We are making a tic tac toe game for my CS120 class and I am having trouble figuring out how to make our X's and O's. Is there a way to make shapes besides making two lines for an X and an oval with a white smaller oval inside to make an O? We have only learned the basics so far in class (i.e. events, inheritance, client-supplier, etc.)
These are our instructions:
Write a controller that controls the game. There is one human player (the X player) and the computer player (the O player). The name of the class must be TicTacToeController. In a sense, the controller is the game since the controller will 1) create a TicTacToeModel 2) create a TicTacToeView and 3) create a TicTacToeButton (you must write this class following the design pattern covered in class lectures), a label, and text field such that when the button is pushed, the player moves into the cell selected by the text field. After every player move, the computer moves into a randomly selected empty cell. When the game is over, a text message must be displayed somewhere on the screen the gives the status of the game. While you are free to change the appearance of the controller, the basic elements must be provided (a view of the game, a button, and a text field to enter the cell). A sample screenshot is displayed below.And this is the code i have thus far:
[import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
public class TicTacToeView extends Rectangle
public TicTacToeView(int x, int y, int w, int h) {
super(50,60,w,h);
this.setBackground(Color.red);
JFrame win = new JFrame("Tic Tac Toe");
win.setBounds(10,10,w+100, h+100);
win.setLayout(null);
win.setVisible(true);
win.setBackground(Color.gray);

I'm very new to Java, and I am creating a program that takes multiple user input to create one face. I have a class for the eyes, nose, lips, and headshape. For some reason, my program is not drawing the graphics. ***for question purposes, I have only included my head shape class and my test class****
my "test" class:
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
public class FaceTest

public static void main(String[] args)
{
String head = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Would you like a circle, square, rectangle shaped head?: ");

I am trying to get random shapes to generate automatically. I was able to get just three shapes to generate but nothing random. When I added the random code now only the frame shows up and no shapes. I also keep getting an error with frame.setVisible(true). It says identifier expected. Here is what I have so far:
Main program:
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.util.Random;
public class ShapeGen {
public static void main(String [] args) {
//Create window and set title
draw panel = new Draw();
[Code] ....
This is the draw program to generate random shapes:
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.util.Random;
public class draw extends JPanel {
public draw(Color backColor) {
setBackground(backColor);
[Code] .....
I am having issues with drawing shapes from bottom right to top left.
Issue:
- g.drawRect() will show like I am calling g.fillRect()
- other shapes will not even show the shape in that area
Needs:
- g.drawSHAPE needs to show and not be filled unless I have my fill checkbox selected
The Program:
- Create a JFrame with a draw panel and a component panel
- have a combobox with shapes that, when selected, will draw that shape in the draw panel
- have a button that, when clicked, will launch JColorChooser to change the color of the drawn shape (draw panel is set to black)
- have a checkbox that, when checked, fills the shape
- have mouse listeners to adjust X and Y and will instantly update the shapes size to where you drag/click/press/release
Code for my drawRect():
Java Code:
// if statement to check if mouse drag X is less than starting X
if(x2 <= x){
if(emptyORfill.isSelected()) // emptyORfill is my JCheckBox
g.fillRect(x2, y, x-x2, y2-y); // x-x2 is the same as Math.abs(x2-x)
else
g.drawRect(x2, y, x-x2, y2-y);
[Code] .....
This is just for my Rectangle. This will show a filled rectangle when both mouse drag X and Y are less then the starting X and Y. If I take this fully functional code and adapt it to drawRoundRect(), the round rectangle wont even show the shape when mouse drag X and Y are less than the starting X and Y but will be fine if one or the other is less than the starting X or Y. NOTE: This same exact code worked on my classmates laptop in her program, but in my program on her laptop it did not. She took out the "else" in the else if's and just made them if statements all the way down and it worked on her laptop in my program, but the same "fix" did not work on my pc.
My mouse listener just sets X and Y values in my Shape class that updates my shape methods. I have an item listener for my comboBox that sets default values when a new selection is made and enables/disables editable on my fill checkbox for certain shapes. My action listener looks for the button click and the checkBox click.
Write a class that has three overloaded static methods for calculating the areas of the
following geometric shapes:
• circles -- area = π*radius^2 (format the answer to have two decimal places)
• rectangles -- area = width * length
• trapezoid -- area = (base1 + base2) * height/2
Because the three methods are to be overloaded, they should each have the same name , but different parameters (for example, the method to be used with circles should only take one parameter , the radius of the circle).
Demonstrate the methods in a program that prints out the following areas, each on a separate line:
• the area of a circle with radius 3
• the area of a rectangle with length 2 and width 4
• the area of a trapezoid with base lengths 3 and 5 and height 5

