Find Min And Max Values And Calculate Mean For Data Set
May 2, 2014
The first is MyArray Class (You can either use an array or an arrayList)Create a class called LastNameFirstNameMyArray according to the UML diagram. This class will allow a user to enter 5 integer values into an array(or object of ArrayList<Integer>). It contains methods to find min and max values and calculate the mean for the data set.
LastNameFirstNameMyArray - data[ ] : int (or data : ArrayList<Integer> )
- min : int
- max: int
- mean : double + LastNameFirstNameMyArray()
+ findMin() : void
+ findMax() : void
+ calculateMean(): void
+ toString() : String
Attributes:
data[]the array which will contain the values or data<Integer>the arraylist which will contain the values
minthe minimum value among the values in the arraylist
maxthe maximum value among the values in the arraylist
mean the arithmetic average of the values
Methods:
You need to implement the constructor LastNameFirstNameMyArray(), which populates 5 values. In addition, the constructor should call findMin() and findMax(), and also calculateMean().
Methods:
LastNameFirstNameMyArray()the constructor. It will allocate memory for the array (or arraylist) of size 5. Use a for loop to repeatedly display a prompt for the user which should indicate that user should enter value 1, value 2, etc. Note: The computer starts counting with 0, but people start counting with 1, and your prompt should account for this. For example, when the user enters value 1, it will be stored in indexed variable 0. The constructor should populate 5 integer values, call findMin() and findMax(), and also calculateMean().
findMin()this is a method that uses a for loop to access each data value in the array (or arraylist) and finds the minimum value. The minimum value is stored into min.
findMax()this is a method that uses a for loop to access each data value in the array (or arraylist) and finds the maximum value. The maximum value is stored into max.
calculateMean()this is a method that uses a for loop to access each data value in array (or arraylist) and add it to a running total. The total divided by the number of values (use the length of the array), and the result is stored into mean.
toString()returns a String containing data, min, max, and the mean.
Task #2 TestMyArray
1. Create a LastNameFirstNameTestMyArray class. This class only contains the main method. The main method should declare and instantiate a LastNameFirstNameMyArray object.
2. Compile, debug, and run the program. Then, it should print out the contents, the min, max, and mean of the data.
and the second is A theater seating chart is implemented as two-dimensional array of ticket prices, like this:
Write a program that prompts the users to pick either a seat or price. Mark sold seats by changing the price the 0. When a user specifies a seat, make sure it is available. When a user specifies a price, find any seat with that price.
Note: Assume that if the user enters 1 for the row and 1 for the seat, the yellow marked sit will be sold.
I know I can calculate the sum of squares as such:
// SumSquares.java: calculate the sum of two squares class SumSquares { static int sumSquares(int a, int B)/>/> { int asquare; int bsquare;
[Code] .....
But how can I modify the code so that it inputs a list of integer values in the range of -100 to 100 from the keyboard and computes the sum of the squares input values. And how would I go about using exception handling to ensure that the input values are in range and are legal integers.
Write method distance to calculate the distance between two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2). All numbers and return values should be of type double. Incorporate this method into an application that enables the user to enter the coordinates of the points.
Hints:
- The distance between two points can be calculated by taking the square root of
( x2 - x1 )2 + ( y2 - y1 )2
- Use Math class methods to compute the distance.
- Your output should appear as follows:
Type the end-of-file indicator to terminate
On UNIX/Linux/Mac OS X type <ctrl> d then press Enter
On Windows type <ctrl> z then press Enter
Or Enter X1: 1
Enter Y1: 1
Enter X2: 4
Enter Y2: 5
Distance is 5.000000
Type the end-of-file indicator to terminate
On UNIX/Linux/Mac OS X type <ctrl> d then press Enter
I have a set of enum values (let's call then ONE, TWO, THREE.....). I want to find the larger of two of them. But max(ONE,THREE) gives a compile error as MAX isn't defined for type-safe enums. Fair enough.
I also agree that one shouldn't be able to use arithmetic functions on enums.
But as Enum implements Comparable, one can write a function which implements max and min, rather inefficiently I assume.
Is there a better way of getting the max/min of an enum? And if not, can the Java team be persuaded to implement it?
a simple Java program for finding the median value in a list of values with the following requirements:
- Create an array with an even number of values in it (an odd number of values is little bit trickier, so if you want a challenge, do it for either an even or odd number of values)
- Find the value with an equal number of values greater than the value as there are values less than the value
- Your solution must not require a sorted list of values - Output the median value
This assignment is intended to get you to demonstrate basic knowledge of arrays, and to create methods with both input and output.
