Client Server Output Console Sharing Eclipse

Jan 22, 2014

I took an example from here on client server sockets: Complete Java Networking Explained with Simple Examples - Go4Expert and placed it in separate classes and had a single main to run it both a server then the client.It seems ok but I cannot have the console outputs sharing the same console.

I start the server first and this takes precedence and the client will not output to console unless I stop the restart the app after commenting out the server startup as its already running, then eclipse gives me 2 consoles I can move between Is it possible to have both client and server share output console?

Debugging Client-server Program In Eclipse

Sep 27, 2014

I've been provided a code skeleton for what must be done, but despite my best efforts to make things work, I'm coming up dry (obviously, due to a lack of knowledge.) One thing that might work is if I knew how to debug this type of application, line-by-line, to see exactly what is going on. Obviously, it's easy enough to debug the client part, but moving over to the server part, I haven't been able to figure that out (I'm using Eclipse.)

Anyways, here's the code I've got so far:

Client.java:
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;

Exporting A Java Program From Eclipse That Only Runs In Console

I have recently revisited a program I wrote a few years ago, that runs absolutely fine in the console in Eclipse. However, when I export it as a Runnable Jar File, then open the file on my Desktop, nothing happens.How do I get the program to export so that when I open the file, a window opens that acts as the console (so the program can run in it)?

ProcessBulider Output To Console

Mar 10, 2014

I have written a shell script which connects to oracle database and performs operation and returns some output message. Script works fine from command prompt. My requirement is to make it run from a web page which I have accomplished. I am getting the output of shell script on a different web page defined by HTML form action in my jsp file. Everything is working fine.

Below is the part of java class I have written:

=============
String fileName = "build_"+ request.getParameter("region");
String arg1 = request.getParameter("release");
String arg2 = request.getParameter("email");
ProcessBuilder pb = new ProcessBuilder(fileName,arg1,arg2);
Process p = pb.start();
InputStream inputStream = p.getInputStream();

[Code] ....

As shown above, my shell script accepts 2 arguements . User enters arguements in the fields provided which are passed to shell script by processbuilder. Script runs successfully and displays output [ success/error ].

But my problem is , the shell script takes nearly 1 hour to do its job in the database and untill then my web page keeps showing as busy. Whereas in command prompt, shell script displays messages as it runs and thus keeps the end user informed about its progress. However, when called from java it waits untill the shell script completes/terminates and finally displays all the messages at once. I want to know if there is a way to display the shell script output on web page as it continues to run in the background ( child process ).

I tried without the waitFor() function but no luck. It still waits for shell script to exit before displaying any message.

Formatting Tables For Console Output?

Apr 13, 2014

I am writing a class which formats console output as a table. It displays the type of an entry, the name of an entry, and the data for an entry. I am stuck on a required for loop which appends a tab character to a string, for formatting it as a table. It doesn't seem to be adding any of the tabs and I can't tell what I've done wrong. As far as I can tell the contents of the loop are never reached, and I can't make sense of it.

The ConsoleWriter class that contains the code that is in error...

Java Code:

package frontend;
public class ConsoleWriter {
private static String tabbedData(String data, int min) {
System.out.println(); //for debug
int tabcount = 0;
int len=8*min;

Testing TCP Client And Server

Oct 22, 2014

I am attempting to test a TCP Client and Server for an assignment I am doing in class. The goal here is to "test your client and Server applications by transferring (i) a file having 10,000+ lines (see supplied big-file1.txt having 12000+ lines), (ii) a file having 20,000+ lines (you may create one of your own from big-file1.txt, or obtain a large size file from the Google website at [URL] ...). Then, compute and display the total transfer time of the files at both of the sides separately (your choice in millisecond/second)."

I have created the TCPClient and TCPServer java classes, ran the server first and then the client, and using mathematical formulas to calculate the transfer time. Trouble is, I'm having trouble testing the client and server in the file area and not the area where I had to input a line, let the server print it, and then have the client eliminate the articles from the line. I need testing the file. Here is my code so far:

TCPClient:

package tcpclient;
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
public class TCPClient {
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException{
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
String sentence;

[code] ....

How to fix the code so that the time in seconds does not output as 60 for both files and that the files go through the exchange?

Sending Message From One Client To Another Via Server?

Apr 2, 2014

I've just recently started playing around with network programming in Java, and I've come up with a simplistic server than can handle multiple clients and return the IP and port each one is connected to (or I'm under the impression that is so). What I've been requested to do as an exercise by one of the programming teachers at my high school (I'm not in a class, this is my own time) is send a message from one client to the other through the ServerSocket so that it may "watch" everything going on. I'm not sure how to go about this at all.

EDIT : now it never seems to go the the else or else if statements...

That is now the main problem. It never, ever, goes past the first if statement, no matter what it is.

EDIT : Okay, I haven't changed a line of code but suddenly not a single if statement is working. They just stopped. The client simply hangs and I can't type anything.

Server

public class Server implements Runnable {
Socket clientSocket;
Server(Socket clientSocket) {
this.clientSocket = clientSocket;
}
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
ServerSocket ssock = new ServerSocket(3480);
System.out.println("Listening on port 3480");

[code]....

RMI / How Can Client Send A Message To Server

Sep 3, 2014

RMIInterface
interface RMIInterface {
public String getMessage(String text) throws RemoteException;
}
RMIClient
public class RMIClient {

[code]....

With this program I can connect to a Server with a Client, and print in Client console a message.But, how can I send message from a client to a server, and print that message in server console output?

make the simpliest example with sending a message to a server, edit inteface header code to public interface RMIInterface extends Remote, I forgot to add.

Client Info On Server Side
