Nov 7, 2014

I need to create a grocery store calculator in Netbeans GUI. It should function as follows:

1. Click "Checkout"
2. Enter item price screen pops up.
3. Input item price, and store price in Item price, subtotal and display in those text fields. Also store item number in number of items and display in text field, all after you click "Ok".
4. Enter item price screen should automatically pop back up. (Loop)
5. Once you are finished with all items, when you click "Ok" or "Cancel" with nothing in the text field. It should calculate sales tax/ total sale and display both.
6. Rest button should reset to the beginning and Exit button should exit program.

GUI 1.jpgGUI 2.jpg

The good news is my program works right now. Although I do not believe I am using the setter/getter methods correctly. More importantly I do not fully understand them. I left out the Generated code due to the length.

import java.text.NumberFormat;
import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
public class Assignment4 extends javax.swing.JFrame {
NumberFormat nF = NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance();
private Object JoptionPane;
private double purchase; //private instance variables
private int numItems; //private instance variables

Create Country Object And Store In Array

Oct 12, 2014

Write a program that prompts the user for information about some countries, creates an object for each country, and then stores the objects in an array. After the user has entered information about all the countries, your program should print out which countries in the list have the smallest and largest area and population density. Assume the user will enter information about at least one country but that the program will not have to store more than ten countries in the array. The user will indicate that they are done entering countries by typing "DONE" for a country name. Here is an example of what your program must look like when it is executed (user input is shown bold)

Please enter the name of a country: United States
Enter the area in square km and population of United States: 9827000 310000000
Please enter the name of a country: Mexico
Enter the area in square km and population of Mexico: 1973000 122300000
Please enter the name of a country: Canada
Enter the area in square km and population of Canada: 9985000 35160000
Please enter the name of a country: Liberia
Enter the area in square km and population of Liberia: 111370 4294000
Please enter the name of a country: DONE

Liberia has the smallest area at 111370 square km.
Canada has the largest area at 9985000 square km.
Canada has the smallest population density at 3.521282 people per square km.
Mexico has the largest population density at 61.986822 people per square km.

I don't know, I'm really confused with this Java program. I don't know how to do the main part of the program where the user inputs, array, and the output.

// Access the Scanner and ArrayList class by importing the java.util package.
import java.util.Scanner;

/** Project - A Country Object
* The purpose of this program is for the user to enter some information at most 10 countries. After the user has entered information about all the countries, the program should print out which countries in the list have the smallest and largest area and population density.
*/

public class Country
{
private String countryName;
private int theArea;
private int thePopulation;
public Country(String countryName, int thePopulation, int theArea)

JSF :: 2.2 And Netbeans 8.0 - Create A Website That Has Common Header / Footer And Menu

Aug 26, 2014

I am working with Netbeans 8.0 and JSF2.2. I am trying to create a web site that has a common header, footer, and menu. The only part that would be dynamic is the content. So here goes...

1) I need a common template that has 4 parts, Header, Footer, Menu, Content
2) The header, footer and menu are to be in a separate files of which are called from the main template
3) The content will change based on the menu item changed
4) The menu has to change the content section only

I know how to do this in HTML but I am trying to set up some thing in JSF to learn more on JSF pages. All I am looking for is an example that I can follow along with having the multiple pages as well having the menu change the content (I have done a ton of internet searching but nothing really fits the bill).

This is the code I have currently.

Index (Main Template)
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Other Classes Not Recognised By NetBeans GUI

Jan 21, 2014

I'm working on a University project creating a simple game using Netbeans but I'm totally stuck. I've created a number of classes to perform various methods, such as throwing back formatted text but I can't get them to work from within a Swing GUI created in Netbeans.

The Main method simply creates an instance of another class called Game which then itself creates instances of a number of other classes (textEngine, timer) and also a Swing GUI Class. The GUI appears on screen ok and I've been able to get methods working inside the GUI such as changing pictures and text when clicking a button. But I CANT get the GUI class to recognise the instances of the other classes or access their methods. I've created an instance of the TextEngine class called tEng. So I type this code in the GUI class:

textField.setText(tEng.getPhrase(2));

getPhrase() returns a String based on the number passed in the argument. But Netbeans reports an error that tEng is not recognised as a symbol despit it being a member of the same package. Creating the instance of the class within the GUI class likewise fails:

TextEngine tEng = new TextEngine();

Again the class is not recognised.

Netbeans - Calculation In GUI Interface

May 12, 2014

I'm trying to create a GUI interface in Netbeans that calculates a phone bill.

I created a GUI interface that input:
- Account Name.
- Account Number.
- Number of Minutes the phone was used. (with a textarea so the user input the minutes)
- 2 JRadioButtoms so the user can chose the regular or premium service.
- Amount Due (+10% taxes) (also with a textarea)
- Clear/Enter/Result/Done Buttoms

And I need to output:
- Account Name.
- Account Number.
- Number of Minutes.
- Taxes
- Total Amount Due.

I have a couple of math formulas I have to add them to output the above however I'm new to java so I don't know which code to use.

The math formulas are:
-Regular charges = 20 + ( No. Minutes - 50 ) * 0.20
-Premium charges = 50 + ( No. Minutes - 75 ) * 0.50
-Taxes = ( Regular charges + Premium charges ) * 0.10
-Amount Due = Regular charges + Premium charges + Taxes
