Store Data From A File Into Array Of Type Product?
Mar 17, 2015
public class InputFileData {
/**
* @param inputFile a file giving the data for an electronic
* equipment supplier’s product range
* @return an array of product details
* @throws IOException
*/
public static Product [] readProductDataFile(File inputFile)
throws IOException{
// YOUR CODE HERE
}
This code is meant to be used to read a text file and store the data in an array of type Product[]. I know how to read in a text file and have it sort it into an array, but I've never seen code laid out in this fashion before (specifically "public static Product[]", and I'm unsure how to work with "(File inputfile)". I've looked all over the place but can't find any examples of anything like this.
Also, the code given cannot be changed, as it's that code I have to work with.
I still don't understand how to use it as a whole. For example, do I read the file in the main and have this method read that in and output to the Product class? Do I read the file in this method? I can't work out how to make this work when I have to use this method.
We have an application running successfully where we fetch the weight of product currently on Production Line using Java.
All the products on line belong to same order and are of same type. User at beginning enter the type of product and starts the production line.
Proposed new process: Now client want that multiple type of product can belong to same production order. i.e. on a production line different type of products can come one after other. So we should now fetch the type of product also.
The Question : what are different possibilities in which we can find the type of product. Can java fetch color of a box ? If we use scanner on line that scans the product and sends the color information to Java.
Above is just a possibility. Can there be any other parameters that Java can use to differentiate in type of product ?
Currently we are clueless. What ever are the possibilities in Java we can propose the same to client. Even if that requires additional hardware.
I have a file called statecapitals.txt that is read in, I want to store it in either a 2d array or hashmap and select a random state then Ask the user for the name of the capital. Then I want to Let them know if they are correct or not and have a choice to play as many times as they like. When they no longer want to play,I want to let them know how many they got correct and how many incorrect. I am not sure which would be better a hash map or 2d array and dont know where to start with each.
here is what the text file looks like:
Alabama - Montgomery Alaska - Juneau Arizona - Phoenix Arkansas - Little Rock California - Sacramento Colorado - Denver
So I am trying to open a file and store the contents into a two dimensional array. I seem to have no problem using this same basic code to read the file and output it. But when I try to change it so that all the data is stored into the array, it does not work.
Java Code:
public void convertFile() { String filePath = ("C:UsersBradDownloadsFB1.csv"); String [][] rowCol = new String [429][6]; try { BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(filePath)); StringTokenizer st = null; System.out.println("Your file is being converted to an array. This may take several minutes.");
My problem is that in my program, I have the user input data for one of three product objects, however when I read the data for all three objects, the same data is stored in all of them.
Anyway this is the method from the Interface class:
private void readInput() // the only method in the program that accepts product data from the user { Store matesStore = new Store(); String name; int demandRate, productChoice; double setupCost, unitCost, inventoryCost, sellingPrice; Scanner console = new Scanner(System.in);
[Code] ....
And here is the method from the Store class:
public static void addData(int option, String newName, int newDemand, double newSetup, double newUnit, double newInventory, double newPrice) //sets the product data for a particular product { if (option==1) setData(product1, newName, newDemand, newSetup, newUnit, newInventory, newPrice); else if (option==2) setData(product2, newName, newDemand, newSetup, newUnit, newInventory, newPrice); else /*(option==3)*/ setData(product3, newName, newDemand, newSetup, newUnit, newInventory, newPrice);
[Code] ....
The problem I had was with static variables and methods.
The point of this program is to read characters from a txt file and store them into a 2D array. After this has been accomplished, the information is to be printed in the same manner it is read from in the txt file.
Here is the code I have so far:
import java.io.File; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.util.Scanner; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) throws FileNotFoundException
[Code] ....
And this is the error I am receiving when trying to accomplish the goal of the project:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "############" at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(Unk nown Source) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Unknown Source) at Maze.<init>(Maze.java:15) at Main.main(Main.java:20)
What's going on here and how I can correct this?? The information I am trying to store in a 2D array and then print is this:
The main method will drive your program by doing the following:
-Create an array to hold all the individual golfers and par scores (type is Golfer[ ]). -Prompt the user for a data file containing the Par scores and the player names and score. The format of the input file should look like
If I specify the directory in file type or path string type how can I get a list of files that are file type .yml in that folder, so I can loop through and do something with each single file.yml in that specified directory.
New to programming. Am supposed to create a program that reads a text file (of integers) and computes a series of computations on these integers. I don't have the code for the integers in my code yet, (i know how to do those), but am struggling getting the array to simply print in the print writer. I have the user select a text file, read the file with a scanner, and then save the computations done from my code into another file. specifically, the problem is as follows: Write a program that uses a file chooser dialog to select a file containing some integers. The file contains an integer N followed by N integers. The program then uses a file chooser dialog to let the user specify the name and location of an output file to write results to.The data written to the output file will be as follows
(1) The original list of N numbers from the input file, (2) The original list of N numbers printed in reverse order of how they appear in the input file. (3) The sum and average of these numbers, (4) The minimum of all the numbers, (5) The maximum of all the numbers.
