View Replies View RelatedThis is what I need to create:This project focuses on demonstrating your understanding of GUI and event programming. Before attempting this project, be sure you have completed all of the reading assignments listed in the syllabus to date, participated in the weekly conferences, and thoroughly understand the examples throughout the chapters.
Enhance the form you created in homework 3 to add a JCombobox to select the user’s State of residence, and a group of JRadio buttons to indicate the user's gender. Once the user clicks on the JButton (created in homework 3) the application will display all of the user’s information in the JTextearea in a format similar to the following:
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Age Group:
State of Residence:
This is my code so far. I am having trouble with trying to select a state from my comboBox. My box prints out on the screen fine, but it will not allow me to select a state and print out a state. I was able to get the event listener to work for my radio buttons ok. But I am stuck on the comboBox.

I understand how vectors work I'm currently using one to store my id's from my txt file but how do you put them in a defaultComboBoxModel?
DefaultComboBoxModel defaultComboBoxModel = new DefaultComboBoxModel();
//declare a vector object that will hold a string (only thing that works with comboboxmodel
Vector<String> myVector=new Vector<String>();
//try statement
try{
FileReader fr = new FileReader(file);
[Code]...
Any example of how a vector is used with a defaultComboBoxModel so I can then use that to populate my JComboBox?
createConnection();
try{
String str = "select * from stocks";
stmt = conn.prepareStatement(str);
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery();

I have this code in my another package , i want to call it in other package , but i dunno how to do that.
I've got 2 view classes with their own viewcontroller. In view 1 i'v got a combo box with a observablelist wicht show me some values.
What i want is to put an new value to the combobox through the controller of view2.
When i make the observablelist static it works but i think that isn't a nice way.
If I have a comboBox full of id's - is it possible that when I choose said id (click it) it will then transfer over into my textField where I can use that as a prefix for my filename ...
(The file can be created just by having a name in the text field it doesn't need to already exists) ...
Is it possible to switch images (on jlabel)on combobox item select. I
If (combobox.selecteditem = value)
{
SetIcon (resource) // I'm using the default auto generated code used by eclipse when we set an icon for a jlabel in the gui
}
I have a ComboBox I'm using for a cellEditor. The list of items in the comboBox might have colors behind them, which I've managed to render. What I haven't figured out is a good way to keep the color in the cell after the item is selected.I don't' want to have a persistent comboBox in the cell, i only want to see it when editing that cell.
public TableCellEditor getCellEditor(int row, int col)
{
if (row==theRow && col==theCol)
{
JComboBox<?> combo = new JComboBox<Object>(getPickListEntries());
combo.setRenderer(new PickListRenderer(combo));
combo.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder());
}

I have a colour coded table, the JComboBox has items that are also colour coded to correspond to the colours on the table.
My ComboBox contains:
comboBoxSFMotor.addItem("Select a Value");
comboBoxSFMotor.addItem("Electric");
comboBoxSFMotor.addItem("DC Shunt");
comboBoxSFMotor.addItem("Combustion");
How can I set a background colour for each of the items in the JComboBox that will correspond to the table so that the user can make an easy selection?
An example of the table is attached

I just installed java on my computer because i was getting messages that it was no longer there. And I figured out how to solve my problems on my browsers. but i don't see how to enable java in my applications on the hard drive. in particular, i want to use the database in open office but don't see how to enable it.
View Replies View RelatedI created this code, seems like it should be working properly and the code is right, but the output is not what it should be.The action gets a List<Integer> and should make it reversed.
As example: 1 2 3 4 5 ---> 5 4 3 2 1
The Nodes in the new list (lst2) should be in a reversed position.The code does compile with no errors.I do have Node<T> and List<T> classes
Java Code:
public class NodeReverse
{
public static void reverse (List<Integer> lst, Node<Integer> node, int counter, List<Integer> lst2, Node<Integer> pos) // Should make lst = lst2 while lst2 is the opposite to lst
{
node = node.getNext();
counter++;
if(node.getNext()!=null)
reverse(lst, node, counter, lst2, pos);

