I'm making a Hangman program for Java, here's my code:
import java.util.Scanner;
public class Hangman {
/**
* @param args the command line arguments
*/
public static void main(String[] args) {
String answerWord = WordList.getWord();
[Code] .....
The Compiler gives me this only error:
Hangman.java:39: error: unexpected type
displayWord.charAt(i)=userInput.charAt(0);
^
required: variable
found: value
I understand that charAt returns i as a value and not a variable. What do I use to return a variable as I intended?
I am trying to understand Life time of a variable by writing a below program. But unable to compile it as it is throwing some error. Code snippet and error as follows,
// Understanding Lifetime of a variable. class LifeTime { public static void main(String args[]) { int x; for(x = 0; x <3 ; x++) { int y = -1; // y is initialized each time block is entered
[Code] .....
Please refer to the print screen attached 'LifeTime.jpeg' to this thread to know more about error.
public class Class1 extends AbstractClass { //stuff } public class Class2 extends AbstractClass { //stuff }
within another class I have a private variable with the type of the Abstract class, and within one of the methods I assign an object to the the variable like this:
public class Test { private AbstractClass temp; public testMethod(){ Class1 anObject = new Class1(); temp = anObject; } }
I don't understand how i'm supposed to define a variable when the user has to type it into the program so it can be converted. This program i'm working on is supposed to convert from meters to feet (meter = feet * 0.305) but the user has to type in the meters they want converted. how do i solve the problem that keeps coming up that says "variable meter symbol cant be found" ? I keep trying different lines to no avail
public class Lab2 { public static void main(String[] args) { double feet = meter * 0.305; double meter = feet/0.305; System.out.println("Enter in feet for conversion to meters"); meter = meter * 0.305;
I have created an enumerated data type that represents months. In my program I have asked the user for the month. I hold the month entered by user into a string variable. From that string variable I'm trying to display the month using my enumerated data type. I know I can use if statements, but is there another simple way to do it?
import java.util.Scanner; public class demo { //Enum class called month that has constants in it representing months enum month{january,february,march,april,may,june, july,august,september, october,november, december};
This program should display the sum, average, product, smallest and largest of the numbers.
Java Code:
//Displays the sum, average, product, smallest and largest of the numbers import java.util.Scanner; public class Practice6 { public static void main( String[] args) { Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("Enter an integer: ");
[Code] ....
The problem is when I enter
The first integer: 7 The second integer: 5 The third integer: 9
The program displays "The third integer is the largest and the second integer is the smallest" then displays "The first integer is the largest and the second integer is the smallest". The main method returned to the IF statement in the line 23. How or why?
Okay i have done some research and have found that when using the JOptionPane, when the cancel or x button is clicked, the value is returned as null for the particular JOptionPane. It does not seem to work when I try to code it though, I have tried the following:
Java Code:
public static int getBoardType() { int boardType = 0; String boardInput; boardInput = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "Enter 1 (LongBoard), 2 (Shortboard), or 3 (BoogieBoard)." , "Dwelling Type", JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);
[Code] ....
If the "X" button or the Cancel button does in fact return a null value, why is the way I have this set up not working?
I have observed a strange behaviour from Resultset object. My application fetches 400 records from a table and processes these records every 10secs. By default the resultset has a fetchsize of 10 from the database cursor. As I understand if the query returns 400records, the resultset will fetch 40times, in multiple of 10 to get all these 400 records from database cursor.
Query : SELECT * FROM ( SELECT * FROM TestTable WHERE STATE_ACTION = 0 ORDER BY ROP_TIME DESC ) WHERE ROWNUM <= 250
Observation : Under a normal operation, the resultset fetches all the 400 records on query execution from database cursor, but under unknown conditions the same resultset object fetches only 10 records from the database cursor and exits. Please refer page 297 in document below for the result fetch size details. JDBC developer guide for oracle 10g : [URL] .... This condition self-heals itself in few hours or restarting the database or restarting the server. The root cause of this behavior is unknown.
