Any way to get my Java window to open with a certain width and height. I've been googling and haven't found to much valuable information. Here is what I have so far.
import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.event.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
public class JavaWindow{
//Bring up the frame.
private JFrame f = new JFrame("JavaWindow");
[Code] ....
When you compile that it runs a small window. I would like that window to be bigger when the file opens.
I want to make an application and must use strategy pattern my idea is to create a super class in this case Movie Player and three sub classer and they'll komminesera with each other using strattegy pattern, one of the sub classes is Button Panel and I want to add it to Movie Player and it was to be its child,so how can I add the butt panel to Movie Player and it shall be its children?
MoviePlayer:

import java.awt.Component;
import java.awt.FlowLayout;
import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
import javax.swing.JButton;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
import com.github.sarxos.webcam.WebcamPanel;

I keep hearing these two term when it comes to painting in Swing, however, I'm not sure which is which. To my understanding is that the child components are the ones that already exist on screen (could be a JButton, JFrame, or custom painting) . and the parent components are the one to be added/drawn next. (hence, if we override the paintChildren() method when painting, the components that were already on the screen don't appear any more).

View Replies View Relatedhow to open a GUI on top of another GUI? I have built a GUI and have a button that when pressed I want to open a new GUI which is another java application within the project, it seems pretty straight forward and I just need to insert 'new [name of application]()'
Button btnEdit = new Button(shell, SWT.NONE);
btnEdit.addSelectionListener(new SelectionAdapter() {
@Override
public void widgetSelected(SelectionEvent e) {
new edit();
}
});
btnEdit.setBounds(76, 10, 75, 25);
btnEdit.setText("Edit");
I'd like open a second GUI when I press a button that's on the first GUI, like a link in a website.
What I want to do is:
1- Open GUI_1;
2- Press a button on GUI_1; this button close GUI_1 and open another GUI (GUI_2).
How can I do it?
why this code, doesn't display the image?
import java.awt.Graphics;
import java.awt.event.WindowAdapter;
import java.awt.event.WindowEvent;
import java.awt.image.BufferedImage;
import java.io.File;
import java.io.IOException;

I have a practice exercise here wherein I will add a JOptionPane to a program. When the close button is clicked, the JOptionPane will appear asking the user to exit the program. If the user clicks "Yes," it'll, of course, close the entire program and not just the JOptionPane, but if the user clicks "No," it will return to the program. Please refer to my code below:
try
{
output = new DataOutputStream(new FileOutputStream("ProjSixExe4.dat"));
}
catch(IOException ex) {
this.dispatchEvent(new WindowEvent(this, WindowEvent.WINDOW_CLOSING))
}
final JOptionPane optionpane = new JOptionPane("Are you sure you want to quit
this program?", JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE, JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION);
this.setDefaultCloseOperation(WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
The exercise said it must be placed before the EXIT_ON_CLOSE portion.
I wish to display a progress bar during a lengthy file translation process. When I created a ProgressBar class to do this and tested it with a short test program, it seemed to work fine. But when I add my ProgressBar class to a package containing various other classes, put that package in a jar file, and then execute the class using the progress bar from a menu in my main program, the frame of the progress bar shows up with the appropriate caption but the JLabel, JProgressBar, and JButton are not displayed. I have gone over my code numerous times and checked that the ProgressBar class constructor is getting the proper arguments.
// package gov.nasa.jpl.ephemeris;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
/**
* Progress bar with message text above the bar and a Cancel button below it
*/
public class ProgressBar extends JFrame {
private boolean _cancelled = false;
private JProgressBar _progressBar = null;
[Code] ....
I have also been wondering whether I need a separate instance of the border for each panel, or whether I can just create one instance and use it for all three panels.
Is it possible to display an AWT Window only(just 'cause feel like doing it)? Or, is the simplest window possible to display a JFrame?
View Replies View RelatedThat's my third day working in Java using Swing and the IntelliJ Idea IDE.I'm trying to do something as simple as displaying a PNG in a window, and I'm doing this:
public class AboutRapide {
public JPanel mainPanel;
private void createUIComponents() {
mainPanel = new ImagePanel();
[cod]....
the problem is that, in the paintComponent method, the Image is never found when I run my app from the IDE, but it is when I run it from Finder in my Mac. Same application. I think it relates to how the application is launched so I guess what's a proper way to refer to a resource file with an image so it can be displayed no matter how the application is launched?Also if I generate a Jar for the application, as the resource gets into the Jar compressed file, it can't also be loaded.
I use the right term, release resources because after clicking the close button, the DOS prompts becomes unresponsive. So I have to close the DOS prompt, then reopen it, then type in the path again for the Java folders. Can you check where did I go wrong with my code? Is my placement of the WindowListener and WindowAdapter incorrect? Please refer to my code below:
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.io.*;
public class Proj6exe1 extends JFrame implements ActionListener
{
DataOutputStream dataLabas;
JTextField rainFallField;
JButton submit;
String strRainFall;
JPanel proj6Panel;
[code]...
I have other programs where the placement of the WindowListener and WindowAdapter are as exactly like this (within the class constructor block) where they close correctly and some that behave like this, that renders the DOS prompt unresponsive.
I have a JList<Object> in my code (it actually takes JLabels) called imageList, and I've given it a custom CellRenderer using the following code:
cellRenderer = new DefaultListCellRenderer() {
private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
@Override
public Component getListCellRendererComponent(JList<?> list,
Object value, int index, boolean isSelected,
boolean cellHasFocus) {
[Code] .....
However, when I click anywhere on the JList, nothing gets printed to the console, which suggests that the mousePressed() method isn't being invoked. I think it's a problem with the CellRenderer, because I have similar code elsewhere that works, the only difference being I don't use a custom CellRenderer.
Mouse wheel is working properly on macosx but not working on windows.
Here is my layout structure, i implemented mousewheel listener but its not triggering tho.
And my scrolledcomposite declaration:
final ScrolledComposite scrolledComposite = new ScrolledComposite(mainComposite, SWT.BORDER | SWT.H_SCROLL | SWT.V_SCROLL);
scrolledComposite.setExpandHorizontal(true);
scrolledComposite.setExpandVertical(true);
scrolledComposite.setBackground(SWTResourceManager.getColor(SWT.COLOR_MAGENTA));
final Composite listComposite = new Composite(scrolledComposite, SWT.NONE);
GridLayout layout = new GridLayout();