But, I coudln't find any place in Java/JSP where the value for status is being set. What could be the possible place where the values for status is being set.
As the code is client specific, so, I couldn't paste the specific code over here but I have searched in whole workspace i couldn't find a single place where values for status is being set/assigned to.
The intent of the code is to read date from a file, does calculation and then displays that data in a table format on the screen. Then creates another file with those values:
Reads file: Beginningbalance.txt Displays Data with calculation Creates a file called "Newbalance.txt" with the following values:
111 251.41 222 402.00
With the way the code is written I can get it to create the file but it only displays one of the customers (111). I know that I need to create a loop but I am not sure how to build that. I tried creating another while loop and changing it to outFile but that was without success.
import java.io.*; import java.util.Scanner; import java.text.DecimalFormat; public class Output { public static void main(String[]args) throws IOException {
I am running this method but for some reason I am not able to find the data record, it keeps going to the catch. I have the data.txt file in the same directory as the java file.
public static Games[] gamesRecord(){ Games[] game = new Games[50]; try{ Scanner dataFile = new Scanner(new File("data.txt")); for(int i = 0; i > 50; i++){ game[i].title = dataFile.next(); game[i].releaseDate = dataFile.nextInt(); game[i].redistributions = dataFile.nextInt(); game[i].platformRelease = dataFile.next();
So I want to write a constructor that creates a new object with the data from the array values. I don't know where to start. It's the last method in the code:
public class Measurements { private double[] values; private double[] newArray; private int n; //numberofvalues private double[] ms; public Measurements(int max) { //constructor
I am trying to write a program that will take any comma separated data set and return the values in an arraylist without any commas. Like if I input "hello, world, program, java" it would output an arraylist [hello,world,program,java].
public void run(){ String line = readLine("Enter a CSV-formatted line of data: "); int lowerBound = 0; String entry = new String(""); ArrayList<String> string = new ArrayList<String>();
I need a way to store the pixels values currently on the screen and compare them to the values on the first frame. Right now I'm using glreadpixels as follows:
currentBuffer= BufferTools.reserveByteData(mapSize); glReadPixels(mapStartX, mapStartY, mapWidth, mapHeight, GL_BLUE, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, currentBuffer); for (int i = 0; i < mapSize; i++) { if (currentBuffer.get(i) != baseBuffer.get(i)) { //Do nothing continue; } //Do something }
This works perfectly fine but turns out to be a real bottleneck, dropping the fps to a third of what it was. Is there any quicker way? All I'm after is speed, I don't even need to show it on the screen if the comparison is made "behind the scene".
I have a question in mind that this is my registration form. I am sending these values from HTML form to server and database. I have question that in my case if I click next to Add Another Mobile no in HTML.then a block is genereated and each time a new name is generated.
My Question is if I click 6 times then 6 name attribute are generated. How can I send and differentiate them on my server side.
Because at their I will use something request.getAttribute("Attr_Name");
I have a JScrollPane with two coulmns. In the first column I have an image pane JTable, and in the second a list with names of sections. This second column I try to divide in two columns, one (the second column) to display the names of the sections (each row contains one name), and in the other column (the third) I want to show some values for every section in the row respectively. But, instead of displaying the desired values in the third column, I get the same names of the sections as in the second column.
I would like to understand how does multipart/form-data works during file upload scenario's, Does it chunks the data from client to server while transferring the files ?
I'am trying to converting string data into xml data using xml beans and StringEscapeUtils.This is work fine but in one case it if the data contains special characters.
Code snippet -------------------- import org.apache.commons.lang3.StringEscapeUtils; import org.apache.xmlbeans.XmlException; import org.apache.xmlbeans.XmlObject; public class ParseXMLData { public static XmlObject parseXML(String stringXML) { XmlObject xmlObject = null;
[Code] ....
success case --------------------------- i/p------<aaa><bbb>This converts string to xml</bbb></aaa> o/p---<aaa><bbb>This converts string to xml</bbb></aaa>
Failer case ----------------- i/p----<aaa><bbb>This fails if it contains < symbols</bbb></aaa> expected o/p----<aaa><bbb>This fails if it contains < symbols</bbb></aaa>
Observed that it converts < to '<' but as per xml rules, if data contains '< ' it fails. I want to convert staring and end tags to xml format and if data in b/w middle of starting and ending tags do'n need to convert it. How to do it.
