Is it possible to launch windows, specifically 8.1, directly into a java based program which would serve as the password entry screen? That is to say, instead of using the standard windows screen, could a java based alternative be used?
I have the source code used on jurassicsystems.com. I would absolutely kill to have a tweaked version of this system act as my password entry screen. It is literally something Ive wanted to have done for ages, and this emulation finally means it may be possible.
I have a project requirement, where I need a desktop java application to interact with web pages. I am currently working in java, so I decided to go with jsp and other java related web technologies. The project requirement is that, there is desktop java application and I need it to interact with web pages. I have zero idea about jsp, jsf etc. Is it possible to make my desktop app to interact with jsp or should I proceed with servlets. If I need to go with servlets, can the front end be designed as an attractive page?
I try to create Java Swing Desktop application which show Road map of some area in JFrame. But pc not connected to internet it will be in LAN. Map should be like if we scroll the mouse we go down from height in map. Like zooming the area.
I try to find out by google i get lots of forum links but each showing me.
1. I have to do web application. 2. Google not support 'without internet' map facility. 3. I should use lots of jpgs which store in folder for showing map from various height so it look like when we see any map in Google Earth application.
I found goworldwind.org but not clear understanding right now.
At our company we run a third-party Java-based GUI application on one of our Linux server machine, displaying the application to our local Windows work stations using the Cygwin X Server.We noticed a few problems with a new version of this application and was able to narrow it down to the following conditions:
1. Java Swing application running on a UNIX host; 2. Java used is 1.6 (problem not noticed when using Java 1.5) 3. Displaying to Cygwin X server (I've heard other windows-based X servers have the same issue, but I don't have access to any others at this time).
If we run the application natively on Windows, I'm told if the application runs on the Linux host and displays natively to that machine's display there are no problems (although I'm not able to verify this myself).The problems are:
1. Any new frame/dialog is opened in the geographic center of the dual displays, rather than in the middle of one or the other; 2. Any attempt to drag the window to a different location on the display seems to work, but as soon as you let go of the drag, the window snaps back to the original location. This only happens the first time you try to move each window. 3. Drop-down controls (JComboBox, for example) just close back up as soon as you click on them. If you click and drag the mouse to attempt to make a selection, no selection can be made.
Are these known problems using 1.6 on UNIX displaying to Windows-based X Servers?
The only real problem is number 3. I expect that if I put more work into the window placement, I should be able to get past number 1. Number 2 is just a minor annoyance.The following is a simple Java Swing application which when run in the correct environment will exhibit the problems.
I have been recently been working on a library to handle loading and saving settings in a Java application using annotations. Here is how the library is used currently:
package main; import dhuk.settings.main.SettingsManager; import dhuk.settings.main.SettingsTarget; public class Main{ public final String keybinds = "keybinds.txt", settings = "settings.txt"; // Constant strings to be used as the file's paths SettingsManager sm = SettingsManager.instance; // Singleton used to manage all of the settings files.

I have configured form based JAAS in my app. Basically, in web.xml I have declared security constraints on certain jsp page, declared specific roles, login and error pages. So, my login form is:
I am making a shopping cart app in JSP and servlets to bring it all together. Finally.
I have a registration servlet (c1), a registration form jsp (c2), a login jsp (c3). c1 checks if a username is in the database or not.
If the username is not there, then register the user and send them to c3. I want c3 to display a "registration successful" message if a user has just registered successfully and is coming from c1. ELSE, take the user back to c2 with a message which tells them to choose a different username or password etc.
How do I implement the logic of showing a message depending on where a user is coming from ? The servlets and jsps are ready and I only need to add this logic for a custom message. Of course, I could make a JSP for Registration Successful and one for Registration Failure. But, that seems to be unnecessary.
I am new to JSP !! and I'm developing a web-based chatting system using JSP and socket.
The problem I am facing is that the sender can send message but on the receiver side we have to manually refresh the page. The sender stays into blocking mode until the receiver refresh its page !
After that I've implemented auto-refresh on the receiver side and "Connection Refused" exception is generated.
