Export And Import Of Configuration Files
Apr 24, 2015I have a library that I'm writing, the library contains a spring xml configuration file (lets say it's called libraryContext.xml) that sets the library up correctly for runtime, it also includes a test spring xml file that sets the library up for test by importing libraryContext.xml and overriding certain dependency injection beans (the library basically connects to a real database under normal conditions and uses dummy DAO's under test conditions). That bit is all fine.
The thing is, when I build the jar for the library (lets say it's called library-0.1.jar), the jar does not seem to contain the libraryContext.xml and that means that I can't import library.xml into my applications context.xml.
Basically, I have this line in my applications context.xml

Unsurprisingly, since the xml file is not contained in the library-0.1.jar, the error I get is,

nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanDefinitionStoreException:
IOException parsing XML document from class path resource [libraryContext.xml];
nested exception is java.io.FileNotFoundException: class path resource [libraryContext.xml] cannot be opened because it does not exist mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
With respect to potential solutions to the above problem, I could:
1) physically copy the libraryContext.xml file (and its other *.xml and *.properties dependencies) into the application, but then I'd have to maintain duplicate files - I don't like this option.
2) find out if there is a better way to handle this problem from people who know better. E.g. is there a way to embed the libraryContext.xml file (and it's dependencies) into the jar file so that it can then be imported into the application. I've spent a while on google trying to figure this out and haven't come up with anything overly useful (perhaps I've been using the wrong search parameters).
Create A Database Configuration File And Include All Other Files
Apr 19, 2014I am creating an application in core java where i am using database. I need to create a database configuration file & include it all other files. So, how can i do that ?

I cannot do this in an interface since only abstract methods exist there. I tried to create an another class file to extend it but my program is already extending other class i.e. javax.swing.JFrame..How can i implement this ? just by creating the object of that class in main method ?
Converting HGT Files To Proprietary Format
Sep 16, 2014I have to read SRTM .hgt binary files in Java and then rewrite them in a binary proprietary format. The format is to write the .hgt file as 2-dimensional binary array of either 1 byte, 2 byte, 3 byte or 4 byte integers in BIG ENDIAN format. I have chosen short as the data type(2 bytes) because I believe the data in the .hgt file has the maximum value of 32767. I am enclosing the code here - how do I read the data into 2-dimensional array ?

Servlets :: CSS Stylesheet Will Not Work With JSP Files
Feb 11, 2014Why I can't get an external style sheet work work when using JSP files? Putting a link in the doc head like I would for an HTML or PHP file does not work. The style sheet is in the exact same directory as the JSP files and I cannot get it to work. I think I have tried about everything that has been suggested on the web with no luck.
If I create an HTML doc in the same directory as the JSP files, and add the below line in the document head, it works fine. Doing the same thing with a JSP file does nothing.

Aug 18, 2014I would like to know what is the best way to upload & download files using Servlets/Jsp's . In some websites I have seen example using third party API(by oreilly). Is it better to follow any third party or can we do it just by using I/O streams. What are the steps of uploading files. And where do we need to store files once the user uploads ,Database or server??

Servlets :: ROOT Mapping Causes Static Files To Not Be Served
Mar 16, 2015When I map my servlet to the ROOT of the site, the javascript, CSS and image files are not served. The conversation between the server and browser shows the files are being sent, but they are not rendered in the browser. This happens in both Firefox and Chrome.
If I change the mapping to anything other than the root, such as /x/, everything works as it should.

Now the problem is if i close the DirContext.close(), when the next request comes the singleton wont work as the dir context is already closed, hence it will create a new dir context for each requests. Which breaks the singleton concept, hence how we can ensure the singleton works fine even with DirContext.close()?
How To Set State Of Radio Button Based On Configuration File
Apr 10, 2014I am using Java Swing to create a GUI. I have some radio buttons on a JFrame that gets opened when the user makes a certain selection. I want to read a config file to have the radio buttons selected or deselected when the form is opened to indicate the current state of the radio button based on the saved config file.
How do I go about setting the radio button as selected (visibly selected) when I open up the JFrame?
I was trying to use RadioButton.setSelected(True); but this doesn't actually visibly select the radio button.

why the default date format that the textbox accepts is in 'mm/dd/yyyy'.For example if i entered "13-05-2014" then it would return an error stating date is invalid.If i entered "12-05-2014" then it would return "5 Dec, 2014".I did not declare any dateformat anywhere except for the datepickers which as shown above, is 'd MMM, yyyy'.Before this happened i trialed and error many different kind of codes to try to validate the date however it all didnt work and so i reverted it all back to the original codes.Last time the dateformat that the textbox accepted was 'dd/mm/yyyy' and it worked fine with my javascript function except the validation part.
Now it still works except that the dateformat changed to 'mm/dd/yyyy'.I did try to use console.log to find out what's wrong but there were no error messages.Why has the dateformat changed by itself?

Accounts department is able to download some pages to Excel format and it is working properly.. now in the sales they have to download in pdf format.. then only it is possible to send to the HO..now what they are doing is downloading the JSP page in excel format and converting to pdf manually using the Acrobat Printer.. is that possible to change to pdf format.. for converting to excel format.. i'm just using 2 linesand it is here

currently the timer works its format is in 00:00 minutes:seconds, but i want it to start as MMMM d, yyyy h:mm:ss, for example March 17 2014 00:00:01, so only one second has passed here. i believe the set and get format method is fine but the timerhaschanged needs to change as this is where the format takes place.
Enforcing A Format On String?
May 8, 2014Alright, so let's say I have this string. I want to make it so that the string for this variable has to follow a certain format.
For example, "AAA-B", where the A's are a digit 0-9, the - is always in the same spot, and B is a letter but only from A-M. All of this for a single instance variable.
Is this possible? How could I go about doing this.