I am creating a program called "Mad Math Machine". This program is to generate random arithmetic questions, with integers ranging from -12 to 12, for the user to answer. The user has three lives. Once they get more than three questions wrong, they run out of lives, and their "score" (the number of questions they answered correctly) is taken.
I have the large chunk of the program (the arithmetic questions and answers) completed. The only part I am stuck on is the scoring system. I believe that arrays would be useful for this task, but I have little idea of where to start. Here is what the scoring list should be able to do:
- It should print out the top ten recent players and their scores.
- A separate list should show the top-two highest scores of all time.
*I didn't think it was relevant, but I can include the program code. Up until this point, I have created methods to keep track of the score, but I have simply left them commented out so I could build the rest of the program.*
I wrote a program that asks the user to enter some information, does some calculations and tells them what they need to order. I know there is a way I just do not know how to do it. I would like the output from the program which is presented in text fields to be printed onto a form I made in excel when a button is pressed.

Having trouble adding leaves to my tree. Developing a stand alone Java app using mainly SWT and Eclipse JavaEE on Windows.The tree is like this:
root
------parentA
--------------childA1
--------------childA2
--------------childA3
------parentB
------parentC
--------------childC1
--------------childC2
My requirement: when a child is selected/clicked I want to create a grandchild (there could be from zero to say 12 grandchildren). Thus if user clicks/selects childA2:
root
------parentA
--------------childA1
--------------childA2
----------------------grandchildA21
--------------childA3
------parentB
------parentC
--------------childC1
--------------childC2
Codewise I have:
import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Tree;
import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.TreeItem;
Question one: do I need any further tree related imports to get this to work?
final Tree tree = new Tree(shell, SWT.VIRTUAL | SWT.BORDER | SWT.CHECK | SWT.V_SCROLL | SWT.H_SCROLL | SWT.SINGLE );
tree.setHeaderVisible(true);
tree.setBounds(975, 00, 375, 600);

And it is here I've tried lots of options but it's like bleak mid winter - no new leaves What seems odd is that I can see the selected/clicked child text item.getText() but if I look at the index it is always -1. And I thought the index would let me create the leaf.
I am tasked with creating several JPanels each of which has a title centered at the top. As such I have created parent panel that each panel extends. However, I am uncertain as to whether drawing the string on the panel or using a JLabel is the best solution. The panels might allow dynamic resizing...
View Replies View RelatedI have a problem with slider which i want to create jlabels in a panel by sliding the slider and get the value but the jlabel doesn't show in jpanel. Below is the code :
JPanel PanelBoxes;

DividePanel div = new DividePanel();
div.go();

Is it good practice to create a inner class for layered panels with lots of components? In my opinion this makes the code easier to read and a lot less clustered.

I need to use a counter to keep track of user's input. In this class I am trying to create a combination lock that takes three strings. In the tester class the user inserts three strings and both are compared to see if users input matches correct combination. I have no errors only problem is the setPosition method. My output is always false.

private String firstGuess;
private String secondGuess;

I'm building a text editor. At this point, the editor should be able to read and write text and rich text. I create an instance of a RichTextEditor class that I created that extends a superclass I created (that extends JTextPane). Both my rich text and plain text classes extends the superclass I created. I use the this.read() to input my plain text from buffered reader. I think I need to use the read(fileinput stream, rtf document) method from type RTFEditorKit, but I cannot use that because it does not extend RTFEditorKit. I don't want to create a new class that extends RTFEditorKit because I need stuff from the JTextPane.
here are the classes on git... the super: TextEditorPane.java
The plaintext: TextEditorWrap.java
and the rich: RichTextEditor.java
I have fiddled with the read() method in different ways. In all cases, nothing loads. If I use the BufferedReader method, it doesn't give me an RTF, just the code for the RTF file.
How should I proceed? Do I create some sort of RTF interface and implement it?
How to create text fields, labels and input boxes on a GUI, we haven't covered these in class as of yet, but I want my project to stand out so I'd like to know how to build a GUI now.