I want to develop an application, which shows a circular window with close, maximize buttons.

I am trying to create a gambling POS system and having problems with a method trying to get a value right after it was set. A jbutton sets another jframe visible which contains buttons. Upon action of the button, a value is set and the jframe is disposed.
private void btnPrizeActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
PrizeSelling prize = new PrizeSelling();
prize.setVisible(true);//create prize selection window
bin = getButton(); //gets what button is selected to load the correct prizes for correct game
prize.DBconnect(bin);//sends bin number to prize loading method
[Code] ....
As soon as btnPrize is clicked it gets the total value of the prizes selected which of course is 0 because it is ran before it is set. How can I make it wait until the window is closed before continuing?
I am very new to Java Swing. I have to create a TreeTable in Java Swing with a Parent Row having say 6 columns and its all child row having just 4 columns. like shown below
Parent row:
-Column1-+-Column2-+-Column3-+-Column4-+-Column5-+-Column6-+
Child row:
--CloumnC1--+--CloumnC2--+--CloumnC3--+--CloumnC4--+
Can this be achieved using JSwing ?Also, Can I be able to Change the Column Headers Correspondingly when user clicks on Parent row and Child rows?
I am trying to drag the window down wards and screen has alignment issues. I tried to use WindowListeners, Component Listeners, MouseListeners ect…
But still this problem persists as only I release the mouse after drag down it appears fine that we have handled ComponentResized() method. So how to restrict component size while keep dragging down?
We are creating a quiz as a school program, we are using netbeans and we have a little problem. The problem is that our JButton opens a new JFrame in a new window and we want it to stay in the same window. The code we are using is:
private void PlayButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEve nt evt) {
Question1 s = new Question1 ();
s.setVisible(true);
}
Is it possible to make it stay in the same window?
Will the code below just create a new blank window rather than call the one I have? I want to call the one I have from my main method ideally.
JMenuItem menuDelete = new JMenuItem("Delete");
menuDelete.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
DeleteEnvironmentWindow deleteEnv = new DeleteEnvironmentWindow();
deleteEnv.setVisible(true);
}
I need that when my application is minimized notify you when something happens, like the messenger (MSN) remember? The window notifying a new message, the minimized window blink in orange, orange need not be ok? I do not even know where to start.
View Replies View RelatedI have added a windowListener to my JFrame but for some reason it is not being called when I click X to close the window. I need to send a message to a server to notify it that the client window is closed. Some code snippets below (some lines excluded for brevity):
public class ChatGUI extends javax.swing.JFrame {
....
setDefaultCloseOperation(javax.swing.WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); // I have all the window constants here but has no effect other than closing the window without calling the listener...
addWindowListener(new java.awt.event.WindowAdapter() {
public void windowClosed(java.awt.event.WindowEvent evt) {
formWindowClosed(evt);
}
});
....
private void formWindowClosed(java.awt.event.WindowEvent evt) {
[code]....
This is resolved, needed to use...
addWindowListener(new java.awt.event.WindowAdapter() {
public void windowClosing(java.awt.event.WindowEvent evt) {
formWindowClosing(evt);
}
});
... instead.
I'm using a jpanel with an 8 by 8 grid layout of jlabels to which I'm adding images to represent a chess board. At first, I was using the ImageIcon class to initialize my icons, but as soon as I added these icons to the labels, the labels no longer changed size with the window (which I want to happen). URL...
So I copied in the class, and initialized a different set of icons using the stretch icon class (specifically, the method that allows you to initialize a stretch icon from a filename), however, when I use these stretch icons, the result is the same. Is something wrong with the class, or with my implimentation of it, and how would I fix this?
