View RepliesI have 2 tables on 1 database
Table A, Table B
I need to evaluate a query by joining these 2 tables and then update the results in the 3rd table in another database. I need to use stateless session bean using JPA I believe. I need 3 Entities for each of the tables here.
My goal is to make a working spell check program.I have made some progress, but the more I test, the more issues I get and I continue to edit the algorithm.
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
public class SpellCheckTestClass{
public static void main(String [] args) throws IOException{
ArrayList<String> englishwords = new ArrayList<String>();
ArrayList<String> suggestions = new ArrayList<String>();
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
String entry = in.next();

I created my own class and it basically randomizes the amount of 'spells' [magic] a user uses (range 1-5). I can't figure out how to increment the initial randomized output to make something like this :
User X : uses 2 spell.
User Y : uses 3 spells.
User X : uses 3 spells. (Taking the randomized 2 and increment by 1)
User Y : uses 4 spells. (Taking the randomized 3 and increment by 1)
My current setup looks like this : First one is the class I created and the second one is just how the output would look like. (seperate by +++++...)
My goal is to create a METHOD to increment it.
public class Spell {
// Max number of spells
private final int MAX_FACE_VALUE = 5;
// Current face value
private int faceValue;
// New instance of Spell
public Spell() {
faceValue = 1;
[Code] ....
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
public class SpellOutput {
public static void main(String[] args) {
//Object creation
Spell spellCasterOne = new Spell();
Spell spellCasterTwo = new Spell();
Spell spellCasterThree = new Spell();

We started learning about tables and have a little program. The teacher gave us an excercise and doesn't works (not running), I receive too many errors. So any simple java program with tables with 20 numbers, that is giving random numbers?

I am creating a portal using JSP and MySQL with eclipse IDE. I have a scenario where data is stored on draft table and is retrieved then stored on another table. I need the entry in the draft table to be deleted after the insertion. When I tried to run the code it redirects to success page but makes no impact on database(neither inserts not gets deleted).

View Replies View RelatedUse Java to write and run a simple console-window program for checking passwords. The program must satisfy the following requirements:
-When the program runs, it should first print its name, e.g., Password Checker
-The program should next prompt the user to enter a username, e.g.,
Please enter your username:
-The program should next prompt the user to enter a password, e.g., Please enter your password:
- If the user enters a correct password, i.e., one that matches an internal secret password, the program responds. You are approved by access control!, and quits.
-If the user enters an incorrect password, the program responds
Try again:
-If the user enters a correct password matching the secret one, the program responds. You are approved by access control!, and quits.
-If the user enters an incorrect password, the program responds

I am writing a class which formats console output as a table. It displays the type of an entry, the name of an entry, and the data for an entry. I am stuck on a required for loop which appends a tab character to a string, for formatting it as a table. It doesn't seem to be adding any of the tabs and I can't tell what I've done wrong. As far as I can tell the contents of the loop are never reached, and I can't make sense of it.

I am trying to create a class (DVD) with an instance variable that references a map, the constructor for this class must create an empty map and assign it to the instance variable map. I've been using a Java applet for sports tables.It has been very useful for me. However, the recent developments from the people at Oracle have made this program impossible to use. The point is that I need this program and I need it fast.I've been in touch with the person who once created this applet and he has no intentions at all to upgrade it or do anything to make it function. How to make the program works with their new updates.

I am trying to retrieve data from my database by joining my tables. So far i have managed to join my four tables in my database and retrieve all the information in that table. Now what i want to do is create a prepared statement in java that allows me to retreive certain data. Here is my joining query.
SELECT student.idNumber,student.names, student.surname,
course.description,
coursemarks.mark,
class.form,class.id
FROM `student`
LEFT JOIN `coursemarks` on student.idNumber = coursemarks.studentid
LEFT JOIN `course` on course.courseid = coursemarks.courseid
LEFT JOIN `class`on student.idNumber = class.studentID;
What I want is to select all the data depending on the class passed and the form passed, e.g a person might decide to select a certain form only or a certain form and class

I'm trying to make a checkers game in Java and I managed to make my grid with it's button on it. Each button which has a pawn on it has it's own actionListener which was all done in the loop as I made the grid as shown in my code below. Now I have a huge problem. I don't know how to handle the move, check if move is legal, jump and double jump. Here is the code I wrote so far. I wrote it in such a way that all the buttons which have a pawn on them can perform the same action but then I'm completely stuck.

