I'm trying to set a variable to point to the last full cell of an array and then create a new larger array and then have the variable be updated to point to the new array's last full cell index value.
a) Should the variable be declared static?
b) What would be the best initial value to set this variable to? Shouldn't it correspond to a <for> loop index rather than a solid integer?
private lastfullcell = a[i];
private int [] a;
c) How would you update <lastfullcell> because if you passed the index through a method's loop index isn't the array index value garbage collected after the method completes?

I am preparing a small solution. Below is how the functionality works.
1. Login Screen
2. Successful Login will take to a MDI Form
3. Click the menu, a JInternalFrame will open in the JDestopPane.
4. JInternalFrame has a JTable.
5. JInternalFrame has a JButton available for adding new data.
6. When JButton is clicked, a new JInternalFrame is popped up with some JTextField and JButton to save the data.
7. After saving the data (after insert query), a JDialog is opened to upload Logo (update query for BLOB), There are two buttons in the JDialog, one is for uploading the image, another one is uploading it later.
8. The logo is displayed in the JDialog and if the JButton, for upload is pressed, update the database and reload the JTable in the JInternalFrame is called.
My challenge is in point 8. The function is called properly, but the table is not getting refreshed.
JButton in JDialog for uploading the Logo
private void jButton1ActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
// TODO add your handling code here:
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "Image Uploaded Successfully");
companyConfig cc = new companyConfig();
//cc.reloadTable();
cc.updateTable();
this.dispose();

Here's what I would like to happen:
Java/Swing dialog box appears on the user's screenIt allows the user to enter 2 values into labelled text fields (fname/sname)They select a "Click Me" push button which I hope will write the data into the table. But the table does not get refreshed.
If I minimise the dialog box and then open it again, the data still does not appear.
The code I originally built using eclipse/WindowBuilder. I've cut it back and tried to isolate the issue. But I still cannot figure it out.
I've added some diagnostic log messages to ensure that I am seeing the various events I think I need to see and have put code in the action callbacks etc.
import java.awt.EventQueue;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
import javax.swing.border.EmptyBorder;
import java.awt.GridBagLayout;

After a transition of an object the UI is not fully updated. One can still see "lines" from the "movement". This only happens on Linux (Debian) and not on Windows. Is this a known issue that has been fixed in later Javafx releases ? I am still using Java7 because of WinXP support

get updated bean property in javascript function. This function I am calling from <a4j: commandbutton> this button is having actionListner, which is updatin bean property based on some User selection. When this action is completed then I am calling javascript function in oncomplete. But that javascript function is not taking updated bean value, it is always taking first value.I can't use hidden text as there are some drop downs which User will selct and then hit commandbutton which will update bean property.

Our company has a web based project which using the Jboss EAP 6.1 +EJB 3.1 + JSF2 and deployed it in a cluster environment(Server A,Server B and Server C).We have created some schedule tasks by using EJB timer service and the timer data file is stored in a central file system.And users can login and access to a task configuration page to customise his own tasks by create,update,delete actions etc.But we find that the timers don't work correctly in the cluster environment.
For example.When we start the Servers(A,B,C),each server will load the timer file data into his own node cache from the central file system.But when one user go to the task configuration page to update or delete his own tasks from one of the Servers, it only update the change on its own node cache and don't replicate the timer data to other nodes' cache and which cause the problem.
I know there is one way to fix it is that we could shutdown the three Servers and re-boot them and the timer data file will be re-loaded into each server's cache. But we can't do that because the users want their own created/updated tasks take effect immediately once they change them.My question is that when the timer data in cache is updated on one server, how to make it synchronize to the other Servers'.

I have a swing application that gets football scores from a website using Jsoup.
When the "Get Scores" button is pressed, the scores are printed to a JTextArea with a JScrollPane.
I have also used a SwingWorker to update the scores every couple of seconds.
My problem is that every time the JTextArea updates, the JScrollPane scrolls back to the top of the text area. I wan the scroll bar to stay where the user left it.
Here is my code (The update is currently set to update every 1 second so you can see what the scroll bar is like).