I'm currently trying to build a DAO based application where you use a text file as a data source. It have worked out well until I tried to delete lines from the file.
I've managed to fill out the temp file with everything except the line I wanted to remove, but when I try to replace the original file with the temp file it won't work. It casts the error: "temp.txt -> databilar.txt".
I've also tried to use the renameTo method without any success...
I'm currently meddling with javaScript in order to implement a fingerPrinting system in my web application. I've developed the following example in which I can get all the necessarily data:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets">
The function faz() is called and only the first "alert" popup is called, the second one which should show what is returned by dadosDaTela() isn't generated, why is that?
a new java executable file which does heavy processing (batch). Development hasn't really started yet and the design phase is just beginning. Now the client is asking us to give them the minimum server specs to be able to run our application..I'm thinking this can't be done without performance testing, which will be after development. Is there a better and faster way to be able to assess this?
Any example of client/server socket based application using Spring and Maven where application do the following
Client sends a request with a path to any file on the server „h Server reads the file and responds back with the content „h Client outputs the content to the console
for a project im doing i need to create a java app with an embedded database so that the datbase is part of the application instead of run on a server that the app talks to.
the problem im having is finding the documentation for this, ive found the following 2 tutorials that almost do what i need:
NetBeans Platform CRUD Application Tutorial Working with the Java DB (Derby) Database.
how i can accomplish embedding a database into a java app.
* A pop-up menu generates an array of rectangle objects; each rectangle having random x.y coords and colour. * The number of rectangles in the array is user selected from the popup list. * The APopUp class has a 'getter' method that returns the array. * The pop-up object is instantiated in an object of the AFrame class. * The AFrame object needs to get the array each time the popup changes its state.
The problem: . * As I see it, the AFrame object needs to informed of the pop-up's state of change event or does the problem lie in how I have decided which responsibilities each class is to have? I've tried to be as logical as possible during planning.
In the days of FORTRAN or BASIC we would hammer a solution through with brute force, but I would like to keep to Java's philosophy of encapsulation and clean interfaces and that it seems to has generated a impasse of brain warping proportions.
import java.awt.Frame; import java.awt.Label; import java.awt.event.ItemEvent; import java.awt.event.ItemListener; public class AFrame extends Frame implements ItemListener {
I need that when my application is minimized notify you when something happens, like the messenger (MSN) remember? The window notifying a new message, the minimized window blink in orange, orange need not be ok? I do not even know where to start.
convert or move standalone java thread application into Tomcat server container for accessing its JNDI services? Also is it possible to schedule this thread application in Tomcat server? is it possible to keep this app in tomcat as web application and schedule in window's scheduler.
class A { List<StringBuilder> list; public void output(List<StringBuilder> objectToOutput){ try(BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("temp.txt"))){ for(StringBuilder row:objectToOutput) bw.write(row.toString()); }catch(IOException e){}
[code]....
Why don't the a's show up on the console? I put them in as part of the debugging process and now I don't understand why they don't show up in both places.
I'm making a stock system for the heck of it,so everything was going great until I hit the loop I am trying to use a for loop to add stock to the stock system,any way the question is maily about loops.How come I cannot declare a variable outside a loop and assign a value to it,for example I can declare as follows and I will not get an error,
but in my code(and yes its the only error I get I tested it) I get an error and can only declare and assign a value inside the loop,the reason for this is because I wanted to get the value from another class and use it in the loop ok so heres the code from both classes.
public class mainn{
public static void main(String [] args){ stock first = new stock(); int internal; internal = first.wanted;
I just want to calculate search time for my algorithm . How to get system time in java other than System.nanotime() and System.currenttimemillis() as these methods does not returns consistent time for same input is their another option to get system time???
I got a requirement like to get Desktop Notifications using JEE ( In a web based application).For example, if someone logs into skype then it will show at the end (below part of the screen where system displays time)Is that possible to show popup on desktop through the webapplications? I'm using Tomcat (Web server ) for my web based applications.
I've researched for it and came to know about the JNLP (Java network layer protocal) file which is deployed into client system.JNLP is displaying a desktop notification but I'm not sure how far this can be useful.Is there any API to make it possible?
