File Transfer In Java Using Sockets

Apr 8, 2014

I have written a java code to transfer files from one server to another using the concept of socket programming. I got the codes from another java forum that meet my requirements. The program is said to transfer large sized files (like .mkv , .mprg movies) from one machine to another and can be used to transfer files of all formats. But after running the codes I found that the program is not able to transfer large sized files such as movies and even pdf of sizes 80mb or 111mb. When i transfer small sized files, it gets transferred and the output shows that. You can run the codes and observe it. But when i try to transfer large sized files, the program goes on running for hours. The large sized files are not getting transferred. The program has used bytebuffer but still this error occurs.

**ClientMain.java**
import java.io.IOException;
import java.net.Socket;
public class ClientMain

[code]....

Note that:-

1. ClientMain.java and DirectoryTxr.java are the two classes under client application.
2. ServerMain.java and DirectoryRcr.java are the two classes under Server application.
3. run the ClientMain.java and ServerMain.java simultaneously

Also specify the source directory, destination directory and host address of the machine in which server is running in the ClientMain.java(as per your computer). Here we are not specifying source file ,instead a source directory or folder is specifying.So the entire files of source directory will be transferred.

Bank Account - Balance Must Be A Floating Point Number

Sep 21, 2014

Develop the class “Account” to be used by a bank. The Account class should have a single instance variable “balance”. Remember that balance must be a floating point number. The required methods for the Account class are shown below.

The Account class “debit” method should return a Boolean and should not allow an overdraft. If a withdraw greater than the current balance is attempted, the function should immediately return “false” and do nothing else.

Develop a test class to thoroughly test all aspects of the Account class. DO NOT change the class name or instance variable name given or the required method names as detailed below.

Account
1 constructor with no parameters (default balance to 0)
1 constructor with a balance parameter
setBalance method
getBalance method
credit method
debit method

I have the test class done, I won't need to put that in till later. My main problem is I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to get debit and setBalance to work together with each other.

public class Account
{
protected double balance;
// Constructor to initialize balance
public Account( double amount ) {
balance = amount;

[Code] ....

You can see I'm stressed out by not reading over my code. I already have the "Debit" in use, just have to change it. Which I did.

Floating Point Numbers - Print Contents Of Array In Reverse Order

Feb 27, 2014

I am trying to do this assignment but I can't get the needed output.

Create a program that asks the user how many floating point numbers he wants to give. After this the program asks the numbers, stores them in an array and prints the contents of the array in reverse order.

Program is written to a class called ReverseNumbers.

Example output

How many floating point numbers do you want to type: 5

Type in 1. number: 5,4
Type in 2. number: 6
Type in 3. number: 7,2
Type in 4. number: -5
Type in 5. number: 2

Given numbers in reverse order:

2.0
-5.0
7.2
6.0
5.4

Java Code:

import java.util.Scanner;
public class apples {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner reader = new Scanner(System.in);
double[] numbers;

Transfer Random Array Values To A Separate Array?

Feb 16, 2015

filling out a Random array: An Array of Specific Length Filled with Random Numbers This time what I need to do is take the elements from this Random array and assign them to a new Byte array:

for(int i = 0; i < limit-10; i++) {
Random dice = new Random();
int randomIndex = dice.nextInt(array.length);
if (array[randomIndex] < 128) {
System.out.print(array[randomIndex] + " ");
} else if (array[randomIndex] >= 128) {
System.out.print(array[i] + " ");
}

byte[] noteValues = new byte[]

{ 64, 69, 72, 71, 64, 71, 74, 72, 76, 68, 76 }; //This is the byte array filled manually!

I've tried amending the manual input to fit in with the Random array, as follows:

byte[] noteValues = new byte[]
{ array[randomIndex] };

In this case, however, the Byte array can't interpret the int values. Also, if the Byte array is outside the 'for' loop, array[randomIndex] cannot be resolved.

Create 2D Array Out Of CSV File And Find Number Of Elements To Determine Array Size

Mar 24, 2015

I am taking the Class Algorithms and Datastructures and got an assignment for Lab that really throws me off. The goal is to create an Array out of a given CSV file, implement several Methods that get the size of array, etc.

I am still stuck in the first part where the CSV has to be imported into the Array. My problem is that I need a mechanism that figures out the needed size for the Array, creates the array, and only then transfers the data from the CSV.

The list consists of the following wifi related values:

MAC-Adress, SSID, Timestamp, Signalstrength.

These are on the list, separated by comma. The Columns are each of these, and the rows are the four types of values making up the information on a certain wifi network.

The catch is, we are not allowed to use any of the following:

java.util.ArrayList
java.util.Arrays
and any class out of java.util.Collection.

So far I used the BufferedReader to read in the file and tried to implement the array, but I get an arrayindexoutofboundsexception.

Below is my Code (Its still an active construction zone):

public class WhatsThere {
public WhatsThere(String wifiscan) throws IOException {
}
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
// WhatsThere Liste = new WhatsThere(String wifiscan);
String[][] arrayListe = new String[0][0];

Matrix Algebra - Number Of Rows And Columns

Mar 19, 2015

I am continuing on in trying to build up the basics of matrix algebra from scratch.

