Swing/AWT/SWT :: How To Disable Entire Jpanel And All Its Contents
Oct 23, 2014
I'd like to enable/disable a jpanel and it's entire contents in one fell swoop. I could of course call each component's .setEnabled() method, but I figured there must be a better way!
I have a class that extends JFrame, within that, i have set up JPanel where within that i have four JComboBoxes, I am to enable this JPanel and its JComboBoxes at the end of a method
The code for that method is:
private void tableNumberJComboBoxItemStateChanged() { // load data for table try { // get data for table myResultSet = myStatement.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM" + "restauranttables WHERE tableNumber = " + Integer.parseInt( selectedTableNumber));
[Code] ....
I am not sure how to enable this JPanel? I have another Jpanel to Disable but one question at a time i suppose.
I have in my app a JTable. I would like to know how can i do to, when i click in a cell, my jtable paint the entire line of this cell. Here is what i did.
Method call: private void jTable1MouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent evt) { int row = jTable1.rowAtPoint( evt.getPoint() );// Don't know how to send this info through setDefaultRenderer. jTable1.setDefaultRenderer( Object.class, new RowRender() );
I want my jrame should not be resized when clicking on maximize button of window.and for this i have put setResizable(false)in the constructor of class which extends Jframe.
Is there a way to disable sorting by clicking on the JTable headers?I have tried a few ways but because I am sorting the data when I load it that 'breaks' that also. Here is what I am trying to achieve.
I have in my application a button that when it is pressed, runs a long running task (usually takes a couple of seconds....).
My problem is that while the task runs, I want to stop the button from receiving clicks. Unfortunately this is something I have not achieved.
I have tried creating a new thread and calling the long running method, and using the Display.geCurrent().asyncExec...
Examples of what I have tried so far:
myButton.addSelectionListener(new SelectionAdapter() { @Override public void widgetSelected(SelectionEvent e) { if (myList.size() > 0) { myButton.setEnabled(false); myButton.setGrayed(true);
[Code] .....
In both cases, while the button is disabled and the cursor busy, if the user clicks the button, the long running method is ran several times - and this is what I want to avoid.
I obtained the following code online which purports to get the content of the JFrame:
public BufferedImage getScreenShot( Component component) { BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage( winWidth,
[Code] .....
Then I write out the image with the following code:
BufferedImage screenShot = getScreenShot(c); try{ File outputfile = new File(
[Code] .....
When I double-click on the resulting file, all the images show up as black rectangles in Windows Photo Viewer. Yet the associated buffered image displays correctly in the window. I've tried 'jpg, 'png', and 'bmp' extensions, with matching formats in the write. I am using Win-7 64-bit. and jdk8 with matching jre.
I have a Jtable which shows contents on each row. but the row contents which are bigger than the width of the column gets shown as "BlahBlah.." (basically getting showed up as .. in the end)
User has to manually increase the width of the column to see those extra contents.For e.g if the row contents are ABCDEFGHI and the widht of the column for that row is sufficient enough to show only ABCDEF of that, then it will show up as something like "ABCD.."Now my requirement is to show the complete contents over to next column on the same row.
Note: I could simply add the code to show the widht of the column to adjust according to largest row content for that column . But unfortunately this is not what is required.
I have been doing a project of ERP solution using JAVA AWT FRAMES and MYSQL(for database purpose). Here there is an ADMIN portion, who has the authority to make PAYROLLS of individual employees. There is a Frame where individual employee details will be shown(like basic salary, HRA, no.of leaves, other allowances...etc) in text boxes.
Now what i want is to make a PDF file of that payroll, so that I can make a hardcopy of it. The idea is just like anyother online form fill-up, where at the end you submit and save (or export) as a PDF (or text file) document. But I mention that it is a stanalone project, not an online one (i think it doesn't matter though).
So the basic idea is how to make a PDF file by extracting the text field or choice contents from a frame in JAVA AWT.
My code is running via javaw on Windows 7 and XP. It sits in the background waiting for a barcode to be swiped, and then wakes up and asks a question. The trouble is that sometimes (definitely not always), it shows like this:
The code is:
public static void Question(String sTitle,String sLabel) { JFrame window = new JFrame(); // Create a modal dialog d = new JDialog(window, sTitle, true); d.setLayout( new BoxLayout(d.getContentPane(),BoxLayout.Y_AXIS) ); JPanel p1 = new JPanel();
[Code]...
