Check IsEnabled In ArrayList Of JTextFields And Get Text
Oct 9, 2014
I have an ArrayList of JTextFields in a CAMSetup1 class that contains a bunch of named JTextFields: Layer_textField_1, Layer_textField_2, Layer_textField_3, ... etc
I would like to check the .isEnabled status of a particular JTextField in that ArrayList from my main class by passing the name of the JTextField to a method in the CAMSetup1 class as a string
The peice of code calling the method from the main class is something like this:
if (CAMSetup1.getFieldEnabledStatus("Layer_textField_1") == true) {
data.writeToFile(CAMSetup1.getFieldText("Layer_textField_2") + " LAYER 2 LIST FILE
");
}
The method for checking the .isEnabled that I have so far is:
public boolean getFieldEnabledStatus(String textFieldname) {
boolean status = false;
//<need code here>
return status;
}
I have made a window using JFrame and on my JPanel I have added 3 components: 2 JTextFields ("field1" and "field2") and inbetween them a JButton ("switch"). My goal is to switch the value of field1 to field2 and vice versa when the JButton is clicked. I thought this ActionListener which I have added to my JButton would achieve my goal:
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { field2.setText(field1.getText()); field1.setText(field2.getText()); }
However, it changes the value of field2 into the value of field1 but not the other way around.
How could I check if an index is exist in an array list? I mean, I should enter an integer and it should return me a boolean result that saying whether if that entered value is an index or not.
I am making a function to search through the whole inventory to see if any of the Lamborghini object has a certain model name such as aventador, diablo, etc....
This is what I have but I figured there's a big mistake when I make it true / false; it's making it going through the list and what's return is the last one instead of saying there's such match in the whole list or not.
public boolean hasCarModel(String modelName){ boolean exist = false; for (Lamborghini lambo : inventory){ String carModelName = lambo.getModelName(); if(carModelName.equalsIgnoreCase(modelName)){
[Code] ....
I figured if I add break; under exist = true; it'll work because as soon as it found one match then it'll turn to true and break out the loop but I don't think this is the best way to do it right?
I wanna learn to create a method where I use a scanner or any other way to input.The stuffs I input will be strings. The whole thing will be like a destination creator.So if I input the string USA, it will write this to a file:
1:USA
When I go to the method again the ID will be added so if I input UK, the file will contain:
1:USA 2:UK
Now if I terminate the program, next time when I run it again it will be able to read the ArrayList, so if I wanna go to the method again and write: Norway the file will contain:
1:USA 2:UK 3:Norway
Later I also want to be able to use println to show all of these lines from the file, as well I would like to be able to delete an ID, so if I delete ID 2 the file would contain:
1:USA 3:Norway
I'm quite new to Java, I'm in a Java course since soon 3 weeks back and I have sure learned a lot, all the loops and basic statements that exist in most languages, but now when it comes to this I just don't understand.
The initial output of the texfile is this. NO ARRAYLIST OR COMPARATOR IS ALLOWED:
Steve Jobs 9 f 91 Bill Gates 6 m 90 James Gosling 3 m 100 James Gosling 3 f 100 Dennis Ritchie 5 m 94 Steve Jobs 9 m 95 Dennis Ritchie 5 f 100 Jeff Dean 7 m 100 Bill Gates 6 f 96 Jeff Dean 7 f 100 Sergey Brin 27 f 97 Sergey Brin 22 m 98
The collateExams method collates/sorts exam objects starting with the first 'm' (midterm) of the first object and immediately followed by the same person's 'f'(final). Only a SINGLE loop construct is allowed. The output from collateExams() should be the one below but my code is not working, i.e. collateExams method is not working. The output from collateExams() should be
Bill Gates 6 m 90 Bill Gates 6 f 96 James Gosling 3 m 100 James Gosling 3 f 100 Dennis Ritchie 5 m 94 Dennis Ritchie 5 f 100 Steve Jobs 9 m 95 Steve Jobs 9 f 91 Jeff Dean 7 m 100 Jeff Dean 7 f 100 Sergey Brin 22 m 98 Sergey Brin 27 f 97
I am getting [b]NullExceptions[/b] at
r[2*position[exams[i].getID()]+1] = new Exam(r[i].getFirstName(), r[i].getLastName(), r[i].getID(), r[i].getExamType(), r[i].getScore());
I am advised to use a while loop the Scanner method hasNextLine() and in the while loop body, call the Scanner method nextLine(), and add the returned String to the ArrayList of Strings. what I have gotten so far:
Scanner input = new Scanner(new File("")); while(input.hasNextLine()) { String line = input.nextLine(); System.out.println(line);
I am making a Sudoku game and creating a matrix of JTextFields. However I am getting the following errors
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at SudokuView.board(SudokuView.java:30) at SudokuView.<init>(SudokuView.java:18) at SudokuMain.main(SudokuMain.java:5)
I know the problem is with this code
box[i][j] = new JTextField(); panel.add(box[i][j]);
I know this because when I do this:
panel.add(new JTextField());
It works. However it puzzles me why it is not working.
Whole Code:
import java.awt.GridLayout; import javax.swing.*; public class SudokuView { JFrame frame; JPanel panelBoard; JTextField[][] box; int row=10; int col=10; SudokuView(){ frame = new JFrame("Play Sudoku GOOD LUCK");
Here's My code to create multiple JTextfields in a Single Option Pane.
My goal is simple.
