Feb 11, 2015
I am new in java. I executed a java program using eclipse. the program contain two java file. when i try to run it using terminal in Ubuntu. Two files are not linking. it shows error. i am attaching all the data.
It shows the following error
regex2string.java:83: error: cannot find symbol
str = randomstr.nextString(2000);

symbol: variable randomstr
location: class regex2string

I am trying to build and IDE for NASM in Java for Ubuntu. There are other IDE's for NASM but they are in C or C++. So i thought i should try making one in Java. Well I am done with the GUI part.
How should i link the NASM compiler to the IDE. Or There is another way like "DEV C++ IDE" does in Windows is that it invokes the CMD and runs it in that so i could try doing something like that by invoking the TERMINAL in Ubuntu and running it in that. Does java have an API for this purpose.
From java running on Windows, I need to access a file on a remote Ubuntu machine. I use the following:
URL U = new URL ( "http://" + SERVER_IP + ":" + SERVER_PORT + "/" + ClsName + ".class" );
where:
SERVER_IP is the Ubuntu IP address obtained from any site that shows the IP address of the machine you are using.SERVER_PORT is the Ubuntu port where the server is listening.
Now:
Do I need to modify this code any further?Do I need to configure the Windows and/or Ubuntu machine(s) for this to work?
I made a web app to test the ServletContextListener in tomcat according to the book head first servlets and jsps and used the code
out.println("test context attributes set by listener<br>"); Dog dog = (Dog) getServletContext().getAttribute("dog"); out.println("Dog's breed is: "+dog.getBreed());
in the listener class.But the output is showing the first line only and the second println() is not showing any output whereas my Dog class compiled successfully and I didn't see any NullPointerException as expected in the book but somehow it seems like the problem is in the 2nd line of code only but I don't know what.
I also tried to add a 4th line at the end with println() only but with a simple text even that is not running but when I put that same line after the 1st line, the output is shown.I am unable to see what has gone wrong in the 2nd line of code.
I have developed a Java GUI by using Netbean. The user interface will get the user parameters that are needed by a c++ program (which I also developed). Upon clicking the run button java will execute the c++ program with the inserted parameters by launching and X-term session (using Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command) ) . Everything works fine in this way. However I do not find very elegant to launch an external terminal to run the C++ code. Is it possibile to have a terminal that is integrated within the java GUI? And run the C++ code within it?
Moreover, since the C++ code may take several hours to finish the job is there a way to read its output and use it in order to make, for example, proceed a progress bar?
… and it tells me 1.7.0_51 IcedTea etc. I haven't found an OpenJDK version of Java8, so I tried the usual technique of unzipping the Oracle download into /usr/java (which I have created and given “campbell” ownership of).
campbell@xxxxx:~$ /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_05/bin/java -version bash: /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_05/bin/java: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error campbell@xxxxx:~$ /usr/java/jdk1.7.0_55/bin/java -version bash: /usr/java/jdk1.7.0_55/bin/java: No such file or directory
Same download in my home directory as I had last week. I repeated the download and got the same error. It is different from the error for Oracle Java7, which I haven't actually got installed at the moment.
So when writing my first "Hello World" app everything seemed to work just fine. I wrote the code, compiled it, and then ran the class file and it worked, I got the return Hello World! But when I tried to write another app which is basically the exact same thing just a different sentence, I keep getting a bunch of error codes saying illegal character. I did everything the exact same. I am using Text Edit on a Mac and using Terminal to execute the Java code.
Here is what I wrote....
public class MyFirstApp { public static void main( String[] args ) { System.out.println(“i rule the world!”);
I have built a Java app that uses SQLite (sqlite-jdbc-3.8.7.jar). Running the jar file on windows works as expected however, trying to run it on Ubuntu Server 14.04 has turned into quite a task!
I put together a brand new machine in VirtualBox for testing. I installed Java (sudo apt-get install default-jre) and have installed SQLite (sudo apt-get install cl-sql-sqlite3 sqlitebrowser). I created a new sub-directory within my home directory and copied over the jar file. From terminal, I then run the command: sudo java -jar ProductionView.jar and I receive a java.lang.unsatisfiedlinkerror. For troubleshooting, within the app, before making a connection to the db, I have printed out the location of where the db is to be created and it is correct (see attached pic). Is there more that needs to be configured before I can run this app on Ubuntu? I have posted the relevant code below :
(AppDatabasePath() is what is printed in the image...).
map1 is hashmap which contains the destination ip adress.When i run the above code the exit code for process (pr) is 1 and hence the tshark command is not executing properly.
I would like to ask you how can i execute the next code without errors.
I am trying to execute a jar (myFile.jar) file multiple times with different inputs from another jar file. More simple i have game with many players and i create a Round Robin scheduling for the tournament, i need to execute all the mach's of a round together.
When i run the next code it execute on the first game with the first players multiple times.
Java Code:
public class RunJARFile { //10 player //5 game per round public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { for (int Tour = 0; Tour < 9 ; Tour++) { for (int Game = 0; Game < 5; Game++) {
So say I write up a program like a dice roll game, which I see on the forums here. It's all written and good to go and when I hit Run it does what I want it to do, no errors..What do I do with those .class and .java files? Do I compile it somehow into an app I can put on the google play store? What is the NEXT STEP after the program is all written?
i am trying to run a command in terminal the code is below if i run the command in terminal it works fine however when i run it from netbeans with code below nothing gets printed. however if i run a different command such as (ip addr) it works fine?
public static void a() throws IOException{ ArrayList lister=new ArrayList(); Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime(); Process proc = rt.exec("ps -ef | grep firefox");// the command i am trying to run to get pid of application InputStream stderr = proc.getInputStream();
What's wrong with my Java program? When I open it using appletviewer, the applet opens but stays blank and an error message appears in Terminal.
Java Code:
import java.applet.*; import java.awt.*; public class DemoColor extends Applet { Font littleFont = new Font("Helvetica", Font.ITALIC, 6); public void paint(Graphics gr)
[Code] ....
Error Message:

