Swing/AWT/SWT :: How To Add Setbounds Inside Static Void Main In Java
Dec 31, 2014
I am making an application in java, inside static void main, i want to customize all buttons, text areas and want to put them on desired location inside application. I have tried to use setbounds but can not use it, how can i use it, or is there any other way or layout to make my application components customized layout.
If the user enters the command line shown above, how many elements are contained in the array which is passed to "public static void main(String args[])" in TestCommandLine?
Choice 1 Four Choice 2 Five Choice 3 Six Choice 4 Seven Choice 5 Nine
Whenever I use setLocation(0,0), the JTextArea never moves. It is always in the top middle of the screen, not at (0,0). The same goes for setBounds(0,0,100,100) BUT the height and width are set this way, just not the location. Why is this?
If i try to make it public void than it say can't call non-static methods inside static(main).if i try to put it into new class and then call it after i fail input it goes into infinite loop.
I have problems with private static void print section, something is missing? And in case 4, I want it to stop the program(end the loop) but it keeps going.
import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.ArrayList; public class Dogregister16 { public static ArrayList<Dog> dogregister = new ArrayList(); private static Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in); public static void main(String[] args) { initiate();
[Code] ....
case 4: System.exit(0); System.out.println("Exit program"); } } } }
package Experimentation; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class SimpleGUI1B implements ActionListener { JButton button; public static void main(String[] args) { SimpleGUI1B gui = new SimpleGUI1B(); gui.go();
[code]...
This is a program from Head First Java! since main is static it shouldn't be able to call non-static methods because statics do not use any instance variable values but in the above program we're call a non-static method go() how is it possible?
I have written a small program that creates a loop that only fails to continue once we reach a StackOverflowError exception. It looks just like:
class MyFirstApp { static int counter; public static void main(String[] args) { counter++; System.out.println(counter + " in main."); roundAbout(); }
public static void roundAbout() { counter++; System.out.println(counter + " in roundAbout."); main( new String[0] ); } }
The idea of the program is to go between each method without using an object. Each time the method is entered the static int counter variable is incremented and outputted along with its respective loop. The loop does, however, fail eventually.
By calling the between the methods we build a tower of stack frames that eventually topples. The number of times this runs before the StackOverflowError occurs varies, though. Sometimes I get 6553, 6554 or something else close to these values.
Is there a way to pop a method of the stack or clear part of the stack so I can keep this going? I don't know where I would use this but it would be nice to know.
I am trying to drag and drop tree nodes within the same JTree. I have a code which uses Java 1.2 java.awt.dnd.I would like to use TransferHandler and newer implementation.I have found a code which works when JTree is drop target but there is no code where Jtree is drag source and drop target.
I believe I am on the right track but when I run the program I get an error that the class that I can't call on the method. I need to have what is selected in the JCheckBoxes added to the toppings array and I can't get that done what so ever.
Java Code:
import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; public class PizzaOrderListener { public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); JPanel panel = new JPanel();
I saw an example where an (inner)class is declared inside the main method, this is correct or not and why/when it's reasonable to use?so smth like this
public class myClass() { public static void myMethod(myInnerClass obj) { if (obj.method())
I am trying to make a 2d graphical animation using the java swing classes in order to make a frame. I had a basic version working when all of the code was under the main method, but when I moved some into another method it broke it. With y understanding of java my code should work as I create a variable of the method containing the code and then assign the size and exit button. However this causes many problems such as my BeaconFrame method informing me that it is unused when I have used it. Here is my code:
import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; public class BelishaBeacon { public void BeaconFrame() { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); JPanel panel1 = new JPanel();
I just kinda get stuck when it comes to passing values into constructors, using main method or static method functionality. In theory i kind of understand how it work but when i type it, it's totally different! I have to have a junit test too but i guess i could do that in the end.
I have attached the assignment. So, how to proceed with this:
public class Flight { int flight_number, capacity, number_of_seats_left; String origin, destination; String departure_time; double original_price;
I have a Jframe and i want to add inside 4 different jpanel.This is easy.
what is difficult is how can i change them dynamically with 4 other new jpanels and 4 other new jpanels?
I have try with BorderLayout but not working.
It's a wizard like but not the same.
I have a jpanel with jbuttons jpanel with a jtable jpanel with textarea and jpanel with jlabels. All this have to change with other 4 jpanels, where to look?
I have a Tcr object as a member variable of the JFrame. But When ChangeListener swings into action, the variable inside it are all nulls. the TcrPanel is created before the ChangeListener is triggered.
I am currently writing a chess application in Java swing. For the GUI part, I have one MainWindow class, and one ChessBoard class. The MainWindow has a main panel, in which is contained 1) a panel containing the chessboard from the chessboard class (a grid layout array of 64 JLabels), 2) a JLabel status bar, and 3) a JList to hold the moves of the game. I have a movePiece method in the chessboard class, which I would like to add the move and question to the moves list, which is contained in the main window class.
However, since JList is some special type, I can't make it static ( that gives me an error ). I also tried creating a method in the main window class to add a move to the list, which I would then access via the chessboard class. However, I can't make the method static, because it is referencing a non-static variable ( the JList ), and since the Main window class already has an object of the chessboard class, trying to create a main window object in the chessboard class creates a stack overflow error.
I am developing a java based software connected with a mysql database. I have an Item table in my database. I created a bean class which can keep all item data with it and. Then I loaded each Item data in to its object and fill a Jcombobox. Now I want to search with Item name and get all Item data when selecting that item. I have overidden the toString method to Item name in that class. Is there any way to search my Item objects inside a jcombobox?
I try to create Java Swing Desktop application which show Road map of some area in JFrame. But pc not connected to internet it will be in LAN. Map should be like if we scroll the mouse we go down from height in map. Like zooming the area.
I try to find out by google i get lots of forum links but each showing me.
1. I have to do web application. 2. Google not support 'without internet' map facility. 3. I should use lots of jpgs which store in folder for showing map from various height so it look like when we see any map in Google Earth application.
I found goworldwind.org but not clear understanding right now.
I don't know if this is appropriate to Swing/AWT, or even if this is a Java issue, but I had quite a shock recently. I have been working on a kind of drawing program in which the user can select tiny control rectangles and drag them around, causing the shape of a polygon to change. (They are not implemented as Java Polygons or Shapes because some are one-dimensional). I have gotten it into pretty good shape, so I exported it from Eclipse, my development platform, into a standalone Java application. In the standalone application, each time I drag the mouse, the redrawing shows nasty flickering, as if it's running too slowly. While I was developing the application inside Eclipse, it ran perfectly, with no flickering whatsoever.
What gives? I'd expect that the in-Eclipse runs would be slower, because they're burdened with extra debugging baggage, while the exported standalone version should run faster. But the reverse is the case.
this code won't compile because selected row must be declared as final because of it being defined outside the window listener. Is their anyway around this? If I make it final the first time that the variable is called it keeps it starting value until the GUI is closed.
butEdit.addActionListener (new ActionListener () { @Override public void actionPerformed (java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) { int selectedRow = table.getSelectedRow (); final String [] values = custTableModel.getRowValues (selectedRow);
I am building a GUI application which consists of two panels "panel" and "panel1". "panel1" have a button "addTimer" when clicked it should add the "panel" to the frame if i gain click the button it should again add the "panel" without overlapping the previous "panel" rather it should be created below the previous "panel". If i click on the button "addTimer" n times it should add the panel n times. Along with this the frame size has to dynamically change depending on the number of panels produced. Below is the code i tried my level best to satisfy the above conditions.
package superTimerV2; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class SuperTimer extends JFrame { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