Take some input from the user and then store it a TEXT File.
package printer; import java.awt.Toolkit; import java.io.BufferedWriter; import java.io.FileWriter; import java.io.IOException; import javax.swing.*; public class Database { JTextField name = new JTextField(); JTextField roll = new JTextField();
I was assigned to create a program that opens up a window that asked the user for an input of 0-10. This input will create three windows with the correct number of rows and columns of JTextFields in the form of a matrix. the third window has a button that adds the two matrices (which also take user input) and adds them together and prints them in the correct matrix fields. I am having trouble declaring the 2d array from the user input and creating the windows with the correct amount of jtextfields to move on with my program.
I need to create a JFrame with a user given amount of text fields in the form of a matrix. Say the user inputs 5 rows and 5 columns, I need to read those ints and create a 5 by 5 box of JTextFields in matrix form (i.e. 25 total text boxes in the form of a box). Here is some of the code I have been trying to use to do this...
int x = 10; int y = 10; for(int i = 0; i<rowSize; i++){ y= y+40; for(int k =0; k<colSize; k++) { newField = new JTextField("0"); newField.setBounds(x,y,40,20); win2.add(newField,0); win2.repaint(); x= x+60; } }
In order to go through the loop a given amount of times and create that amount of text fields in the correct places.Am I even close to doing this right?? Cuz I can't get the text fields to even show up on my window.
I am trying to create an event handler for two JTextFields to only allow numerical input. It consumes all letter but for some reason the "n" key still gets through. I have the spaghetti code below.
public void keyTyped(KeyEvent in) { char input = in.getKeyChar(); if (in.getSource() == scaleField){ if (!(Character.isDigit(input) || (input==KeyEvent.VK_BACK_SPACE) ||
Code given below does real time validation for 2 JTextFields. While entering some values to txt1 and txt2 enables the save button and removing values from txt2 or txt1 reset the save button to disable. I use Netbeans as IDE.What I want to do is, enable Save button after checking multiple JTextFields for validity. If any of the text fields is empty, btnSave must be disabled.This program gives expected result up to some extent. But there is little issue. After form appears for the first time, When I type something on Textfield1, Save button enables without checking Textfield2. This happens only at the first time.
public class NewJFrame extends javax.swing.JFrame { private Boolean isValidFromTextField1 = true; private Boolean isValidFromTextField2 = true; public NewJFrame() { initComponents(); btnSave.setEnabled(false);
I am working on my second javafx program and I am getting confused. The program that I am writing is a payroll calculator. A secondary window opens at the start of the program where the user first enters the number of employees and clicks submit to save the number and to close this window. Then, the user begins to enters the employee information (first name, last name, pay rate and hours worked) when the user clicks the NextEmp button, I want the data in the text fields to be entered into arrays for later use, then clear the fields for the next use. I am running into 2 issues. The first is the close event for the secondary window that pops up. I cannot figure out the syntax. The second issue that I am running into is the loop to store the data into the arrays. I believe I am getting the text field data correctly, but I cannot figure out how to stop the loop until the NextEmp button is pressed again.
This is the code that I wrote but I have two problem with two buttons one of them ... I want to delete the selected text inside the text Area which represented as b[8] and the other button that I want to select parts of the texts which represented as b[0]....
01. pickup the selected text file and read the line by line and output the text in to visual text pane.
what i did:.
01. I wrote code that read the text file and output in to jave console/ also some of the interface.
the code read txt file:
Java Code:
String fileName = "C:/Users/lakshan/Desktop/lawyer.txt"; File textFile = new File(fileName); Scanner in = new Scanner (textFile); while(in.hasNextLine()){
[code]....
so it will read any text file dynamically and output to the text pane in interface. I think scanner code must be execute after the select the file from the browser and set the scanned result in to variable. then later out put the var as string in some jswing component?
I am having trouble figuring out how to check for win in tic tac toe, the way my teacher wants it is with various if statements but im not sure what to put in the parentheses. I think it would be something like
I have stumbled onto a problem with ArrayLists (not sure if nested ArrayList objects would be a more accurate description) ....
As simply put as I can describe it, I have an Inventory class which creates an ArrayList of a Product superclass, which has two subclasses, PerishableProduct and ItemisedProduct.
By default, the program is meant to have a starting inventory, which is why I have added them in the constructor
public class Inventory { private List<Product> products; public Inventory() { addProduct(new Product("Frying pan", 15, 20)); addProduct(new PerishableProduct("Apple", 5.8, 30, 7)); addProduct(new ItemisedProduct("Cereal", 5.8, 0)); // this is where I am having problems. Wanting to add // objects to the ItemisedProduct's ArrayList for cereal. }
Within the ItemisedProduct subclass is yet another ArrayList which is meant to hold serial numbers.
public class ItemisedProduct extends Product { private ArrayList<String> serialNumbers = new ArrayList(); public ItemisedProduct(String name, double price, int qty) { super(name, price, qty)
[Code] .....
My problem is that I do not know how to populate the serialNumbers ArrayList from the Inventory class' constructor. Because technically, quantity is defined by how many serial numbers are created.
I'm supposed to write a GUI application letting the user enter a file on the text field and display its hex representation in a text area and vice versa.
Here's my code:
/* * To change this license header, choose License Headers in Project Properties. * To change this template file, choose Tools | Templates * and open the template in the editor. */ package hexconvertor; import java.util.*; import java.io.*; public class HexConvertor extends javax.swing.JFrame {
I have a textField in which I have text in. The text is enter customer name. I would like for this text to disappear whenever the user clicks on the textField to enter a customer name. I am using the automated swing gui builder in NetBeans. Is their some sort of feature for this under properties of the text field? If not then what are my other options?
