Swing/AWT/SWT :: Setting Multiple Values To Textarea
Jun 18, 2014
I am making use of NetBeans IDE 8.0 to build a GUI. The idea is that I set multiple values received from textfields to textarea. This will enable me print the work. But ONLY ONE value from textfields is set(appear on textarea); the others do not appear at all. Below is example of what I mean:
String s = jTextField1.getText();
JTextArea1.setText(s);
String x =
jTextField2.getText();
JTextArea1.setText(x);
The below program ask the user to enter the value of x 1 , Y 1 and radius in separate boxes , What would look nice is if the user can Enter the Value X ,Y and radius in the same box.
import javax.swing.JOptionPane; public class C3E29GeometryTwoCircles { public static void main(String[] args) { // Ask the user to enter the x1 coordinate. String strNumber = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Enter the value of x1 coordinate " ); double x1 = Double.parseDouble(strNumber); strNumber = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Enter the value of y1 coordinate " ); double y1 = Double.parseDouble(strNumber);
We have a requirement that we need to have text area/text box on screen to accept multiple languages like (Spanish and russian) that means user can able to enter their text data either in any language like english,russian and spanish(It should be possible to enter the comments in russian and spanish languages). Is it possible to implement in java/j2ee?
I have a PDF file and I have a text file that contains this data. It has the name of a PDF field along with a database table column name.
Text file: pdfFieldEmployee=Employee; pdfFieldStartDate=StartDate; pdfFieldSalary=Salary; pdfFieldExempt=Exempt
I also have this hash map that contains the database table column names along with their corresponding values:
Employee, Don Parker StartDate, 5/6/2000 Salary, $55000 Exempt, N
How would I read through the text file and the hash map and at the same time do this:
if the pdf field is equal to pdfFieldEmployee, then set pdfFieldEmployee equal to Don Parker. if the pdf field is equal to pdfFieldStartDate, then set pdfFieldStartDate equal to 5/6/2000.
and so on and so on. I would prefer to do this with a loop because I think it would take less code than writing a bunch of if statements.
I am setting text to textarea from textfield. It works perfectly. My challenge, however, is setting texts with spaces in-Between them. For example, what I observe is:Amount23 instead of: Amount 23. Is it possible to automatically create word space while setting texts?
I am getting errors when I try setting left and right values (which are String types) for my tree.I tried doing something like:
Node node = new Node("Is it human?", null, null); node.getLeft().setNode("Is it Zelda?");//the first left Q node.getRight().setNode("Is it Kirby?");//the first right Q
but that gives me a runtime error of "java.lang.NullPointerException" which points to the line 2. I also tried this:
Node node = new Node("Is it human?", null, null); node.setLeft(setNode("Is it Zelda?"));//the first left Q node.setRight(setNode("Is it Kirby?"));//the first right Q
but that gives me another error, pointing to the setNode for both lines 2 and 3,plus it wouldnt make sense since both setLeft and setRight takes in Node types, not String types.
Here is my Node class:
public class Node { private Node leftPt, rightPt;//left and right pointers for Node private String node, left, right; public Node(String node, Node leftPt, Node rightPt){ this.node = node; this.leftPt = leftPt; this.rightPt = rightPt;
I managed to retrieve data, and set data in my own ways in which I like. But my problem is, if the file does not contain anything (fully empty), when I try to use my
I have a question in mind that this is my registration form. I am sending these values from HTML form to server and database. I have question that in my case if I click next to Add Another Mobile no in HTML.then a block is genereated and each time a new name is generated.
My Question is if I click 6 times then 6 name attribute are generated. How can I send and differentiate them on my server side.
Because at their I will use something request.getAttribute("Attr_Name");
I am rather new to Swing, and I am building a game right now in which I need to display a pop-up window as a reminder for what commands exist within the game. I created a class extending JFrame for this and added all the information I need. However, for some reason, no matter how many different ways I try to set the size of this window (setSize(w, h), pack(), using a different layout, adding the compnents to a JPanel first and setting the preffered size of that, then adding the JPanel to the JFrame), it doesn't work. Instead of a window of my requested size, I get a tiny, maybe 100 x 100 pixel window that needs to be resized in order for its contents to be visible.
Recently I have been working on an executable launcher. I tried to get the executable icons and set them on the JButtons. Still there are some problems. Here is a part of the code:
Here the getConfig() method is already defined to get a string in a "properties" file. However, the icons are very small and they don't fill the entire button.
How can the icon fill the entire button (for example, having a custom size of 48x48, or automatically filled the button)? The frame will not be resized.
What I'm trying to do is show a loginscreen. After logging in it should show another contentpane with actual content.
This is my main class:
public class Project extends JFrame { public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame frame = new Project (); JPanel paneel = new Paneel (); frame.setSize (800, 600);
[Code] ....
