System.out.println();
System.out.print("What is the posted speed limit? --> ");

System.out.print("How fast was the car travelling in mph? --> ");
int trueSpeed = Expo.enterString();

I tried everything and there's supposedly one error saying it reached the end of the file while parsing. I'm trying to make a speeding ticket program for my class.
I have to write a program that asks the user to enter "air", "water", or "steel", and the distance that a sound wave will travel in the medium. The program should then display the amount of time it will take. The amount of time it takes sound to travel in air can be calculated as follows;
Time = Distance/1,100
The amount of time it takes sound to travel in water can be calculated with the following formula:
Time=Distance/4,900
The amount of time it takes sound to travel in steel can be calculated with the following formula:
Time=Distance/16400
Here is my code:
import java.lang.String; /** This program displays numbers padded with leading zeros. */
public class SpeedofSound { public static void main(String[] args) { double D; // declares this as double D = keyboard.nextDouble(); const double A = 1100; // declares this as a constant
[Code] .....
The following is the error I'm getting:
----jGRASP exec: javac SpeedofSound.Java error: Class names, 'SpeedofSound.Java', are only accepted if annotation processing is explicitly requested 1 error ----jGRASP wedge2: exit code for process is 1. ----jGRASP: operation complete.
The manager of a football stadium wants you to write a program that calculates the total ticket sales after each game. There are four types of tickets: box, sideline, premium, and general admission. After each game, the data is stored in a file in the following format:
ticketPrice numberOfTicketsSold
Sample data might look like:
250 5750
100 28000
50 35750
25 18750
The first line indicates that the box ticket price is $250 and that 5750 tickets were sold at that price.
Your program should input in this data (using Scanner or an input dialog box), then output that data to a message dialog box along with total ticket sales information. Output the total number of tickets sold and the total sale amount. Make your output user-friendly and "pretty". Format your output with two decimal places. Use JOptionPane and the formatting techniques learned in chapter 3 for your output. Example output might be:
5750 Box Tickets sold at $250.00 28000 Sideline Tickets sold at $100.00 35750 Premium Tickets sold at $50.00 18750 General Admission tickets sold at $25.00
I am doing a pretty basic program with a fixed origin city and five destination cities. I am having trouble with entering passenger details. This is what I tried, but then I cannot retain all passenger details to print later on in the final ticket.
System.out.println("Enter flight details of child passengers (below 12 years)"); System.out.println("Enter Name"); for(a = 1; a <= cp; ++a) { //cp is number of child passengers, a is loop variable String name = br.readLine(); System.out.println("1. " + name); }
String must be 6 characters, first 3 must be letters, last 3 must be digits..Here is my code:
import java.util.Scanner; public class ValidTicket { public static void main (String[] args){ Scanner in = new Scanner (System.in); String id; int c=' ',i; int letterCount=0, digitCount=0; System.out.printf("Enter ticked id
[code]....
However when I run my program, it does not work:After I enter the string nothing happens.
So i'm using Netbeans and have created this template for the program i want to create. Basically what I want to do is enter a time and date in 24hr format including seconds and the date of start and end time and have the program calculate the time difference between Tool launch and tool Receive that takes into factor the Launch and Receive Dates for a total of hh:mm:ss duration. I don't know how to combine both those factors output one number in a total number of hours Duration. I'm also having problems linking the ODO (odometer) which the formula would basically be time/ODO (or distance in feet) = x.x ft/sec format.