I have a problem in with colissions in JavaFX.
First, I detect a collision between a line and a circle using the follow code:
if(line.getBoundsInParent().intersects(circle.getBoundsInParent())){
System.out.println("Collision!");
}
After this, i need catch the coordinate of collision, like the below figure:
How to catch this coordinate?

I want to write a text area to a file which I have accomplished however the formatting for how it is written into the text file is different. Is there a different library I must use to retain the formatting?
I'm using a BufferedWriter to write to the file
if (!file.exists()) {
try {
BufferedWriter output = new BufferedWriter(
new FileWriter(file));
output.write(textArea.getText());
output.close();
} catch (IOExcception io) {
io.printStackTrace();
}
}
If I write this into the text area:

Google
The text file contains text that says:

I've done basic programming in java using Netbeans IDE. So I've good foundational knowledge in java programming. Now I looking forward to draw shapes in java and eventually learn to make simulations. Now I want to learn to create geometric shapes like circle triangle, rectangle etc. I don't know in which Jcomponent(s) should I set the drawing of the shapes, the codes, the libraries and classes I need to import.
View Replies View RelatedIs there some way to create compound shapes/paths in JavaFX?
For the record I'm not implying the use of the methods intersect, subtract, or union. These produce other shapes. A compound shape/path is one that has a knockout of some sort. For instance, a circle within a circle, such as in a 2d donut shape. Alternatives do not include a circle with a thick stroke nor an overlayed circle with the background color. Specifically, JavaFX supports the FillRule, in the case of the Path object. However, there doesn't appear to be an "add" method as there was in the Area shape in Swing.
Class 1 open main frame
Class2 add panel for main frame
Class3 append text to Jtextarea (of panel class2)
i can use this current code to change it so that it use TextArea in jsp and the keylistener code in servlet. i know i have to take out the JFrame,JTextfield and ContentPane but still i could not do it.

import java.awt.event.KeyEvent;
import java.awt.event.KeyListener;

I am having trouble with getting a user input once they enter it in to a JTextArea and then storing it in to a string value. See, I wanted the user to enter an answer in to the JTextArea, and then once I store it in to a string value, I would be able to use it later. I wanted to after storing the variable to print it on to a JLabel, but nothing is showing up... Heres my code.
static String usera[]= new String [10];
for (int i=0; i< usera.length; i++) {
//These are the JTextArea names
usera[0]= Question1.getText();
usera[1]= Question2.getText();
[Code].....
I already initialized the JLabels earlier in my code, and I did not feel the need to post all my code here. This is where I am trying to get the string variable and then printing it out.
i am doing a program that allow user to run and execute java language in this commandline.jsp, a servlet execute.java , jsp called get consoleout put.jsp to direct it to commandline.jsp...however there a compilation errors cos i could only get a line of string, and when i run loop in commandline.jsp it will not have the output. i could only run helloworld in it.therefore i need code that i can run multiple line in it. i suspect its the print stream error in execute.java

I am setting text to textarea from textfield. It works perfectly. My challenge, however, is setting texts with spaces in-Between them. For example, what I observe is:Amount23 instead of: Amount 23. Is it possible to automatically create word space while setting texts?
View Replies View RelatedI am making use of NetBeans IDE 8.0 to build a GUI. The idea is that I set multiple values received from textfields to textarea. This will enable me print the work. But ONLY ONE value from textfields is set(appear on textarea); the others do not appear at all. Below is example of what I mean:
String s = jTextField1.getText();
JTextArea1.setText(s);
String x =
jTextField2.getText();
JTextArea1.setText(x);
Only one is being set. The rest are not.
I have a TextArea that I am trying to restrict user inputs to allow only IP addresses format in that Area. So I thought of only allowing digits and decimal points. For multiple IPs, One IP per line, the TextArea needs to accept new lines. For the most part what I have below is working except for delete. I can't delete any entry even if I am using the associate Unicode. Is this even the correct way of doing it?
