Writing Output Of Two Different Java Class Files To One Txt File While Program Runs
Jul 20, 2013
So I am trying to write the output of two different java class files to one txt file while the program runs. The file name is determined before the program is ran, through the command prompt as arguments. How can I get the second class file to edit the same txt file without running into compile errors.
For right now I'm just going to send everything that the second file outputs to a message String variable, so that the Main class outputs to the the text file. I still want to learn how to write to the same text file directly from the second class file.
import java.io.*;
public class Test{
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException{
int x;
//create a new file internally called doc. But externally labelled the user input
File doc = new File(args[0]);
if (doc.exists()){
[Code] .....

I have recently revisited a program I wrote a few years ago, that runs absolutely fine in the console in Eclipse. However, when I export it as a Runnable Jar File, then open the file on my Desktop, nothing happens.How do I get the program to export so that when I open the file, a window opens that acts as the console (so the program can run in it)?

have to create a file named Lab13.txt. In the file I have 10 random numbers. I have to import the 10 numbers and have to Multiply all the numbers from Lab13.txt by 10 and save all the new numbers a new file named Lab13_scale.txt. so if the number 10 is in lab13.txt it prints 100 to Lab13_scale.txt. how do i get it to Multiply Here is what I have:
Java Code: import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
import java.io.PrintWriter;

User-defined classes. The concept of getters and setters goes right over my head. Right now we're to write a program to test the Person class below. We have to create 2 instances of the class to test each constructor, and test each method.
class Person {
// Data Members
private String name; // The name of this person
private int age; // The age of this person
private char gender; // The gender of this person
// Default constructor
public Person() {
this("Not Given", 0, 'U');
[code]....
then my output will print out the name. But the assignment doesn't tell us to modify the Person class at all, just to create a tester one.

I have written a program (DOM Parser) that parses data from a XMl File. I would like to create an individual file with the corresponding name for each set of data parsed from the xml document. If the parsed output is Single, Double, Triple, I would like to create an individual xml file (Single.xml, Double.xml, Triple.xml)with those corresponding names. How do I create the xml files and give each file the name of my parsed data output?
import java.io.IOException;
import javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder;
import javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory;
import javax.xml.parsers.ParserConfigurationException;

**Here is my question. I'm trying to use input and loop method to search for a file. The above code works but my problem is lets say I try to find 2 different text files**
1. billing-20140527[09].txt has
a)XGMS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
b)XGMS,2034-05-27 30:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
2. billing-20140527[10].txt has
a)XCGS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
b)HELO
I try to find the number 1 in both text files, if lets say I input the text file name is billing, I can find the number 1 in both text file and output them:
a) XGMS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
B)/> XCGS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
However, if I specify the text file name: billing-20140527[09].txt and find the number 1 inside the text file, it will only output:
a) XGMS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
How can I do so? Because I can output the number 1 from both text files even though I specify the name.

I'm writing a program to dynamically update an xml file to add, delete, and edit entries in the file. I've run into an issue with the add method because when I write into the file, a random letter is added before the line. EX:
I want to add "<item> ..." to the end of the list of entries, but when it is added, this is what is added "Z <item> ..."The spacing for the <item> is correct, however, I don't see where or why the Z is added.
public static void insertItem(Item i)
{
try {
String insert = " <item>";
String text = "";
Scanner in = new Scanner(file);
[code]....

I need to convert a .txt file to html text, where the first line is changed to have < h1 > < /h1 > around it and the rest is wrapped in < p > < /p > so for example I read a .txt file that says:
chapter 1
this is a sentence
it would output:
<h1>chapter 1</h1>
<p>this is a sentence</p>
here is what I have so far and I cannot get anything to output.
FileInputStream filestream;
BufferedReader reader;
FileOutputStream output;
String firstline;
String body = "<p>";
String line;

I have a little application that I made, it requires that I save data to a file in data/coins.cdp. When I run the application with java myProg in the terminal everything is correct, when I create the executable jar and run java -jar myJar.jar or ./myjar.jar everything also works. Even if I copy the jar to a different location, and run it through the terminal, it still works fine. Things get weird through when I copy the jar to a new location and double click on it, because then no folder gets created and no file is written.
Why is that?

p1.loadFromFile("Monitor.pr");
System.out.println("Actual: " + p1.toString());
System.out.println("Expected: Product [id=12345, name=Monitor, description=A freakin great monitor!]");
p1.setId(11111);
p1.setName("another product");
p1.setDescription("Description of another product!");
[code]....
The expected output is what my program should be doing and the actual output is what it's doing instead. As you can see, my code works for the middle test. But I cannot understand why it won't load the first fileFor the second half, the id and the quantity are separated by a comma... I'm not really sure how to deal with that. As you can see, I tried using a delimiter, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good.

I have printed the result of my program into an output file.
For some reason I can't figure out how to get the file output.txt to actually print.
I've tried printing it like I would normally print a file but it's not working.
Java Code:
final PrintStream console = System.out;
File file = new File("output.txt");
PrintStream out = new PrintStream(new FileOutputStream(file));
System.setOut(out);
System.out.println(collection.toString());
System.setOut(console);
What do I do after this? mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
