Swing/AWT/SWT :: Getting Key Labels To Show In Textfield?
Apr 2, 2014
I am working on a keypad for a phone app for school. I cannot get the numbers from the keys to show up in the textField. I have made multiple tweaks, but think maybe my case statement is the problem?We did a calculator application in the class, so I have based my code off of that. Although the telephone keypad seemed much simpler to code, I can't seem to get the numbers to show up.
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
//test for button clicks
foundKey = false;
//search for clicked key
for (int i=0; i<keys.length && !foundKey; i++)
I've created a chat program, but now I need to show messages in different colors depending if the message is received or sent. I was wondering if I can use jlabel to do this but in this case I need that jlabels to scroll in a jpanel. how to do this or maybe using a rtf ?
I wrote a simple random spelling game for a class project, was never able to get the labels to update when they should. I have tried .updateUI, .paintImmediately followed by .revalidate and by .repaint. Nothing seems to be working.
What the game does is show a random word for about 10 seconds, disappear and they user is to spell that word, you have 3 tries then will start over. The "brains" of the game work just fine, it is the labels updating with new text when they should doesn't seem to be working. There is 4 classes but the below is the "Main" that has the problems. Also have a null exception problem with the timer.stop(); not sure why. I am still pretty new to java.
Public class SpellMe extends JFrame { // variables JPanel mainPanel, secondPanel, thirdPanel; JLabel mainLabel, wordLabel; String spWord, sp; JTextArea guess;
How to create text fields, labels and input boxes on a GUI, we haven't covered these in class as of yet, but I want my project to stand out so I'd like to know how to build a GUI now.
Trying to make a swing box where you can type in string data to the text field and a button. I want the string data to be added to a list everytime you press the addbutton.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but none of the buttons will show below. I tried using .add with the container name but it kept giving me an error. When I just put add.(); it seems fine but then nothing shows. Is there something I'm missing that's required?
I've recently decided to learn Java on my own using internet material such as forums, blogs and you tube. Ive never programed before but through some research I concluded that Java is going to be on the mid spectrum of difficulty as far as verbiage goes. I ma in no way implying that Java is easy but instead closer to spoken English that c++ if my research is correct. So here is my attempt at a basic program where I click a button and it will make an image appear. Not sure where Im falling short
package clicktoimage; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; public class Clicktoimage extends JFrame { private JLabel label; private ImageIcon image;
I am trying to make a game with an image on it, and I have one class that gets the image and the other is the game. When I run the program, it just shows my image on a gray JFrame. This leads me to think the image might be covering my whole game, which is weird because it is a mostly transparent image. I have tried resizing it and everything but I don't know what to do..
I am working on a project where i need to show a year value in a class that extends JSpinner.Its working just fine but when i try to set an alignment value for the editor textfield it all falls apart and i know im missing something really critical here but i can't see or find it all i know is that i can't make a proper reference to the textfield component in the editor i use in the correct way or aproach.
public class JNumberSpinner extends JSpinner { private String actionCommand; private boolean isEnabled; private int startValue; private int columns; private int alignment; private SpinnerNumberModel model; private JSpinner.NumberEditor numEditor; private JFormattedTextField jTxtEditorView;
In JButton's click event, I wanto to show a JPanel to print the message "Processing" on the screen. Before JButton's click logic end, hide the JPanel.
Actually, JPanel is not displayed. I do not know why.When msgPanel .setVisible(false); is commented out, JPanel is normally displayed .But do not know how to hide it when JButton's click logic is finished.
Here is the code.
loadBtn.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent arg0) { JPanel msgPanel = new JPanel(rootFrame); // Show the message JPanel
There is a Jlist(Jlist1) which is populated with the columnNames from MYSQL. Then There is another empty Jlist (Jlist2) which the user can add items from Jlist1. At this stage I want to know how I can select items of JList2 from MYSQL to show in Jtable. Because the columnnames(items) of Jlist2 is less than the Jlist1. Like Spss that when you select variables from available list then you can add some of variable to selected list and do analysis.
I'm having some problems with the graphics of my hangman game. The graphic that's supposed to show up on the first guess (the hangman pole) doesn't show up until guess number 2. And on the eighth guess, no graphics show up (I just get a blank frame).
import java.awt.*; import javax.swing.*; public class HangmanFigure extends JPanel { private int guesses; private Image background; public HangmanFigure() { super();
class A { List<StringBuilder> list; public void output(List<StringBuilder> objectToOutput){ try(BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("temp.txt"))){ for(StringBuilder row:objectToOutput) bw.write(row.toString()); }catch(IOException e){}
[code]....
Why don't the a's show up on the console? I put them in as part of the debugging process and now I don't understand why they don't show up in both places.
I am having a pretty bad time with this y goto to classes one form labels with a certain image and the other for another images of the same kind but what i have to do is to use a third class in which both classes have to compile and appear in the right place. Ineed an example or something because i don't get it what to do?
I have a listbox where data is displayed. The problem is when two items in the list have the same label, I am not able to get the correct item details; the item details are different.
I am using MyFaces 2.0 on Tomcat 6.

When i run the program it doesn't show all the text fields and labels and stuff but when i click btnTest_1 and go back to btnTest everything appears...
Java Code:
import javax.swing.*; public class Frame extends JFrame{ private JTextField textField; private JTextField textField_1; public Frame(){ setTitle("Multifunctual Calculator");
