View RepliesI have a project about programing a game in java . In this project you are required to design and implement a word guessing game. In the game, user selects one of the available dictionaries (animals, plants, technical, names, etc. ), and the program randomly chooses one word from that dictionary and displays it by scrambling the letters. The user tries to guess the word while a guess counter starts to count down (lets assume it starts from 5).
While counter counts towards zero, the program chooses -randomly- two misplaced letters and puts them into correct positions to reveal the word more and give the user a hint. However, giving a new hint reduces the total value of the question. Lets say if the initial value of the question is 500 when all letters are scrambled, it reduces to 400 after 1st incorrect guess and hint, then after every incorrect guess it reduces more. You can determine the value of the question by the length of the word. The other details of the game is as follows:
1.You must design at least three classes (for example game, scrambledword, and dictionary).
2.Dictionaries are written in text files. If you design a class for dictionary, it must be constructed by a user chosen category ((animals, plants, technical, names, etc). In the constructor, the dictionary text file corresponding to this category must be opened and read; and words in that dictionary must be read into memory (e.g. String array). You must submit your dictionaries with your code. Do not share dictionaries between friends.
3.The game will record your total points and name in a text file where a hall of fame which has different users and their total points in 10 questions. You can design and implement a class for this.
4.Bonus+5%: Put user interface modules textboxes, buttons, etc Or
a.Use class hierarchy
b.Use of thread and timers and reducing the question value by timer instead of guesses.
Design and implement an application that produces a multiplication table, showing the results of multiplying the integers 1 through 12 by themselves
View Replies View RelatedCode for implementing a simple computerised version of Battleships has been supplied. Examine the code ensuring that you understand it. The game is played against the computer.
A number of ships (default is 6) are place randomly on a 4 x 4 grid. A ship occupies one square only. The player then guesses the position of a ship. If he/she guesses correctly the ship is HIT and sinks. If the guess is incorrect the player loses a life. The default number of lives is 7. If the location has been guessed already, no lives are lost.
When the game starts, a 4 x 4 grid should be displayed.
The user should be allowed to enter/select a cell location. If the selected cell contains a ship, the ship will be destroyed. If not the player loses a life. The cell should display an appropriate picture, icon or message informing the user of its current state.
The number of lives and number of ships remaining should be displayed.
When the game ends an appropriate message should be shown informing the player whether he/she has won or lost. The positions of the ships should also be shown.
The purpose of this assignment is that students demonstrate an understanding of the Java Swing library and that he/she can navigate and use the API effectively.
Your finished GUI should be both user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing.
Ideally, the user should have the option to play another game, to quit or give up mid-game. You may also wish to include other options such as different levels of difficulty, etc.
I'm currently meddling with javaScript in order to implement a fingerPrinting system in my web application. I've developed the following example in which I can get all the necessarily data:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets">
[Code] ....
Which works correctly.
So when I tried to run it in the following page:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core">
<h:head>
<title>SET - Simulador Econômico Tendências</title>
[Code] .....
It simply won't work!
The function faz() is called and only the first "alert" popup is called, the second one which should show what is returned by dadosDaTela() isn't generated, why is that?
I have configured form based JAAS in my app. Basically, in web.xml I have declared security constraints on certain jsp page, declared specific roles, login and error pages. So, my login form is:
<form id="loginForm" action="j_security_check" method="post">
<p>
<label for="name">Username</label> <input name="j_username"
id="username" type="text" required/>
[Code] ....
This works fine when some user tries to access some of the pages declared in <security-constraint> tag of web.xml.
Container automatically manages login process, redirects to login page and if login details are valid, gives access to secured page.
Now, how should I implement login system so that user can go to login page (possibly same login form) and log in from there?
The idea I'd like to present, concerns the correction of "designer" drawings - those done by the design consultants - against "site/construction" drawings - them being used on site by the workers to build the project itself.
This is normally a laborious process, involving being sat at a desk with two large folders, checking each detail and measurement against the design drawing.What I'd like to present is an idea, where the co-ordinates of the design or "mother" drawing, are transferred into a usable Java program, and they could be then used to ensure correct dimensions have been applied by the the sub-contractors in their "construction" drawings.Like I said, this can normally be a process of days for a site engineer to check - process known as "QA, quality assurance".
Basically, I just need to make a presentation of having a genuine interest in Software Design and Development. It could be applied in a range of areas in terms of construction site application - checking drawings, writing up work orders, dig orders etc - but the principle of having the co-ordinates of the mother or "design" drawing scanned into an array in Java as a means to output those site drawings/orders etc, applies to each potential application.
So - in short - and not looking for crystal clear detail, just general pointers - what programs or methods could transfer a plethora of co-ordinates from a design program like Auto-Cad, to a Java program, where I assume I would then be using a program containing a complex series of loops to ensure the correctness of the derived "construction" drawings; derived from the "mother" or designer drawings, that is.
I am trying to program the A star algorithm using JButtons. Now I have some tweaking to do but I have to get past the errors first.
I am getting the following errors:
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerException
at AStar.findEndButton(AStar.java:40)
at Screen$1.actionPerformed(Screen.java:59)
at javax.swing.AbstractButton.fireActionPerformed(AbstractButton.java:2018)
at javax.swing.AbstractButton$Handler.actionPerformed(AbstractButton.java:2341)
[Code] ....
In my AStar class you will see these buttons which is an instance of matrixButtons
MatrixButtons[][] current;
MatrixButtons[][] endButton;
MatrixButtons[][] startButton;
MatrixButtons[][] nextCurrent;
MatrixButtons[][] temp;
MatrixButtons bestNextMove;
I really need them to handle several different methods. A full example of the full program is below.
import java.awt.BorderLayout;
import java.awt.GridLayout;
import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
import javax.swing.*;
public class Screen
[Code] ....
So I was just wondering if it's possible to create a program with JAVA that uses an algorithm to summarize data inputed. I've never done something like this before, If this is not possible with Java is it possible with C++ or any other language??
View Replies View RelatedOk so this is a grading program. I have it so the user can input 2 students and then at the end using an if statement it is suppose to compare them and print out who had the higher grade. Seems simple but it never runs the line of code to print out whos grade is higher:
if (stuAverage > stuAverage2 ){
System.out.println(student + " has the highest grade of all students entered!");
}
else if (stuAverage2> stuAverage){
System.out.println(student2 + " has the highest grade of all students entered!!");
}
Here is the Main class:
import java.util.Scanner;
public class Main2 {
int stuAverage;
static String student;
[code]....
this program used to implement palindrome String of using stack and queue.i wont to enter string by scanner how can i chang it ??????
class Palindrom_homwork1{
int top=-1;
int rear=-1;
int front=-1;
int max=3;
int max1=3;
char array[]=new char[max];
char array1[]=new char[max1];
[code]....
So i was assigned to write a program that would print the answer to the system of two linear equation. the form of ax+by=c and dx+ey=f..I wrote this program, but it is incorrect since I tried it out on my terminal and I keep getting incorrect values.
import java.util.Scanner;
public class Quest4 {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
[code]....
I want to create a program where i can output a number. ex. 3452 And the program will output 3000: three thousand 5: five 53: fifty-three
How can i make the program understand the 10-number system?
class A
{
public final int Add(int a,int b) {
return a+b;
}
}
class B
{
public static void main (String args[])
{
System.out.println(Model.Add(5,10));
}
}
This is what I have. I'm not sure if this even makes use of a final method. But when I run it I get an error saying cannot find symbol for line 13.
I'm trying to build a program that contains the ability to:
(1) insert new node at head,
(2) print out contents of the list in order,
(3) remove first node from head,
(4) remove last node from tail,
(5) find a target value,
(6) give total number of occurrences of a target value, and
(7) give total number of items in list.
The areas I'm struggling with implementing are: (
- remove from tail - I know how to find the final node but I can't quite figure out how to set it to null since its initial type is an integer.
- find a target value - how to make the parameters quite workout so the user can simply input an integer value.
- The solution is probably really simple but I can't figure out how to print out the results of these methods when I call them.
public class Node
{
private int data;
private Node link;
// Node Constructor 1
public Node()
{
data = 0;
link = null;
[code]....
This program deals with a variation of the geographic coordinate system with Greenwich at 51° 28' 38" N. The program will be adding the three values of one coordinate to the three values of the second coordinate. Though the maximum value for seconds and minutes is 59, the user can enter values greater than that number when prompted. The maximum degree is 360 for this assignment though the user can enter values greater than that number.
View Replies View RelatedNetbeans do not detect any syntax errors, but I when I check the build it retuned areas they were a few; It's a simple program name 5 people, gade them then do final calulatoins it's called "grade tool.