Is there a way to measure current download speed of a file being downloaded? I've searched all over google and the only thing i get is average download speed. This is basically how it is being done, the result is average download speed.
Java Code:
OutputStream out = null; URLConnection conn; InputStream in = null; long startup = System.currentTimeMillis(); try { URL url = new URL(adress); out = new BufferedOutputStream(
I was making a pong game, part copied code off the internet, part my own code, part my friends code. It works well enough, but the ball starts at one speed, and stays the same. I would like to know how to make the ball slowly increase.
It is a java applet, which shouldn't casue any harm right?
My code:
Pong Applet
import java.applet.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; public class Pong extends Applet implements MouseMotionListener, KeyListener {
if I move object A to one area of the screen I want object B to to move to object A's location but I also want object B to move at a fixed speed (movement variable). How do I go about doing this? Both the x and y coordinates of object B would need to know the coordinates of object A to calculate the distance between the two and to determine how much of which axis to increment/decrement (if that makes sense?) with the inclusion of the speed variable.In other words I'm just trying to create a homing object.
I wrote a code from our text book for Pong. Im trying to figure out how to fill the ball with color. Im also wondering how to speed the ball up once there is contact with the paddle. The initial speed is ok but once contact is made with the paddle, it slows down. Makes it too easy to play. Here is my code so far. As far as the game goes, it works and is good. Just wanted to add a couple customizations.
I am having trouble creating the for loop in the Parking Simulator. I dont even know where to start. I have searched google and I havent found any Parking simulators that used array lists. Here are the requirements:
The ParkingSimulator Class: This class should simulate checking the parking tickets. You should loop through the cars, choose a random officer, and have that officer check to see if there is a parking violation. If there is a violation, add it to the ParkingTicket ArrayList. After all have been checked, print out a summary of the tickets (using the toString() from the ParkingTicket class).
I think I have all the classes right except for the ParkingTicket Class which I know is screwed up in the for loop because I cannot get the random officer and create and report ticket if mins were over maxlimit and it is printing the whole string of officers when it should be picking one officer at random to assign to the ticket. Also it is not printing out the whole output.
output should look like:
VW with license # N34234 parked for 60 minutes at PM1 and a maximum time limit of 90 minutes - no violation. Reported by officer Joe badge: PO123
Mazda with license # 234-567 parked for 70 minutes at PM2 and a maximum time limit of 60 minutes was parked illegally for 10 minutes for a fine of 25.0. Reported by officer Sam badge: PO812
etc;
Summary of tickets: License:234-567 at meter #:PM2: Fine: $25.00 License:W879HY4 at meter #:PM4: Fine: $25.00 License:BG65RF7 at meter #:PM5: Fine: $25.00
I am trying to create a method for my "ticketmachine" object that counts ticket objects in an arraylist of "ticket" objects with a specified field "route". The method works if i change the field type of the ticket class to public, however according to the homework task "route" of the ticket class needs to remain a private field.
Here is my code for the method.
public int countTickets(String route) //HAD TO CHANGE Ticket class FIELD "ROUTE" TO PUBLIC!!!! { int index = 0; //returns the number of Ticket objects in the machine with the specified "route". int ticketCounter = 0; while (index < tickets.size())
[Code] ....
Is my general approach to the problem wrong? also is there a way to access a private field?
Write a program that will calculate the cost of a ticket order and display the receipt for the customer on the screen. There are 2 ticket prices: adult, and senior citizen. Adult seats are $4.50 and senior citizen seats are $3.50. If more than 5 senior citizen tickets are purchased, the customer gets an extra 20% off the of the ticket order. If more than 10 regular seats are purchased, the customer gets an additional 10% off the cost of the order. A customer can only place an order for one type of ticket. Output the type of ticket purchased, the number of tickets purchased, the gross cost, the amount of the discount, and the final cost of the order.
I am having errors with incaompatible varriables comparing float with doubles.

In a project for school. I have a program that links several GUI's as a menu based program. What I am trying to accomplish is when one of the previous GUI's is closed that it doesn't terminate the entire program. There is a lot of classes in the entire project so I'd prefer not to paste all the code here, but if it is necessary I will do so.
I'm creating a program that will compile and run another java program:Lets say I have a program in directory
D:HelloWorldsrc and compiled program will be in D:HelloWorldin inside src and bin is a folder hello (that's a package)
package hello; public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Hello World"); System.out.println("Hello World"); } }
This program will be run by another program (that's the program that I am creating).Here is the code of my program:
package runnercompiler; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.InputStream; import java.util.logging.Level; import java.util.logging.Logger; public final class RunnerCompiler {
I'm working in a GUI program, but I'm not going to put the code because there is a lot of code and files. Instead, I will try to put it an example.
Let say:
I'm working in a GUI program that ask form the user to enter two number's. When the user press at the calculate button. It will show up the output. However, the program won't exit unless the user press at red (X).
int x = user_Input1; int y = user_Input2; int total = x + y; // JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, total);
I know that there will be a (total) now, so my question is here how can I reset all the calculation and have a new total that will show up when the user enter two number's again.
I have searched the internet for about 2 days and now i'm posting this. I'm trying to make a program that will let me enter "1" to show how many movies I have watched and press "2" for a new one. The problem I ran into is I enter 2 then when I enter 1 it said "you have watched 0 movies". I know what the problem is I just don't know how to retype it. here is the code.
package stuff; import java.util.*; public class thing {
I just finished a tutorial on youtube that covers the basic java, and now i want to try and make a game / program thing, only problem is that i have never worked with graphics before (i have tried to make ovals, rectangles, and other things with the paint method tho )
I know how to make a jframe and a jpanel, and i feel like i can make a simple "game" (not a complicated one, just a simple one with a guy walking around on the screen) in fact i have already make a such game, where you are a oval walking around on the screen, so thats not really my problem.
My problem is that i want to draw an image on the screen that can walk around instead of the oval, but how to do that. I have made a new project and set up the jframe and jpanel, and my code looks like this:
(main)
import javax.swing.JFrame; public class main_class { public static void main(String[] args){ JFrame f = new JFrame(); f.setTitle("title"); f.setVisible(true); f.setSize(800,600);
[code]...
but once again, i get a blank jframe with no image and no "test" string . How i can display images on the screen?