The compiler gives me an error when I try to refer to "frame". What I've tried to do is refer to frame by using Project.frame but it still gives me the same error. The compiler shows the message that it cannot find "frame" in class Project, but that's exactly where it is!
Is there a simple way to make this work? I've read about threads and loops but they don't seem the most basic solution. Maybe there's a way to get the current frame so I can use that?
I am wondering how to do the following:when a user clicks on a save menu item, a save JFileChooser pops up. I would like to have a default file name set in the FileName box on the chooser, similar to what applications like Microsft word has. Right now, no file name will appear until the user has selected a file.I also need to know how to get the text from this box in the case that the user enters a new file name (the getSelection function is not useful here because the user will not have selected an existing file.)
Write a complete Student class that allows you to use the statements such as the following in methods in outside classes, with the obvious meanings. Then write an application program that creates one student object, reads in test grades until a negative "grade" is seen (as a signal that the list of grades has ended), then prints out all available information about the Student:
Student bob = new Student ("Robert", "Newhart"); bob.storeGrade (23); // bob scored 23 on this test return bob.getTotalGrades();; // total of test scores to date return bob.getAverageGrade();; // for all test scores to date return bob.getName();; // returns "Robert Newhart"
What I need is in the Student class... I'm not sure how to go about storing the grades without renewing the value of storeGrade (I'm sure what I have right now is incorrect, but I'm stuck). This is what I have so far, as you can see I left some of the grade-related bits blank for now, but all I want to know is how I can store the grades:
Java Code:
public class Student extends Object { private int itsTotalGrades; private int itsAverageGrades; private String itsFirstName; private String itsLastName; private int storeGrade; public Student (String first, String last)
Can I assign multiple values to one variable? For example I want myNum = 0 thru 9 you see im trying to program a password checker program to verify that the password meets all the criteria 8 char long, 1 upper case, 1 lower case, 1 numeric, 1 special, and don't contain and or end
Here is my HashMap and a method for listing all the keys in it
HashMap<String, String> exampleOne = new HashMap<String, String>(); public void allKeys() { int i; i =0; for (String name: exampleOne.keySet())
[Code]....
Now I want to return all values that associated with one key. How do I do this? Or is it possible to other way round? I mean return All keys associated with a value?
This is my insert.jsp page I want to insert multiple values into database Including multiple values of checkbox, other values are getting inserted but only problem at selecting multiple checkbox values in same column and radio button value in same column.
---------------------look for servlet page below----------------
Connection con = null; ResultSet rs = null; PreparedStatement pst = null; int user = 0; String User_Id1 = null; String Other_Services = ""; String Title = request.getParameter("Title");
[Code]...
Is there any solution to insert this...By mistake in query I have followed with extra questionmark in following line This is correctline for inserting 5 values in database
Can you have multiple key events? by that I mean say you press the right arrow key, or a number on the numeric pad, then you press the letter c. does the second key event get fired? and i can catch both events?
I've been doing a course with a heavy focus on applets and AWT using BlueJ. I've branched out and learn to convert my applets to applications. I can successfully use frames to do similar things to applets (in BlueJ's applet viewer) but I can not seem to run more than application at a time (unlike applets where I could run several at the same time).
Below is a simple Hello World program I wrote. When I re-run main() it closes the original and starts again. (I'm aiming to explore the java.net.* libraries and for testing would like to use more than one frame at a time which can communicate to each over via sockets).
import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class HelloWorld extends Frame implements WindowListener { public static void main (String[] args) { HelloWorld app = new HelloWorld(); app.setSize(500,500);
So im making a calculator just basic 4 function with a clear button. as i am working into this project i am running into an issue of assigning which click sets what. For instance i click the two button how do i tell it to assign it to firstNum, versus secondNum?
private class theHandler implements ActionListener{ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event){ if(event.getSource()==one){ firstNum=1; } if(event.getSource()==two){ secondNum =2; } if(event.getSource()==three){ secondNum =3; }
So this for instance allows me to set one to the firstNum and then add it to two or three but im not sure what to do next. I have in my mind i want to do something like make three listener classes, that operate in sequential order like you pick the first numbers, click an operation, and then select the second numbers then hit the operation(equal) button to display answer. Am i on the right track or what?
I'm trying to create a Java swing chess application, but would like to divide the GUI part of it into at least two different classes (possibly more later, but I'm not sure yet). Currently I have a mainGUI class and a ChessBoard class, both of which extend JFrame. I want the main GUI class to contain a JPanel which will house several components, including a JPanel originating from the chessboard class that contains the actual board.
Is there any way to do this? I tried just creating a ChessBoard object in my main GUI class and then adding it to the component, but I got an illegal argument exception, because apparently you can't add one JFrame to another. How to do what I'm trying to do, or just how to split GUIs into multiple classes in general?