what is mean by hash code??
View Replies View RelatedI want to generate a Hash key for a [ Nested Hierarchical nodes]. Any lightweight non-cryptographic hash map functions which generate a key, so that I can use this hashkey to comparison purposes.
NOTE: Security is not a concern for me, I just want to create a Unique ID.
LinkedHashSet=Linked + Hash +Set
In linkedHashSet are the elements stored according to the insertion order or according to the hash value. If the elements are stored according to the insertion order then why is it not named as LinkedSet instead of LinkedHashSet? Why is the word hash used in LinkedHashSet?
I am trying to add two strings to a hash map. the first being the key, a 3 digit code that can have duplicates, and the value to store in an ArrayList. From what I've read, when add a key to the hashmap that is a duplicate, the previous gets overwritten and that is why I am trying to put the values in an array list. I was hoping that when the key is looked up, it would print all the values associated with that key:
class library{
HashMap<String, ArrayList<String>> checkoutBooks =
new HashMap<String, ArrayList<String>>() ;
ArrayList<String> patName = new ArrayList<String>() ;
public void checkoutBook(String isbn, String patron) {
patName.add(patron) ;

So when I try to add values such as:
library.checkoutBook("000", "test 1");
library.checkoutBook("000", "test 2");
library.checkoutBook("001", "test 3");
library.checkoutBook("001", "test 4");
library.checkoutBook("002", "test 5");
library.checkoutBook("002", "test 6");

Iv created an array list which contains people and attributes such as user id, username etc. It works fine for the most part. It allows the user to enter a name into the system. If the name entered matches a name stored in the array list then it will display that user, its id, name and password. I need to implement a password strength checker; but i am struggling.
First off; i need a method that will determine how strong a password is. I then need to find a means of how to output the result of this, outputting it alongside the other outputted attributes: id, name and password.
Here is what i have attempted so far, but to be honest its probably completely different to the exact strength check and way that i want the result to be displayed. I know that the code below is a good start, but its not close to implementing the code in a way that the password strength result can be outputted in the arraylist after a search for a user and their password is made.
private int checkPasswordStrength2(String passw)
{
int strengthCount=0;
String[] partialRegexChecks = { ".*[a-z]+.*", // lower
".*[A-Z]+.*", // upper
".*[d]+.*", // digits
".*[@#$%]+.*" // symbols
};
if (passw.matches(partialRegexChecks[0])) {
[Code] .....
I just really want to get this done. Iv looked for solutions online; but they implement a password strength checker much differently to how mine needs to work from what i can tell.
I am implementing the hash join algorithm for a project with a hard coded hash function. I've hashed the first relation and I've hashed the second relation. The problem is when hashing the second relation I only know how to add the tuple from the second relation into a third relation and not also access the first relation tuple at that time
The "hashtable" structure contains the hashcode of my key as well as the tuple stored in a string. This code below is taking place in the hashing of the second table, my function determines that both these tuples share the same hash code based on the first element in the tuple (element 0) so I add the tuple from my second relation to the qRelation but I also want to add the tuple from the hashtable at that point and I don't know how to access that string
if(hashtable.containsKey(tuple/*(RELATIONA)*/.get(0).hashCode()))
{
//Add the tuple from relation A into qRelation wich matches the
//above condition
qRelation.addAll(tuple/*(RELATIONB)*/);
}
I need a Example of a Hash Mapping Algorithm in Java. This Mapping Needs to do the following:
Map an Array of Strings, to integer values which correspond to each fruit
private String[] Fruit = {"Apple","Orange","Pear","Grapes"};
Apple: 1 + 1
---------------
Orange: 1+ 2
---------------
Pear: 1 + 3
---------------
Grapes: 1 + 4
---------------

I have to write a resize method so that when my Bucket gets to a certain point, then it resizes the bucket when it is called. What is happening is, I am getting strange results when I run the method. My mean bucket length should be at 2.5 for the last insertion, but I am getting something like 0.1346. Here is my dictionary class
// The "Dictionary" class.
// The Dictionary class implemented using hashing. Hash buckets are used. A dictionary contains a set of data elements with corresponding keys. Each element is inserted into the dictionary with a key. Later the key can be used to look up the element. Using the key, an element can be changed or it can be deleted from the dictionary. There is also an operation for checking to see if the dictionary is empty.
