Servlets :: Provide Interface To Operator To Manage Multiple Printers Of Smart Cards

May 9, 2014

Part of my app is to provide an interface to an operator to manage multiple printers of smart cards.

A JSP page displays all printers and each printer has a print button.

I want the operator to press several buttons and each button pressed starts a thread.

Threads should run in parallel and pressing a button does not cancel the processing of the previous button.

Counting Cards GUI Interface

Dec 5, 2014

I curious for tips for moving forward within my current code for my counting cards GUI interface. I need two labels one for the card deck, and the other for the randomized card face. When the card face shows, in the count value text field the value of the card is added. For each card this is to happen through until the whole deck. There is also a card count text field to count how many cards have been dealt out. Now with that being said, I am being held back by getting the two labels to show in my GUI, the buttons show, but I need getting the cards and its value to show and initialize, with the card count in the card count text field.

Java Deck Of Cards And Dealing Five Cards

Aug 2, 2014

Basically I started writing my code in one class, then I split it up into a Card class and a DeckOfCards class and I now need to figure out how to get it all to work together. I get a little confused with calling methods sometimes, especially when separate classes are in play. I think I just need a method to deal out . Besides getting it all working together correctly. I'm also having trouble creating the method to deal out five cards that also tells how many cards are left in the deck and I believe I need a toString method but I honestly do not know how to go about that.

Design and implement a class called Card that represents a standard playing card. Each card has a suit and a face value. Then create a class called DeckOfCards that stores 52 objects of the Card class. Include methods to shuffle the deck, deal a card and report the number of cards left in the deck. The shuffle methods should assume a full deck. Create a driver class (CardsGame) with a main method that deals five cards from the shuffled deck, printing each card as it is dealt. Make sure to write the appropriate constructors, getters, setters, toString and other methods as required for both classes.

The main class, CardsGame Class

import java.util.Scanner;
public class CardsGame {
public static void main (String [] args) {
DeckOfCards deck = new DeckOfCards();
//call shuffle
deck.shuffle();

Deck Of Cards And Dealing Five Cards

I have an assignment for my summer class. FYI, I think the prof would rather arrays then enums since we're dealing with arrays right now hence the array for the 52 card deck.

Here are the directions...

Design and implement a class called Card that represents a standard playing card. Each card has a suit and a face value. Then create a class called DeckOfCards that stores 52 objects of the Card class. Include methods to shuffle the deck, deal a card and report the number of cards left in the deck. How To Manage Imports

Feb 27, 2015

My first Java project contains 30+ imports, all of which are for specific classes -- I'm using NetBeans and whenever I instantiate a new, unimported class I just click on the "light bulb" and tell it to import. I'm only now starting to worry about code management and conventions.

As you can imagine, many of these imported classes live in just a few packages, like awt and file.nio. It's starting to make my code a little cluttered. In the real world, what is the convention for import statements? My instincts tell me I should just import using the .* wildcard, but how do professionals do it? If an experienced programmer were to pull my code from Github, what would they want or expect to see in the import lines of code: a bunch of specific imports, or wildcard imports?

JSP :: Read Name And Gender From HTML Form And Provide Feedback

May 12, 2014

For a class assignment I have to write a JSP program that will get the name and gender from a simple HTML form and then provide feedback to the user such as "Enter your name" if they leave that field blank. The HTML form has a textField for the name and two radio buttons for male and female, plus a submit button. We covered JSPs only briefly so along with being a Java newbie, JSPs are pretty foreign. I had written the same program as a servlet so I attempted using the similar code for the JSP. I'm using switch to get the gender from the radio buttons but that doesn't seem to work as I keep getting the response "Please select your gender".

My JSP code:

<%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"
pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1"%>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

JList Manipulation - How Operating Systems Manage Processes

Sep 29, 2014

I am attempting to use JLists to complete a program that models how operating systems manage processes. A quick synopsis of what it is supposed to do. Each process is to have a priority level (I chose to do 1 -3 with 3 being the most important) and there are supposed to be three lists. One for ready processes, blocked processes, and a running process.

My issues:

1) when I block a process it does indeed switch lists but when it is copied into the blocked list it pulls the element number instead of what the actual process number is. For ex: Say the ready list has 5 processes / I delete 2 / Leaving process 1, 2, 5. When I block 5, it gets registered in the blocked list as process 2.

2) I can't figure out how to give a label to each of my scroll panels (JLists) to signify which box is ready / blocked / and running

3) My switch button - I have commented in what I need to do but don't know how I am going to do it.

Below are my files:

Main

import java.util.Comparator;
import java.util.PriorityQueue;
import java.util.Queue;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JTextArea;
public class PQueue {
public static void main(String[] args) throws InterruptedException {

is there a way to manage these from an all users level, particularly with a deployment (ie, SCCM)?

Compound Assignment Operator

Jan 8, 2014

I just cant seem to understand the order of precedence here.

class Test{
public static void main(String[] args){
int k = 1;
k += (k = 4) * (k + 2);
System.out.println( k );
}
}

From what I have read compound operators have the lowest order of precedence... But the above piece of code makes the assignment k = 1 + (k = 4) * (k + 2) before evaluating the rest of the statement first.

It then evaluates (k = 4) and proceeds with the remained of the statement 1 + 4 * (4 + 6)....

I dont understand why the first k is assigned 1 but the remaining ks 4. Should they not all be 1 or 4 (I would have thought 4, since += has the lost order of precedence so is evaluated last)??