Initially I though it might because I had another thread running which occasionally put up announcement messages in JFrames. But I have taken this out and the problem still persists.
I'm developing Chat application GUI using SWING. My GUI has two JtestAreas one for displaying message that i was sent, and another for displaying replay coming from server. I was used Thread.sleep(1000) after message sent . Due to that, AWT-EventQueue-0 thread stops to display send message in first JtextArea and waits until it get response from server. After got response from server, in one shot, My GUI displays both JtetAreas Content.
But, I need to display send Message and Response Message in two different shots. I know the reason why it displays in one shot.
try { ByteArrayInputStream in = new ByteArrayInputStream( transferWorker.bOutput .toByteArray()); BufferedImage bufferedImage = ImageIO .read(in);
[Code] ....
But nothing is happening in the GUI. I have stepped through and bufferedimage contains the data, but its not being displayed. Whats happening is, an image is being transmitted to serial port of laptop, so i'm taking it in and storing it in a BufferOutputStream and then trying to open it in my GUI class.
I have a Jframe and i want to add inside 4 different jpanel.This is easy.
what is difficult is how can i change them dynamically with 4 other new jpanels and 4 other new jpanels?
I have try with BorderLayout but not working.
It's a wizard like but not the same.
I have a jpanel with jbuttons jpanel with a jtable jpanel with textarea and jpanel with jlabels. All this have to change with other 4 jpanels, where to look?
How can I make a call to paintComponent within the JPanel-class, from another Class?
In class TestClass:
public class TestClass { public TestClass() { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); frame.setLayout(new BorderLayout()); frame.setSize(500,500); initComponents();
I have been trying to create a chat client which makes use of a scrollable jpanel and at runtime adds JTextFields to the panel.
Panel Initialising
msgPanel = new JPanel(new MigLayout()); msgPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(400,335)); JScrollPane msgPanelScroll = new JScrollPane(msgPanel); msgPanelScroll.setHorizontalScrollBarPolicy(ScrollPaneConstants.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_NEVER); msgPanelScroll.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(ScrollPaneConstants.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED); mainPanel.add(msgPanelScroll,"span 3,alignx center,wrap");
[Code] .....
But now Im facing the following issues. The text field aligns to the center of the panel & on adding more fields the panel accommodates as it can and does not begin scrolling.
package GUI; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Color; public class gui5 { int x=0; int y=0; public static void main(String... x) {
[code]...
but just a Jframe is appearing no Jpanel no green color circle?What is wrong with code
I am try to do an application based in multiples JFrames, each one with its particular responsibilities, and use one JPanel as a menu with buttons that connect one JFrame to another, But this menu is instantiated at run in view (layout made by netbeans) the Main Jframe appears with its internal JPanel, but the instantiated JPanel does not appear or does not show it's buttons. (notice only run method in the second class):
JPanel Menu that will be used in all alone JFrames of application:
public class MenuSuperior extends javax.swing.JPanel { public MenuSuperior() { initComponents(); } private void initComponents() {
Let me explain by simplifying the GUI to a simple frame in which I have a JCheckbox and a JPanel mypanel.mypanel has a Textfield tf,JComboBox cmb as it's components.So now if I deselect the JCheckbox, all the components in the mypanel should be disabled. I used a code like:
but the components inside the panels are not disabled. In my actual program I have a large number of different kinds of components in mypanel.So disabling/enabling each of them on each actionPerformed of the mycheckbox will be laborious. Isn't there any way by which I can disable/enable the mypanel to disable/enable all the components in it?
I trying to replace original (and empty) JPanel in JFrame with my own made one, components does no appear right, when I pass the mouse first button appears:
I need to add 2 JLists inside a JPanel for a crossword. The JPanel is located SOUTH and I'm using BorderLayout in the constructor to locate the JPanel.
The problem is, I can't see the 2 JLists inside the JPanel. For some strange reason the JLists appear in the center where the crosswordPanel is, even though the clues JPanel method is located SOUTH.