Is there a way to inform the Entity Manager or force the JPA provider to reload data from the database? The scenario could be data being updated by a store procedure or direct SQLPlus maintenance, without restarting the Application Server, the JPA need to load the newly updated data from the database.
I think the current JPA API is not enough. The void refresh(java.lang.Object entity) from EntityManager need to pass in the Entity object, I will like to know how to refresh the entire JPA Entity data after the physical table data being update from backend.

I am developing a e-commerce college project, here i add the items in the cart(a div tag in the jsp page) via servlet by creating sessions,
flow control: shopping jsp (when user wants to add an item in the cart) --> item servlet (which is used to create session and synchronized it) --> cart servlet(which is used to add items in the arraylist and show them in the shopping.jsp's div tag + it also sets the total purchase amount in the session variable "totalpurchase")
now after that user wants to proceed to checkout, here i use the onclick event to check the minimumshopping amount must be less than the totalpurchase (totalpurchase which i had setted in the session),but my jsp page is unable to rechognise the updated value of the totalpurchase, yes, if i reload the page, it rechognises the new updated value of the totalpurchase? but i want it to rechognise the updated total purchase value, without reloading he jsp page..

So I need to generate 10 random integers in the range 1-20 but i have to store them in an array called numbers. Then I have to call a method called displayArray which displays the contents of the array and for the assignment i have to use a for loop to traverse the array. The method header for the displayArray method is:
public static void displayArray(int[] array)
This is what I have done
public class RandomIntegers {
static int numbers = 0;
public static void displayArray(int[] array) {
System.out.println(numbers + "Numbers Generated");

I am taking the Class Algorithms and Datastructures and got an assignment for Lab that really throws me off. The goal is to create an Array out of a given CSV file, implement several Methods that get the size of array, etc.
I am still stuck in the first part where the CSV has to be imported into the Array. My problem is that I need a mechanism that figures out the needed size for the Array, creates the array, and only then transfers the data from the CSV.
The list consists of the following wifi related values:
MAC-Adress, SSID, Timestamp, Signalstrength.
These are on the list, separated by comma. The Columns are each of these, and the rows are the four types of values making up the information on a certain wifi network.
The catch is, we are not allowed to use any of the following:
java.util.ArrayList
java.util.Arrays
and any class out of java.util.Collection.
So far I used the BufferedReader to read in the file and tried to implement the array, but I get an arrayindexoutofboundsexception.
Below is my Code (Its still an active construction zone):
public class WhatsThere {
public WhatsThere(String wifiscan) throws IOException {
}
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
// WhatsThere Liste = new WhatsThere(String wifiscan);
String[][] arrayListe = new String[0][0];

I am working on a problem where i have to create a 2d array with given input of the dimensions (odd number) of array, along with a number within the array and to then print out all of the numbers surrounding that number.
Anyway, i am working on simply making the spiral, which should look like the one below.
n = 3
7 8 9
6 1 2
5 4 3
where the 1 always starts in the center with the 2 going to the right, 3 down, then left etc. etc. I was able to create the code by starting on the outer edges rather than the center and working my way to the middle, however my code always starts from the top left and goes around to the center where it needs to start from the top right. I am having trouble altering my code to meet this criteria. This is what i have thus far.
import java.io.*;
public class Spiral
{
public static void main(String args[])throws IOException
{
BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));

int n=Integer.parseInt(br.readLine());

I have the following code in which I am looping through the rows of one array (composed of Strings) and copying it to another array. I am using .clone() to achieve this and it seems work as it changes the memory location of the rows themselves. I did notice that the String objects are still pointing to the same location in memory in both arrays but I won't worry about that for now, at the moment I just want to understand why the array I am cloning is not successfully assigning to the other array.
This is the incorrect line: ar[r] = maze[r].clone();
My code:
private String[][] maze = {{"*","*","*"," ","*","*","*","*","*","*"},
{"*"," ", "*"," "," "," ","*"," ","*","*"},
{"*"," ","*","*","*"," ","*"," ","*","*"},
{"*"," "," "," "," "," "," "," "," ","*"},
{"*","*","*","*","*"," ","*","*","*","*"},
{"*","*","*","*","*"," ","*","*","*","*"}};
//private String[][] mazeCopy = copyMaze(new String[6][10]);
private <T> T[][] copyMaze(T[][] ar){
for (int r = 0; r < ar.length; r++){
ar[r] = maze[r].clone();
}
return ar;
}
My compiler says: Required: T[]. Found: java.lang.String[]
Since ar[r] is an array and .clone() also returns an array why is this line incorrect.

