Swing/AWT/SWT :: Create A Simple JFrame Application
Jan 22, 2015
I installed Windowsbuilder in Eclipse as described in this video:URL....
To get starated I now want to create a simple JFrame application that works in the following way. On the opening screen I want to present 4 buttons. Based on the selection I want the JFrame to change layout and components so that the same JFrame behind the scenes contains 5 layouts but only one visible at any time. What is the best way to accomplish this? Or should I do this in another way using multiple JFrames or similar?
I need to put a Web Page in my JFrame application , I got a lot codes on the internet and could implement without problems , but the problem is that this code has an ugly page as hell, with colored all wrong and with a very poor quality , one of code I used was this :
* import javax.swing . ;
{ public class SwingWebPage public static void main ( String args [ ] ) throws Exception { JEditorPane website = new JEditorPane ( " http://www.google.com/ " ) ; website.setEditable ( false) ;
[code]...
If you test , you'll see that the page is displayed in the JFrame is horrible.
I have asked to make a desktop application to manage accounting detail of some construction company. So, I am thinking of making it using Swing. But till now i have always worked in making web applications in servlet, jsp, struts2 .. What are the steps to create swing application in MyEclipse.
Sir, I'am new to Swing Programming. I have to create an application where an image is displayed on one Label. The same image has to be split in parts and stored in database pert wise. Later the user has to retrieve the entire image by viewing a small part of the image. I have already displayed the full image on the Label, now i don't know how to split the image and store it part wise in the database.
I am new to JSF. I am looking for a sample example to work with JSF using MVC framework. I searched on the net but can not found any simple examples to start with, JSF + MVC.good examples to work with simple examples for JSF + MVC.
I am trying to design properly a simple 1to50 game (yes, the one that is so popular among mobile apps), but as a web application that allows two player games. I tried to document myself on the technologies I could use and came to the decision that some kind of Java would be suitable. I know that HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript are client side languages with what I can basically design the client application that runs on a web browser. I installed Tomcat web server, configured Java Servlet API, done some research on Servlets and JSP, but I still cannot really imagine how all of this can work. Servlets form the Controller, JSP files the Model? How can I make them communicate, how can Servlets "tell" JSP files what to dynamically generate? Can JSP files communicate with JavaScript? Is JavaScript even necessary?
I thought that this question is not basically about a specific thing regarding JSP or Servlets, more about design and general concept, that is why I put this question under beginning Java.
I want to create simple java application which has 3 text fields and the application will have database connection. Once done, I want to run this application on other systems without using any IDE. So how do I do this? How can I make an application installable on other system so that on clicking on it, it will start executing?
I have created a simple applet application that is embedded in a HTML. When I did compiled it, I received an error of ClassNotFoundException. I'm using Jdeveloper11gR1. Please see screenshot.
This is my error :
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: cams.gsis.applet.CAMSApplet at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadClass0(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
[Code] ....
And this is my Error on java console.

How to make a Jframe close without closing the whole operation, I started off using exit on close and changed it to hide on close and i also tried dispose on close for some reason it wont work. Here is what I have.
import java.awt.*; import javax.swing.*; public class GUILauncheralt{ public static void main(String[] args){ RetrieveWindow gui = new RetrieveWindow(); gui.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.HIDE_ON_CLOSE); gui.setSize(400, 200);
I am new to Java, I am using Netbeans to create a simple GUI with one button that just says "play". I want this to play an mp3 file i specify. I have found code to simply play a WAV which works great.There is lots of information on the net about playing an mp3 but it's all long an complicated. There must be a simple way to just have java play an mp3 file.
I'm new to java and trying to learn the ropes on Netbeans!What I want to do is make a class which does the following
-Asks for and reads a first number on the command line. -Asks for and reads a second number using a JOptionPane -Asks for and reads your name using a JOptionPane
I want it to output the name and the remainder of the first number divided by the second number.
My assignment was to create a simple form that demonstrates the use of the factory and singleton design patterns. "Use the Factory pattern to ensure that each form input consists of a text label and a textfield. Use the Singleton pattern for the submit button. When the submit button is clicked, a pop-up should show all the information that was typed into all of the form fields."
I used JFrame to create the form without the design patterns and I although I get the desired result, I'm not quite sure how I can integrate the design patterns into the code I wrote. The example I have to go off uses shapes, not text fields so I think that's why I'm not quite clear on how to approach this.
The game is too have two players, each user clicks a button and two dices will roll, if a user rolls a double they win.
firstly I have started with two imageview's and a button I am trying to randomise two images by clicking one button I have managed to randomise one image in one box but I am struggling to randomise both image views here is my code so far.