I don't understand why the object reference variable 'a' cannot be recast from a thisA object reference to a thisB object reference.Is it the case that once a reference variable is linked to a particular object type then it cannot switch object types later on.I am facing the Java Associate Developer exam soon and I am just clearing up some issues in my head around object reference variable assignment,
class thisA {} class thisB extends thisA { String testString = "test";} public class CastQuestion2 { public static void main(String[] args) { thisA a = new thisA(); thisB b = new thisB();
char array[] = new char[10]; int i = 0; array[i++] = (char)('A' + i); System.out.println("char for array is: " + array[0]); mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
However, the result for array[0] is B. Not A. from my understanding, the array[0] should be 'A'.
I am new to DreamInCode! I was creating a game using OpenGL (and slick for textures).
Using Vector3f, I make coordinates to where my camera is camera'ing (and rotation).
It was working... until I modified something. I only added shaders. When I took the shaders off I think I might of accidentally deleted something. Nonetheless the code looks perfect to me.
On the method "input()" everything runs. No errors are thrown anywhere. I have syso'd the hell outa my code. It shows no signs of breaks. I can, however, move elements I put into my program. I am 100% sure that no other class is breaking my game (soon to be).
What you should look out for: I am not really sure about the glLoadIdentity()'s and glMatrixMode(). I am, knowing a good part of, thinking it could be gluViewPort....
My problem: Can't move my camera even tho it was working before.
package Threads; public class Threads1 implements Runnable { public void run(){ System.out.println(" * * * * * "); } public static void main(String[] args) {
[code]...
Java Code:
new Thread(new Threads1()).start(); mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
should execute the thread associated with the run() and then the control should return to the next statement in the calling thread (the thread from which the other thread (associated with run()) was called); isn't it?
I first time tried Java web service sample example using eclipse with axis2. First i wrote the provider class. Then by clicking create Web Service from the provider class It will show the following error "IWAB0014E Unexpected exception occurred." I have attached the screenshot for reference.
I am trying to write a program for converting positive binary inputs into hex. in the hex output the point (".")is missing.
Suppose my expected output is e7.6 , but i am getting e76
only the "." is missing.
here is my BinToHex class..
import java.io.*; public class BinToHex { double tempDec,fractionpart; long longofintpart,templongDec; String input ="11100111.011"; String hexOutput=null,tempDecString,hex = null; static int i = 1;
I'm trying to write data for three products to a random access file, but I have a problem. Each product has a code and a price. After writing them to my file, I want to get to the second field or product. I do this by getting the length for each record, and multiplying it by the field number I want to go to. I use the result for the seek() method of the RandomAccessFile object. It is giving me an EOFException, but when I use 0 for the seek method i get the data for the first poduct or field.
Java Code:
public static void main(String[] args) { final int RECORD_LENGTH = 16; try(RandomAccessFile productsOutput = new RandomAccessFile("C:UsersalfonsoDesktopBinaryTestRandom.ran", "rw")) { String[] codes = {"java", "jsps", "txtp"}; double[] prices = {49.5, 19.9, 29.9}; for(int i = 0; i < codes.length; i++) {
If I'm checking using an if statement if a file exists like so:
public boolean export(String envName,String fromFile,String toFile) { Vector<String> vector = new Vector<String>(); File file = new File(fromFile); if(file.exists() && file !=null) { return true; } return false;
If it returns true for existing then how would I do another if statement that would say if file returned true then check said file for an id. If Id exists extract all data associated with that id and store in Vector object. Would it be like this:
But the error is giving me incompatible types. I would like to set all the pixels at a certain point up to the dimensions of my rectangle and so on. How would I do that?
Using the concept of web service (SOAP), I need to have a web service running. The client page will pass an ID to the web service and in return the service will return some values retrieved from the database based on the ID passed, as output. The output so fetched has to be in XML format.