I am receiving an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException for the following code, which moves a creature through a 2D array maze. I have altered the clauses of the first if statement for the four direct methods (north, south, east, and west) multiple times (i.e. x + 1 >= 0 && x > 0 && x - 1 > 0 && x < array.length...etc). However, while the code occasionally runs, more often than that it returns this exception. Catching the exception seems like a poor workaround though if worst comes to worst I'll do that.
I included only the relevant functions of the code:
public boolean goNorth(char[][] array) {
boolean success = true;;
x = getX();
//x = this.x;
y = getY();
//y = this.y;
if ((x - 1 >= 0 && x - 1 < array.length)
&& (y >= 0 && y < array[x].length)) {

So I have this stack. I'm writing out all the operations and what not but I'm having trouble bypassing this "generic array creation" problem. I'm meant to be creating an array based implementation of a stack and from my research from google and my various attempts at things, I have not found a solution that works.
In addition; I have all the operations written that I need except for one final one. And that is clear(). clear() is meant to empty the array, essentially it is a popAll() method. Then all I need to do is set up so I can print out the arrays and I should be able to handle everything else.
StackInterface:
/**
An interface for the ADT stack.
*/
public interface StackInterface<T>
{
/** Adds a new entry to the top of this stack.
@param newEntry an object to be added to the stack */
public void push(T newEntry);
/** Removes and returns this stackÕs top entry.
@return either the object at the top of the stack or, if the stack is empty before the operation, null
*/
public T pop();

filling out a Random array: An Array of Specific Length Filled with Random Numbers This time what I need to do is take the elements from this Random array and assign them to a new Byte array:
for(int i = 0; i < limit-10; i++) {
Random dice = new Random();
int randomIndex = dice.nextInt(array.length);
if (array[randomIndex] < 128) {
System.out.print(array[randomIndex] + " ");
} else if (array[randomIndex] >= 128) {
System.out.print(array[i] + " ");
}
}
byte[] noteValues = new byte[]
{ 64, 69, 72, 71, 64, 71, 74, 72, 76, 68, 76 }; //This is the byte array filled manually!
I've tried amending the manual input to fit in with the Random array, as follows:
byte[] noteValues = new byte[]
{ array[randomIndex] };
In this case, however, the Byte array can't interpret the int values. Also, if the Byte array is outside the 'for' loop, array[randomIndex] cannot be resolved.

I have double checked this code over and over and I just can't find the problem.
What I'm trying to do is take a file and input it into an 2D array.
Ultimately, I should convert the array of integers to an array of characters, then print it out. The file contains a set of ASCII values.
After printing it out, I should then create methods to manipulate the image produced.
Using 2D arrays is a requirement for this exercise.
I think that somehow I'm overcomplicating this and the solution is a lot more simple than I think, but I can't think of what to change.
The error I am getting is:

I have an array of Strings, one on each line and I need to convert them into an array of char's.
For Example:
This
is
an
Example
of
what
my
input
is.
In order to accomplish that I did the following-
String[] lotsOfText = a.gettingAnArrayAsAReturn();
char [][] myCharArray = new char [lotsOfText.length] [lotsOfText.length];
for(int i=0; i<lotsOfText.length; i++){
for(int j=0;j<lotsOfText[i].length();j++){
myCharArray[i][j] = lotsOfText[j].charAt(j); }}
But whenever I try this and then try to print the output :
for (int i = 0; i < lotsOfText.length; i++) {
for (int j = 0; j < lotsOfText[i].length(); j++) {
System.out.print(myCharArray[i][j]);
}
}
I get nothing. I'm not sure what's the flaw in my logic, is it the char array initialization that's wrong or is it something else ?
