Mar 26, 2015I am developing an app with a Java Servlet backend, and I am trying to get the Async call (AsyncTask - Android Developers) to get my response message Synced with the rest of the client and being able use this information wherever I want. Without a callback method, when from the caller class I use the commands:
ServletPostAsyncTask s = new ServletPostAsyncTask();
s.execute(new Pair<Context, String>(ListViewPrenota.this, "tours"));
Tours ttours = s.tours;
Tour tour = ttours.getTours().get(0);
I receive a NullPointerException pointing to the third line Tours ttours = s.tours;, since the s.execute() method doesn't wait for the rest of the lines to get executed.To solve this I thought about implementing a callback method with interfaces in Java, but I am not sure on how to do it. For example, what class does have to implement the interface, the ServletPostAsyncTask or the caller class?
How To Setup Sonar For C# Code Analysis
Jul 20, 2014I am new to Java. I am from .net background.I am trying to setup Sonar server. In one of our training sessions on Sonar, the instructor did the anaysis of solution using pom.xml file and then calling mvn sonar:sonar. I am trying to replicate the entire setup locally.
1. I installed JRE 7. When I run , java -version, it shows,
java version "1.7.0"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-b147)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 21.0-b17, mixed mode)
2. I download sonar 3.5 and extracted it to new folder
3. In that folder I installed sonar-runner 2.4
3. setup the path and sonar_runner environment variable
4. downloaded jtds-1.3.1 and placed the jar file in mssql folder of sonar
5. I create database sonar with username and password as sonar
6. changed sonar-runner.properties for sql server connection
7. changed sonar.properties for sql server connection
8. Ran Sonar.bat and found that it created tables in the sql server db. To me the command prompt seems like it is hanging as after creating table graphs, the last line is

Is it supposed to stay like this always or should i closed this command prompt by pressing CTRL+C?
9. Now when i run mvn-sonar:sonar, it says mvn is not recrognizes as internal or external command. A quick search on google showed that I need to install Apache maven something I belive. What is this or how do I solve this issue so that the command mvn sonar:sonar can work?
10. I would like to use c sharp ecosystem plugin. But when I browse to C# Plugin - SonarQube - Codehaus , I am confused as what to select? i.e. version 3.2, 3.1, 3.0
11. So if I do a system restart and everytime I have to use sonar, should i run sonar.bat and then do mvn sonar:sonar after modifying the pom.xml file?
Rainfall Analysis For The Number Of Days According To User Input
Feb 24, 2015I am assigned with a project that will as the user for the amount of days they would like data entered, then loop asking them for these numbers. once it reaches the entered amount of days it will display a menu for which the user can enter the number they want on the list and it will display the data. the menu has 6 items. Total, Average, Determine if its a Drought, Flood or normal rainfall, highest of data entered, lowest of data entered, and 6 is to quit the program.
So far i have total and average working properly. Still looking at how to display drought, flood, and normal.
Main problems, i cannot get highest and lowest to display correct data.
Also when entering 6, or an invalid menu choice, neither "goodbye" or "invalid choice, choose again" gets printed. Rather the loop for entering data continues.

also i noticed that it does not say the correct day when displaying the lowest and highest rainfall. this is because i put count, i did not know what else to put in order to get the correct day.

Can Static Method Return Instances Of Same Class In Special Case Where Everything Is Static?
Jun 27, 2014From what i understand static methods should be called without creating an instance of the same class . If so why would they return an instance of the same class like in the following : public static Location locateLargest(double[][] a) , the Location class being the same class where the method is defined . I don't understand this , does it mean that every field and every method in the class must be static ? Meaning that you cannot have instances of the class because everything is static . Or it's just a mistake and the class Location cannot have a static method: public static Location locateLargest(double[][] a) ?

Mar 3, 2015I am trying to add a field (called special) to a hibernate table. I am copying existing code (related to the NAME field) so I don't have to figure this out from scratch. I am getting the error

Line 213 is in public void mergeFrom, the actual line is "special = VoxFlowConfiguration.special;" I don't understand why Java thinks special is a "non-static" variable but it doesn't have a problem with the other variables (such as name, orderShow)

Non-Static Method Cannot Be Called From Static Context Errors
Jul 27, 2014I'm working on a banking program that is supposed to use 3 classes (Account-base class, CheckingAccount, and SavingsAccount) and several methods to display the banking information (ID, balance after a withdrawal and deposit, and the annual interest rate). This should be a pretty simple program, but I'm getting hung up on one portion of it. I'm getting some compiler errors, all of which deal with non-static variables being called from a static context (I'll also post these errors following the code). Up until the middle of last week, we just declared everything as static, but that's changed and I'm having trouble figuring out when to and when not to use static when declaring my methods, hence the compiler errors.

How To Have Static Or Non-static Method Reference As Parameter
Nov 18, 2014I had a TestColor class which contained methods to change hue, saturation, brightness, red, green, blue of TestColor's instances but also had static methods which take in an additional parameter for an instance of TestColor and returns the affected instance of TestColor. Now instead of having one method for every possible color effect to be applied to an image, how can I have one method that takes in an Image parameter, a static or non-static method reference from TestColor parameter and lastly an intensnity value parameter. This is so that I can make an affectedImage object instance inside the method and a Graphics2D object for drawing to each pixel of the new image, now I have one for loop and one nested for loop for the x and y pixels of width and height of the old image and inside the nested for loop I'd create a TestColor by calling getRGB on the image's pixel. Then I would apply the static or non-static method reference somehow to change the color with the intensnity value and after applying it draw to the new Image with Graphics2D. How to would I parametize a method reference and be able to use it in such way?

2) Make a nested class non-static if each instance of its enclosing class must have only one instance of its nested class, for example, an AbstractButton has a non-static AbstractButton.Handler nested class because each AbstractButton instance must have only one AbstractButton.Handler instance.