I am trying to play video in JPanel using vlcj in ubuntu, there is no error. My project builts successfully. but do not plays video. when i run code JFrame comes for a while. when i use same code in windows. it plays video and works successfully, but not in ubuntu.
In output window , it show following
A fatal error has occured in java runtime environment. (and so many things.)
I have recently start learning about objects and classes in java. I understand that in order to use multiple classes in one file you need one class to be public and the rest are private. But after that I don't understand how to invoke the private class in the public class. I thought if I tried programming on my own I can have a better understanding of it, but had no success.
I have a text file with the below details and we get the input as name CONNECTION_PORT and we need to delete the matching global variable which as CONNECTION_PORT and keep the remaining global variable in file without using any temp files.
There are multiple .CSV files (each file has multiple rows and columns). I need to fetch data from all the files and find MEDIAN of the values for each column and do further calculations. Suppose there are 3 files, i need to find the MEDIAN of column 1 in file1, MEDIAN of column 1 in file2, MEDIAN of column 1 in file3. Below code just fetch data from one file.
The following script is a multiple file renaming script. Once this script completes the renaming of multiple files the script then deselects all of the files it renames.
Any kind of jscript code that can allow this script to keep the renamed files highlighted after the renaming process is complete?
I have an application separated into three different projects - core, command line version and Web UI version.
Core contains all the business logic in several services classes. Command line version and Web UI version both uses the core project services.
Command line have main class which call services from core. Web UI version is Spring base application using same services from core.
Java Code:
CoreProject - src - Service Classes (code here use thirdParty jars and core_file.txt) - lib - thirdParty.jar - core_file.txt mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
[Code] ....
Now I want to give two separate versions to client.
Command line version to run as service in Windows andUI version to deploy in their server.
With above structure I create the cmdline.jar but when I am trying to run with
I am getting java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError exception for the service classes in core. So my question is how to pack/generate jar for this kind of distribution?
So I am calling this method several times and trying to write multiple records to a file. Problem is that every time I call the method it overwrites the file from before and doesn't add it.
public void fileWriterMethod() throws IOException{ RandomAccessFile raf = new RandomAccessFile(filename, "rw"); raf.writeInt(id); raf.writeInt(existingMileage); raf.writeInt(gasCost); raf.writeInt(ndays); raf.writeInt(rate);
I am trying to create a Community Theater program that has Actors, Directors, Investors, Staff etc. I should eventually be able to input the information for the people from both a file and the keyboard. I'm working on trying to take in multiple Actors from one file and adding them to an ArrayList of Actors. My code takes in only one actor right now.
I am trying to take in multiple sets of data for the same type of class but creating new instances after each set of data (16 lines). Each actor has 16 lines of data (text file included), so I was thinking that I would need perhaps a for loop but I am unsure of how and where to implement it. I am also unsure about adding these new actors to the Actor ArrayList. I'm a little shaky on the idea of creating multiple objects when it is unknown how many you need to create. Right now, I know how many Actors I need to add but it would be nice if I could learn how to expand that based on the user's needs.
My Questions: How can I write my program to know when it is done reading 16 lines and then initialize a new Actor (will expand to other people)?(expanded below)Eventually, I plan on using my theaterObj (an instance of CommunityTheater class), what if I wanted to move the readActorFile method to that class? Would that change the way I implement anything majorly? Would it still be a static method? I ask this because I want the Actors array to be a variable in the CommunityTheater class. I would extend this to adding actors to an ArrayList in a Play class which would be in CommunityTheater as well. So, essentially a CommunityTheater has different Play(s), and each Play contains a list of Actors.
I don't exactly know where I should put a loop (should I use a loop?) to read through each line, in readActorFile or in readInFile? How should I write this loop, as in, how do tell my program what line it's reading?
for(countLine=0; countLine < 17; countLine++) or while(countLine<17) read all the info and then an if(?)-
if(file has a next line)-I don't really know how to code this-start over with loop of reading information?I don't know about the for loop, as I'm not sure how to "count" lines in a text file.OR I've been thinking that readInFile in the Actor class could return something(true/false?) to let the method readInActor know that it's done reading, then readInActor can check to see if there's anything else in the file, if there is- it would call the readInFile in Actor class again to read in information... and so on. But again I am unsure of how to code this.
