I am able to upload the file to the server, but I am not able to get the value of text1 in the servlet (I am getting null value of text1 in the servlet), I need this textfield in the form to submit some additional information while uploading it to the server.
--> Is enctype="multipart/form-data" option of form doesn't allow other form data to be submited? if it doesn't allow it then what are the other options I have to send this additional textfield to the server.
I've got a banner that displays on the web page and users can close it out by clicking an "X" button in its corner. Once it's closed, we track for that session that it remains closed, so a cookie gets set. I'd like subsequent requests to the server to be aware of this cookie so that the banner code is just not included in subsequent responses. (Sidebar: earlier I was just detecting the cookie after page load and then hiding the banner but it creates a lag where the banner is visible then suddenly pops away, making for poor user experience.)
I expect that even though Javascript set the cookie it would then show up in HttpServletRequest.getCookies() call, but there's actually a lot of cookies visible in Chrome Developer Tools on the client of my page that don't show up in .getCookies(). Does the HttpServletResponse.addCookie need called at some point first for the cookie to be passed back and forth to server?
I need to check in my java class the status of the javascript (whether it's enabled or disabled) and based on that few validations will be performed at server side.

i don't need ordinary javascript alert box. so i was use the jquery modal alert box for different action like success, error etc.but i have problem to call the alert box within servlet.

I have an html form with 200 input fields of type text. The first input field contains the name of a book author and the remaining 199 fields hold each a title of a book that he or she has written. I also have a servlet that processes the form data and sends it to a file. The entered data is restricted to a combination of the characters "a...z A...Z". how do i go about with creating my html page. The input fields are just too many, how to retrieve the 200 values in servlet.

I just wrote a simple servlet with a doPost() implementation (no doGet()).
I fill out a simple HTML form with one textfield and two radio buttons. When I press the submit button, it takes me to my servlet that prints out my submitted name and my radio button choices. So now my browser is sitting at the servlet URL with the results on the page:

What exactly happens when I press F5 on this page and I say 'Yes' to Chrome's "Confirm form resubmission"?
I was surprised, because the browser remembered my previously entered request parameters, when I know that these should be destroyed upon exiting the servlet's HTTP method.
So, this is what I assume: What the resubmission does is re-enter exactly the same request parameters back into the previous form and it hits the submit button for me, which brings me back to the page of the servlet (/Choice).
I'm not sure, what happens on forced form resubmission (F5)?

I almost have it working, however when I hit the "sort" button; I get the message that appears after a user clicks the add button along with the sorted list of names. It looks like this:

I have two programs that I'll post below, one is a Server and the other is a Client. The ChatServer runs once and many clients can run ChatClient from separate computers and talk together in their GUI's. The the client program comes with two buttons, one that's simulates the sending of a message to a single user ; "Send Message To User", and one that just generally sends a message ; "Send Message To All". Although now the Clients on the server seem to be able to selectively send messages to an individual by giving the recipient name, all the clients can see that message, which is not exact what I am aiming for. What I am going for is having the "Send Message To User" button click to send a message to the named user without all other users seeing the message.
Now I have tried thing like having various input output streams and trying to connect those, but no luck. Tried fiddling with having the names arraylist directing the messages to one client versus all but that did not work out either. How I what I would need to do to go about doing this?
I have a webform on JSP page which has several parameters(strings and integers) values and a file to be uploaded to the server through a servlet. It is strange to see that i'm able to upload the file on to the server but not able to get the rest of the parameters in the servlet using request.getParameter("someString") .
I am having an issue with retrieving "grouped" data from HTML form to servlet. I will describe the scenario below.
In companies, they record the salary of the employees once a month.When they record it, they do not do it by visiting each an every employees personal "profile" (or whatever according to the system). Instead what they do is apply the salaries of all of them in one page.
To do the above thing they prefer excel like tabular sheets. Now, I have a html form, where the form content is a table. One row is dedicated to a one employee.
As you can see, I have wrapped every row with a `<tbody>`. The `value` attribute of the `<tbody>` will contain the employee id. Once the form is submitted, the below servlet will capture it.
What I was trying is get the `value` attribute of `<tbody>` (so I can identify the id of the employee) and get the data inside that `<tbody>`. However this didn't work, because I ended up with `NullpointerException` because it failed to read the `<tbody>` value.
So, how can I pass the data from table to servlet where it can clearly understand that one row is representing data belong to a one employee? If this is not the way to do it, I am also open for other methods.
I'm trying to learn java by making a login page using java, servlet, javascript, html and mysql. I can login with username and password, I can get all the information from database in the edit page. However, when I edit and click on "Submit" in EditPage.jsp, it gives HTTP Status 404. Same screen appears when I click on "Sign Up" from first page (NewFile.jsp) and click on "Submit" button after filling up user information.
I am posting all my code here but probably important ones are:

I am currently working on a module where huge amount of data needs to be sent to the weblogic server. The limit on Weblogic-> Server - > Protocols is 10MB.
The huge data is coming when i try to add more than 20 rows to the Ajax request.
There are possible two solutions for this
1) Increase the limit on Weblogic server to 1Gb which might lead to server crash when two or more users are trying to add 100 records at the same time. 2) Send memory in the form of chunks of (length of a row) every time I add a row. Store this in session and upon form submission retrieve from session. This cannot work if there are more than 20 users doing load testing as increase in session data decrease performance gradually.
I need that data passed to my server without any performance or errors.Currently its showing weblogic.socket.MaxMesssageSizeExceededException and RequestURI too long errors.
I'm a new Java user and I'm trying to code a simple login page. In first page (NewFile.jsp) users should enter their username and password and should click on "login", or click on "sign up".
1.) If user enters his username and password correctly, a login page (LoginPage.jsp) appears and says "welcome null" but it should show the name of that user instead of null.
2.) In that login page there is an edit button to edit profile information. When I clicked on it, every information is "null" and when I edit them and click on "Submit" button;

That's my codes but its wrong according to our prof. it should be in frame form. i don't know how to do it since i did not encountered framing since i was started in java.
I have a form containing several fields, 2 of which persist to different table in a database than the rest of the fields on the form. I have no problem persisting the data into both tables of the database, and after the form is submitted I reset the form to its default values. That all works fine.
But in the same session, when I open another form (a search form) and enter search criteria, which then displays a datatable containing the search results, those 2 values that are persisted to another table are not showing up, but the rest of the data is.
Here is the method that calls the persist methods:

The values do show up, but the problem is, when a subsequent form is opened in the same session (e.g. a search form) the field for that value shows the actual value, instead of the field being blank.'
I am not sure why the data from the one database ("parent") is showing up, yet the data from the other database ("child") is not.
Is it something I am doing wrong? I thought by setting the setter in the child controller class back to a new instance of the Entity class (PolicyPayment) that it would reset the form to default values, but at the same time retain (or save) the inputted values in the same session.
I have a button on UI which adds messages and when the user clicks on it the form gets submitted, meanwhile the user is clicking on refresh(F5) multiple times which is causing the same message to be displayed multiple times. I have a java application in which when starting it a map is opened and a screen is captured. The capturing is in certain time interval. I want to enable the user to change the interval for the automatic capturing the map. I placed a text box in a JPanel. I want to pass the value which was entered in it to the html page which opens a Google map. Since I am new in java programming, I found that I can do it by using applets. I made an applet, and tried to call it in the html file. But now instead of opening the map file in a browser, it opens very quickly only black window.
