade<T> ejbFacade; private Class<T> itemClass; private T selected; private Collection<T> items; //GETTERS AND SETTERS OMMITED public AbstractController(Class<T> itemClass) { this.itemClass = itemClass; }

`MyQueueBean` is intended to give out a bird once only, to exactly one end-user. Because it's application scoped, and not session scoped, getting attributes directly from the bean would give inconsistent results.
The birds application is from Facelets Essentials Guide to JavaServer Faces View Definition Framework: [URL] ....
how is the variable passed to the file? Once it's passed, how is it referenced?
I have an html form with 200 input fields of type text. The first input field contains the name of a book author and the remaining 199 fields hold each a title of a book that he or she has written. I also have a servlet that processes the form data and sends it to a file. The entered data is restricted to a combination of the characters "a...z A...Z". how do i go about with creating my html page. The input fields are just too many, how to retrieve the 200 values in servlet.
<html> <head> <script> var k; function testField(Expression){ k=1; var str1="abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz "; var sor=Expression;
I have a webform on JSP page which has several parameters(strings and integers) values and a file to be uploaded to the server through a servlet. It is strange to see that i'm able to upload the file on to the server but not able to get the rest of the parameters in the servlet using request.getParameter("someString") .
What is the difference between Attributes and Parameters.that is difference between two methods request.getAttribute() and request.getParameter() and why we have this two methods?
I am building an application that has two types of users. While some of the fields (ie: username, email address, password) are the same for both user types, other fields are different for each user type.
Therefore, I would like to split up the process of registering (ie: writing the user info to database) into two parts:
1) registering the common fields among both user types (servlet 1) 2) registering the specific fields based on the user type that is registering (servlet 2a and servlet 2b).
Therefore, once servlet 1 is processed, I wish to forward the request to servlet 2a or 2b depending on what type of user is registering.
I wish to do this since I will have other parts of my application that will make use of servlets 2a and 2b as well. Is this possible to do (redirect request parameters from jsp to servlet and then to another servlet)?
The authenticatedUser and menu attributes are gone. I never know when it's going to happen so I can't trace it. Any guesses why those type session objects would die?
I attached an image of what menu object looks like.
Can I store multiple rows of a table in a two dimensional string array in java.. The table has 3 columns and approximately 10,000 rows.. Some pointers for coding to achieve this...
I am trying to use three cookies in a servlet to store the background and foreground color and text size but my code is not working for some reason. When I run the servlet I get an IndexOutOfBounds exception and in my code is says my cookies are not ever used, when they should be to store the variables?
I am trying to make a program that calculates the change due in dollars and cents. The user inputs both the amount due and the amount tendered. My program only works with whole numbers?
Now I want to store those username and age(in .html) somewhere and I want those information in welcome.jsp. Now, I'm storing all those in session itself(In doGet method(servlet)).
2 Doubt) Also, when I get the session in servlet HttpSession session = request.getSession(); line No. 27. The session value is org. apache. catalina. session. StandardSessionFacade@69a8bf4f...I'm expecting that session is to be empty. Because, I dint store anything until that line.
I'm a new Java user and I'm trying to code a simple login page. In first page (NewFile.jsp) users should enter their username and password and should click on "login", or click on "sign up".
1.) If user enters his username and password correctly, a login page (LoginPage.jsp) appears and says "welcome null" but it should show the name of that user instead of null.
2.) In that login page there is an edit button to edit profile information. When I clicked on it, every information is "null" and when I edit them and click on "Submit" button;
HTTP Status 404 - type Status report message description The requested resource () is not available. GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 3.1.2
that message appears.
3.) If I click on "Sign Up" button at the beginning, a registration jsp (SignUpPage.jsp) appears. After filling up text boxes and clicking on "Submit", same Status 404 screen appears.
I created a mysql database called "loginpage" using xampp. In that database there is a table called "users" and it has un, pass, name, surname, email and degree attributes.
my Servlet as I would like my Servlet to run first and to create a session var then forward the value to the JSP (the GUI ) and have the JSP able to send a var back to the Servlet for reprocessing and update the session var to again be sent to the JSP and so on . - The Servlet contains logic to handle incorrect input types and directly out puts a HTML error page..
Below I will add the code I have so far and a link to the question in my Text Book.
My code:
JSP Page:
bank.JSP :
<% //Starts outputting the HTML Form %> <html> <head>
Why we need to use ServletContext attribute when we already have ServletContext parameters.Whats the difference between ServletContext Attributes and ServletContext parameters.