Is there a way to inform the Entity Manager or force the JPA provider to reload data from the database? The scenario could be data being updated by a store procedure or direct SQLPlus maintenance, without restarting the Application Server, the JPA need to load the newly updated data from the database.
I think the current JPA API is not enough. The void refresh(java.lang.Object entity) from EntityManager need to pass in the Entity object, I will like to know how to refresh the entire JPA Entity data after the physical table data being update from backend.
By using FileReader, FileWriter and their constituents, I am creating a file to contain employee information ( name, age, hours, etc. ). The user is to input all of the data on a single line and we were asked to implement StringTokenizer to assign that data to the file. I have never used the StringTokenizer before, but I have a rough idea how it is to function. I used pw.println to test what I have so far, now I would like to let the user build the initial file with the "first employees" of the company, and then view the file, and then go back and append new employee data to that same file. My question is, how can I take the user input as a StringTokenizer and add that to the file?
In the for loop below, I thought I would see if it would work, but it does not. The loop only executes once and does not allow me to enter data.
public class Records { public static void main(String [] args) throws IOException { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); FileWriter fw = new FileWriter("dbs3.java"); BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(fw); PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(bw); System.out.println("NEW EMPLOYEE DATA SHEET"); System.out.print("Number of new employees: "); int number = input.nextInt();
I am able to upload the file to the server, but I am not able to get the value of text1 in the servlet (I am getting null value of text1 in the servlet), I need this textfield in the form to submit some additional information while uploading it to the server.
--> Is enctype="multipart/form-data" option of form doesn't allow other form data to be submited? if it doesn't allow it then what are the other options I have to send this additional textfield to the server.
I have written several simple data classes that I serialized manually by converting to text. At this point I need to serialize a more complex data structure. which will include lists of the simpler elements. Can serialize store and reconstitute this type of structure automatically or do I need to do this one manually as well? Consider the pseudocode below for a clarification of my question;
Class Recipie{ String Name; CList HopList; CList MaltList; };
CList RecipieList; mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
I read the article on Serialization presented at tutorial point, but the example only showed a simple class, not lists of class members. What I want to do is serialize RecipieList, which consists of a CList of Recipies, which in turn consist of CLists of various ingredients.
I have a program which consist of several classes. The program reads a pom file and parses the data and then writes the data to a static table. The issue I'm having is with writing my LIB file data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable Class Im trying to write the files that are read in the lib directory to the table. My table currently consist of 3 columns (missing jar files,Lib Directory files, and POM file data) currently Im only able to write the missing jar files data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable class there is a for statement where I write the missing jar file data to my table. Im also trying to write the contents of the Lib directory within this statement as well. This is where I'm having my issue. My other classes consist of a SAX parser which parses the xml file, a class that creates my static table and a class that compares the jar files in my lib directory to the jar files in my pom file. . Theres a lot of code so I included the parts I felt were useful. If needed I can include the other classes as well.
public class ReadPomFile extends DefaultHandler { public static void main(String[] args) { try { // obtain a SAX based parser to parse XML document
I am creating a program where it reads the data inside a file and then places this data into arrays. The file I created has numbers 1-30 in it, file named, testing1.txt .
I'm doing an aggregation exercise that's suppose to find the volume and surface area of a cylinder. What I'm trying to do is pass values from one class, to a second class, and that second class passes values to a third class.
This may be a clearer explanation: The first class is the main program which sends values to the second and third class. The second class is used do calculations for a circle (a pre-existing class from another assignment). The third class grabs the values that the second class calculated and calculates those values with the one that was passed from the first class to the third class. The first class then prints the outcome.
Problem is when the program gets to the third class, it just calculates the value from the first class with the default constructor from the second class. It's like the second class never received the values from the first class. I think I'm missing a step, but I don't what it is.
First Class:
package circle; import java.util.Scanner; public class CylinderInput { static Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); public static void main(String[] args) { //user defined variable
I made a MVC calculator. I was wondering if you could take a look at my design and if I was on track. I am still working on getting it to actually calculate something. All the buttons respond and print text on the JTextField but it is not calculating.
package calculator.MVC; import javax.swing.JButton; import javax.swing.JTextField; public class CalculatorModel { private int sum; private int number; private char opt;
public class NewClass4 { public static void main(String[] args) { int a = 1; int b = 2; int c = 3; a += 5; b *= 4; c += a * b; c %= 6; System.out.println("a = " + a); System.out.println("b = " + b); System.out.println("c = " + c);