I have created an object class called Matrix

import java.util.ArrayList;
public class Matrix {
public int NumRows;
public int NumColumns;

// This array contains the entries of our matrix.
ArrayList<Double> entry = new ArrayList<Double>();

[Code] ......

Bottom line: a matrix has a number of rows and a number of columns, and for each pair of row and column, we have a number in our matrix. The DisplayMatrix method prints my matrix to the screen, and the GetEntry method returns a particular value. This all works fine and dandy as far as I can tell.

A fundamental operation done to matrices to obtain a special matrix called the RREF is the process of switching 2 rows. Here is a method I have written that switches two rows of a matrix, and outputs the result as a new matrix. Note that I want the original matrix to be unchanged.

// Switch two rows
public static Matrix SwapRows(Matrix A, int r1, int r2){
if(r1<1 || r1>A.NumRows || r2<1 || r2>A.NumRows)
PRINTLN("illegally switching rows");
Matrix C = A;
double dummy[] = new double[A.NumColumns];

[Code] ....

How I call this, inside a public static void main(String[] args), is as follows:

// Declares that A is a 2 by 2 matrix.
Matrix A = new Matrix(2,2);

// We now add values in. The top left entry of A is 4, the top right entry of A is 1, the bottom left entry of A is 2, and the bottom right entry of A is 6.

double pony[]= new double[4];
pony[0]=4;
pony[1]=1;
pony[2]=2;
pony[3]=6;
A.AddEntries(pony);

// We can display the matrix in the output, and it looks exactly as expected!

A.DisplayMatrix();

// I am now going to create a new matrix called B. It is going to be obtained by flipping the first and second rows of A.

//Note that I want A is stay as I initialized it.

//I dont want A to have it's 2 rows switched. I want B to the matrix obtained by switching two rows of A.

Matrix B=SwapRows(A,1,2);
B.DisplayMatrix();

// Displaying B gives me the desired result. However, if I now display A again, it is the same as B.

A.DisplayMatrix();

Why is my matrix A being modified? Of course, I am more than capable of providing more details/comments if requested. I suspect that this is a super silly mistake.

Java Number Spiral - Creating 2D Array With Given Input Of Dimensions Of Array

Aug 3, 2014

I am working on a problem where i have to create a 2d array with given input of the dimensions (odd number) of array, along with a number within the array and to then print out all of the numbers surrounding that number.

Anyway, i am working on simply making the spiral, which should look like the one below.

n = 3

7 8 9
6 1 2
5 4 3

where the 1 always starts in the center with the 2 going to the right, 3 down, then left etc. etc. I was able to create the code by starting on the outer edges rather than the center and working my way to the middle, however my code always starts from the top left and goes around to the center where it needs to start from the top right. I am having trouble altering my code to meet this criteria. This is what i have thus far.

import java.io.*;
public class Spiral
{
public static void main(String args[])throws IOException
{
BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
System.out.print("Enter the number of elements : ");
int n=Integer.parseInt(br.readLine());

An Error Occurred While Shelling Out To Javac - Matlab

Jan 26, 2015

I am trying to extract a jar file from Matlab code using javac from Library Compiler (java package).

I have set JAVA_HOME to:

Java Code:

C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.0_11 mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

and added to PATH:

Java Code:

C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.0_11bin. mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

When I enter java -version in my console, I get java version jdk1.7.0_11 and running javac -version shows jdk1.7.0_11.

However, it seems that matlab could not find javac, thus, I am not able to compile my .m code into a .jar file. When I tried to compile .m code I got the following:

Java Code:

Error: An error occurred while shelling out to javac (error code = -1).
Unable to build executable.
Executing command: ""C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.0_11binjavac" mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

This is the directory of my java bin folder and javac.exe exists : CProgram FilesJavajdk1.7.0_11binjavac.exe? What should I check in order to correctly link Matlab to Java?

2D Array Computation - Performing Certain Matrix Calculations

Apr 22, 2015

I've created several methods in another class to perform certain matrix calculations. Do I need to have mutator method in this calculation class to define the column length of the matrix object? I understand why the following code is not working, but I was hoping to get a quick and easy workaround. I'm not sure how to initialize the size of the column for newMatrix within the method.

public int [][] sum(int matrixOne[][], int matrixTwo[][]) {
int sumMatrix [][] = new int[matrixOne.length]["WHAT TO PUT HERE"];
for (int i = 0; i < matrixOne.length; i++) {
for (int j = 0; j < matrixOne[i].length; j++) {
sumMatrix[i][j] = matrixOne[i][j] + matrixTwo[i][j];
System.out.println("matrixSum" + sumMatrix[i][j]);
}
}
return sumMatrix;
}

Then I will use this method to print the new matrix:

public void printMatrix(int newMatrix [][]) {
for (int i = 0; i < newMatrix.length; i++) {
for (int j = 0; j < newMatrix[i].length; j++) {
System.out.print(newMatrix[i][j] + " ");
}
System.out.println("");
}
}

Is all of this overkill and should I just define all the methods within the same class to avoid these issues?