I am learning Java but have a strong C# background. I am trying to figure out the syntax to do this in Java. In C# I would do the following to enable all text boxes in a panel
private void EnableAll() { foreach (Control ctrl in Panel1.Controls) { if (ctrl is Textbox) ((Textbox)ctrl.Enabled = true; } }
Is there something similar I can do in Java to do the same thing.
So here is what i have so far for my sudoku game. Now my grid only displays textboxes where a user can input numbers but nothing will happen yet. I want to know how to make it so that the user can only input one character and only numbers. i would also like to know how to make some textboxes jdialogs displaying uneditable numbers that im taking from a sudoku website for the puzzle.
Main Class
import javax.swing.JOptionPane; public class Game{ public static void main(String[] args) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Hello. Welcome to a game of Sudoku by Ezra Zike."); Level select = new Level();
My application uses Struts and IBM Web application Server. I have a question regarding session management. I have a variable stored in session scope, i.e. the name of the client. it is a intranet application. Now whenever the user leaves the browser screen for a long time, the session times out and losses the name of the client.
How to restore the variable after the client comes back and starts using the browser and refreshes the screen and starts using the application. I want just the browser to remember the session variable i.e. "name" of the client.
I have a question with this gui project I am building, I have gotten the code to work in very basic forms such as the main part of calculations and etc. But now I am in the phase of validation to make sure the textboxes aren't empty and are in the correct format. I have done alot research already. I would like to use a Joptionpane to warn the user of an invalid entry. But I have tried many different methods and I can't seem to get them to work.
When ran I get these errors: (only copied a few of the main lines)
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "p" at sun.misc.FloatingDecimal.readJavaFormatString(FloatingDecimal.java:1241) at java.lang.Double.parseDouble(Double.java:540) at car.loan.NewJFrameCarloan.calculateActionPerformed(NewJFrameCarloan.java:228) at car.loan.NewJFrameCarloan.access$500(NewJFrameCarloan.java:17) at car.loan.NewJFrameCarloan$6.actionPerformed(NewJFrameCarloan.java:106) at javax.swing.AbstractButton.fireActionPerformed(AbstractButton.java:2018)
My dynamic web project has a java class that captures a session variable with the following code.
HttpSession LoginSession = request.getSession(); String VAR = LoginSession.getAttribute("myVar").toString(); //This is the row 127
If i test the app in local (Mac + Java 1.8 + Tomcat 8) all works. In my remote cloud server (Ubuntu 14.10 + Java 1.8 + Tomcat 8) all works, except this class, that has this code. I copy the complete error here. Note that the row 127 of the error message is the second row of the previous code; and, if i comment this row with // and assign a fix variable all works. So, the problem is that 127^ row.

And as it is now, the values are not being passed into the shapeArray array. If I "hard code" two shapes into the array in this class, everything works fine later on, but I do not manage to pass values into the array from the createShape() method. I tried several approaches, nothing works.
I'm having some trouble figuring out how to change the value of a variable that is passed into a class. I've tried just changing the variable, I've tried changing it by using the this.variable command, and I've even tried calling the setter class from within the class to change it, but it's still not working right. The first class is the one with Main in it and I just feed it some dummy data:
public class ExamConverter { public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub Age testAge = new Age();
[Code] .....
This is the other class to calculate the age the way we do it on psych tests - it might not be mathematically accurate, but it's what all the tables and such for raw to scaled score conversion are based on, so the math needs to be the same as opposed to "accurate" because of some months having 30 or 31 days, etc.
public class Age { //==================Properties================== // Variables for the test date and client date of birth private int TestMonth; private int TestDay; private int TestYear; private int ClientMonth; private int ClientDay; private int ClientYear;
[Code] ......
Based on this dummy data, the output is: Test: 5/4/2014 DOB: 5/5/1971 Age Years: 43 Months: 0 Days: 0
However, it should be: Test: 5/4/2014 DOB: 5/5/1971 Age Years: 42 Months: 11 Days: 29
If I have a method that takes an ArrayList of a class called Piece and it uses the setPosition() method from Piece. It is changing the value of the array that I passed in, but I want the ArrayList to stay the same outside of the method. Is there any way I can change only the values on the inside of the method, but keep the same position values outside the method?Here is an example.
Piece class Java Code: public class Piece { private int xCoor; private int yCoor;