So I'm trying to create a simple user database that I could eventually turn into a login system. I created a simple table on MySQL with a name and address for the sake of simplicity. I tried to create simple statement inside my main method that would connect to my MySQL server and when I run my program I get a ClassNotFoundException from "org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"..Here is what I have in my main method thus far:
public static void main(String args[]) { try { Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"); //Load the driver Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/data", "root", ""); //Connect /* conn.createStatement().execute("CREATE TABLE people (" + "id int(64) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT," + "name varchar(255) NOT NULL," + "address varchar(255) NOT NULL," + "UNIQUE (id)," + "FULLTEXT(name, address))");
[code]....
I downloaded Connector/J in the the binary .zip form and extracted it to my C: drive and put the .jar file into my java directories lib folder. I also added the directory of the .jar file into my CLASSPATH and I still get the exception.
I coded up a simple applet and some html with an applet tag and it tested out OK using the applet viewer. But it doesn't do anything (except draw a grey empty box 100x200) when executed from the application server. For the applicaton server test, I put the applet tag in the HTML Body of the JSP page i.e.
I'm just starting to learn Java GUI. I'm trying to make a simple GUI that will update dynamically but having trouble ending the loop correctly.The Currently I've got the GUI updating and stopping, but the Test class method loop does not terminate correctly, it continues to count.
import java.awt.*; // Using AWT container and component classes import java.awt.event.*; // Using AWT event classes and listener interfaces import java.util.Timer; import java.util.TimerTask;
I am a beginner with Java. I have never used SWING before but I have to use it now and I am clueless. I don't know if what I am doing is right.I need to create a simple calculator. My problem is getting the buttons the user clicks to appear in a text field. I know I haven't added the =/*- buttons yet.
I have left actionPerformed practically blank, what to put in ?
import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; /** * Created by IntelliJ IDEA. * Date: 11/12/2014 * Changing Face Program. */ public class Calc extends JFrame implements ActionListener
I am trying to use a JComboBox with a simple ListCellRenderer
public class EntscheidendeBehoerdeListRenderer extends JLabel implements ListCellRenderer<EntscheidendeBehoerde> { private static final Color HIGHLIGHT_COLOR = new Color(0, 0, 128); private static final long serialVersionUID = -4719965772580952993L; public Component getListCellRendererComponent( JList<? extends EntscheidendeBehoerde> list, EntscheidendeBehoerde value, int index, boolean isSelected, boolean cellHasFocus) {
[code].....
The JCombox shows and odd behavior, when I point to an item it moves up or down and an empty line appears under the cursor.
I am fairly new to Java. I am trying to learn some image manipulation basics. I have searched the web endlessly and made numerous attempts but I cannot seem to get a darn image to display. This code is my latest attempt in Eclipse. The file I am using is chairangle.jpg which is is the src folder of the package I am working in in Eclipse. I am on Windows 8.
import java.awt.*; import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.ImageIcon; public class otherimg extends JFrame { public static void main(String args[]){ JFrame f = new JFrame(); ImageIcon image = new ImageIcon("image/chairangle.jpg"); JLabel label = new JLabel("", image, JLabel.CENTER); JPanel panel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout()); panel.add( label, BorderLayout.CENTER ); f.pack(); f.setVisible(true); } }
I need to create an java 2D application for the manipulation of image. I saw the JAI library but it can not install it properly, I also copied the jar but I can not find the solution. How can I do? there is a replacement for JAI? what other libraries can I use?
Create a Java Application in NetBeans with the following two classes.
1. A Java class College o Use the following data fields: College Name College City Number of Tracks Number of Students Number of Faculty Number of Staff o Implement an empty constructor o Implement a full constructor o Implement Setters and Getters (Mutators and Accessors) o Implement SetAll() method with all data members as parameters
2. Another Java class called CollegeDemo with the main() method: o In the main(): o Read the values of the fields of 3 colleges from a text file and for each create a College object. Filename: colleges.txt IT Dubai 7 200 50 20 ENG Abudhabi 4 400 60 20 SCIENCE Sharjah 3 300 40 20 First with empty constructor then uses setters. Second with full constructor (no need to use setters). Last one with empty constructor and SetAll() setter. o Display the average number of students for all the 3 colleges. o Change the value of ‘Number of Students’ in the SCIENCE College to 500, and display the average number of students again.
here my code :
public class Demo { private String name ; private String city; private String cname ;
Create a java application that contains an array of 10 multiple-choice questions related to you favorite hobby. each question contains three answer choices. also create a parallel array that holds the correct answer to each question - A,B, or C. display each question and verify that the users enters only A,B, or C as the answere - if not, keep prompting the user until a valid response in entered. If the user responds to a question correctly, display "Correct!"; otherwise, display the correct answer is and the letter to the correct answer. After the user answer all the question, display the number of correct and incorrect answers.

Simple gui task. it meant to draw pie chart with different colors. i can't seem to find a mistake in it. It works if i put in g2g.draw(arc) i know arcs overlaps a bit due int conversion, but that's ok.