I am new to Java programming and how to store data in Java.....Here is a example:Unique number, description, qty in box, price...There are thousands of these in my list. What would be the best way to store them.
I can read the data to a monitor perfectly. But, I'm having problem reading data from an external file into an array of class objects. Here's my attempt at writing the method:
private void openFile() //This method asks the user to enter a file name(including the file extension) and then //Sets the data to an array of Product type { String fileName, storeName="", emptyLine1="", emptyLine2="", name="", productName=""; int demandRate=0; double setupCost=0.0, unitCost=0.0, inventoryCost=0, sellingPrice=0; Scanner inputStream = null;
So I need to generate 10 random integers in the range 1-20 but i have to store them in an array called numbers. Then I have to call a method called displayArray which displays the contents of the array and for the assignment i have to use a for loop to traverse the array. The method header for the displayArray method is:
public static void displayArray(int[] array)
This is what I have done
public class RandomIntegers { static int numbers = 0; public static void displayArray(int[] array) { System.out.println(numbers + "Numbers Generated");
query ="Select major_career.Major_Title, career.ISCOTitle,career.FS.... " //only partial, // I swear the query is correct resultSet = statement.executeQuery(query); //this executes it relArr = new ArrayList<String>(); //don't worry it is intialized
In the code below I tried to store the resultset components into the arraylist
int j = 1; while (resultSet.next()) { while(j<=numberOfColumns){ relArr.add(resultSet.getObject(j).toString()); j++; } } // end while
I am not sure whether the arraylist is able to store the result set because when i try to display it like show below it only shows some rows and only the first column
Iterator it = relArr.iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { System.out.println(it.next());
I want to manipulate the resultset results in my program by copying the resultset values to other datastructures.
I am making a program to read data from excel files and store them in tables by their IDs. I have managed to read all the data from excel files as a string and store them in a table. But my project is to store them in table by ascending IDs. I have created the comparator in another class but when i call it in the main class nothing happened. The data that I have to store is like the below:
ID Name Salary 50 christine 2349000 43 paulina 1245874 54 laura 4587894 23 efi 3456457 43 jim 4512878
I'm trying to figure out the necessary code for reading integers from a text file, then placing them withing the two-dimensional array I have created, and then finally printing the array using a nested for-loop. I have attached the file I would like to read from. I'm having trouble figuring out how to reference the text file with the integers, and also how to properly create a dynamic preface for each row of the array. I want the preface to display as "Week #: ", with # being the row number. I tried to create an integer to be used that way, but NetBeans tells me whatever integer I declare has already been defined in method main. I know I need to use scanner to read the file. I would like the output to display like this:
I'm trying to parse and compare the content of a zip file. However I'm stuck at what SHOULD be a very simple problem, however I can't seem to find a solution. I have done the following:
ZipInputStream zin1 = new ZipInputStream(fin); ZipEntry ze1 = null; fin2 = new FileInputStream(fileName2); ZipInputStream zin2 = new ZipInputStream(fin2); ZipEntry ze2 = null; //fin.close(); ze1 = zin1.getNextEntry(); ze2 = zin2.getNextEntry();
Which gives me the first entry of each zipfile as a ZipEntry type object. I have tried getting the path of the file (inside the zip file) and using this to create a File type object. This does not seem to work though I get:
Exception in thread "main" java.io.FileNotFoundException: My DocumentsmetadatacoreProperties.xml (The system cannot find the file specified) at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileReader.<init>(Unknown Source)
And this is because I get a null return from trying to create the File file1 = new File(correctLocation);
I guess I cannot access the file inside a zip file this way. So my question is how can I make a ZipEntry type object into a File type object?
I am able to perform column operation but not able to perform row operation because i am not able to store data say a 2 matrix [][]. I need to store the data into a 2-D matrix. Here is my code:
Java Code:
import java.awt.List; import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.FileReader; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Scanner; public class colRowRead {
I am learning about arrays in my class and my professor has a habit of throwing in code without explaining. We are doing a program called storing largest numbers where we read data from a file and place the larger of the two numbers in the corresponding position of a third array. They are in 4 by 4 format. Here is the ending code
import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class prog464aStoringLargestNums { public static void main(String[] args)
i am newbie to servlet and m working on a project like online shopping. I have list of data items in my database and i am able to fetch and display the data from database but i want to know that how can i store these data items in ServletContext so that i can use use it frequently in other pages.
I am trying to develop a new web application which takes in data from a form and stores data in a database.I have included all the three files join.jsp(the form which takes in data),reg.java(servlet) and JavaConncetDb(method which connects db and servlet). I get a 404 error when i try load the web application.
My file structure in eclipse
The error I am getting