~Problems~
1. It has no gui, I don't know java fx, is java groove used? awt is useful for creating spam bots in robot class, I know it's not very useful but it's so much fun.
2. the sections where I use the scanner.
I just started programming yesterday, and I have been making little programs to learn some algorithms and the syntax of java. I tried making a program that could convert metric units into the American system. Whenever I try to compile the code, it shows up as an "incompatible type" error. I know this is probably a very obvious answer to most of you, but I can't figure it out.
import java.util.Scanner;
public class MetricToAmerican
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println("fWhat measurement would you like to convert into US system?
celsius, meter, or kilogram ");
[code]....
I do now have the problem where i have to insert the numbers 1 to 100 individually in order to allow the program to accept a grade as high as 100%.
Also as soon as i type in a negative number the system crashes and shows me a error as attached.

Many classes calculate a final grade by using a weighted scoring system. For example, "Assignments" might be worth (weighted at) 40% of your final grade. To calculate the portion of the final grade contributed by the Assignments category, the teacher takes the average of all assignments in the category and multiplies it by the weight (40%). So if a student averaged 90% on all assignments, the teacher would take 40% of 90%, or 36 as the weighted average score for the assignment portion of the the final score. The teacher then calculates the weighted average score for each of the other categories (Quizzes, Midterm Exam, Final Exam, etc.), adds them all together to come up with the final score, and assigns a letter grade based on that score.
Write a Java program that allows the teacher to calculate the grade for a student.
Specification :
Prompt the user to enter the Student ID number, first name, last name, and the average score for each of the following categories:
Assignments (worth 50%)
Quizzes (worth 20%)
Midterm Exam (worth 10%)
Final Exam (worth 20%)
Calculate the weighted average score for each category and the total score for the student. Next assign a letter grade as follows:
90 - 100 = A
80 - 89 = B
70 - 79 = C
60 - 69 = D
59 and below = E
Print the results in the following format:
Name: [Last Name], [First Name]
Student ID: [Student ID]
Assignments: [weighted average]
Quizzes: [weighted average]
Midterm Exam: [weighted average]
Final Exam: [weighted average]
Total: [total score]
Final Grade: [letter grade]
Prompt the user to either enter another student or to quit. Continue the process until the user chooses to quit.
I almost done everything but I cant calculate a total score for the student or Assign a letter grade based on the score!!!!

import java.util.Scanner;

I develop a finite element code at java. I am looking for efficiency solver and fast for large, sparse , symmetric and positive define matrices .
i used in jblas but i encounter in problem when the matrix has high condition number(ill condition number) and i get error for singular matrix while in mathematica i succeed to solve that system without problems...
Any good solver and fast solver package in java can i use for solving that system?
