Get Array Elements To Print Out Using Users Selection / Input?
Nov 20, 2014
im trying to make a small program where the user enters their selection choice and it prints out the corresponding information. for example, if they choose "3", i want "3. Soup de Jour" to print out
import java.util.Scanner;
public class rest
{
public static void main(String[] args)
import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Arrays; import java.util.List; public class array { public static void main(String[] args)
[Code] ...
Is there a way to write this, where, alpha is one array.
Write a program that declares an array "alpha" of 50 elements of type "double". Initialize the array so that the first 25 elements are equal to the square of the index variable and the last 25 elements are equal to three times the index variable. Output the array so that 10 elements per line are printed.
If I have an array of 50 integers, can I break that to read in lines of 10?
So in my code, I have the user input a number, and the program will then display that element in the array (I've done this bit). However I need to write code to check that the user is entering a valid index number, and if they don't, I need to prompt them that the number they have entered is incorrect and let them retry, and I don't know how to.
This is my full code, I have added a comment underneath where I need to add the code:
import java.util.Arrays; import java.util.Scanner; public class StudentNames { public static void main(String[] args) { String[] names = new String[8]; Scanner s = new Scanner(System.in); for (int i = 0; i < 8; i++) {
I have a hierarchical data structure (Machine, Component, Measurement, Fault are classes) displayed in a TreeViewer. I have added SelectionChanged and DoubleClick listeners, but can't find a way to get to the data stored in the selected instance of the data structure class. For example, the selection is a Measurement which has a String name field. I can see the data in the Element in Debug-Variables, but I can't find any getters to access it. I tried casting the selection as a Measurement but it is an ISelection, or TreeSelection class and it won't accept the cast.
It seems there should be get methods to access the data in the selection, but there aren't, so I'm must be missing something fundamental.
I have to do a small program about parking. In the 2-d array (parking lot), contains different kinds of cars, the user have to :
1)enter which car he wanna move, 2)what direction (w,a,s,d) and after that, 3) how many moves( not out of bound) he wants to make, and finally 4) we print out the new parking lot for his next move
And i am stuck at how to move the car to corresponding position and then prompt user for the next move?
For example:
I want to move A to the right by 1 (d)
擷取.PNG print result: 擷取1.PNG
How do I do that? The code that i have right now
public class CarParkGame { public static void main( String [] args) { String carPark[][] = new String [6][6] ; carPark[0] = new String[] {"A","A","A","0","0","0"}; carPark[1] = new String[] {"b","0","0","0","0","c"}; carPark[2] = new String[] {"b","X","X","0","0","c","<exit>"};
I have a college question ask me to write a class StringRevert which does the following:
-prompting user for an interger n -creating an array of n string -repeatedly read character string from user input and store them in the array until end of array is reached or user input -quit(quit should not saved in array) -print the string from array in reverse order, from last enter to first enter. -assume user always supplie correct input
This is what I've done so far but how to get it working.
import java.util.Scanner; public class StringRevert { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("enter value of n: "); int n1 = in.nextInt(); String[] n = new String[n1];
I'm doing a problem where I convert users input for the date (MM/DD/YY) into a written out date and year. That part is fine. The part I'm struggling with is then indicating what day that is in that year. how to use the user inputted MONTH, DAY, and YEAR to then get the day of year.
import java.util.Calendar; import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.regex.MatchResult; import javax.swing.JOptionPane; public class ConvertDate {
I am trying to make a 2d array that keeps track of comparison counts. what I have so far works ok but writes over the previous elements with 0. can't seem to find where I am re-initializing the previous elements.
//this is one of my fill sort arrays
public void fillSelectionArray(int index, long countSum) { //rand = new Random( ); //for ( int i = 0; i < listsize; i++) { selectionList[ index -1] = countSum; // }
I have project to get from users input like name,surname,to save to Jtable,i have table and jtextfiled but when user get input they don t save to table here is my code:
Project.zip (33.54K)
public class Projektni extends JFrame { public final JTextField ime = new JTextField(10); public final JTextField prezime = new JTextField(10); public final JTextField index = new JTextField(10); public DefaultListModel podaci = new DefaultListModel(); public JList lista = new JList(podaci); String kolone[] = {"ID","Name","Age"};
I need adding a textbox for users to input text onto my JFRame. Also how come the
frame.add(o);
is getting an error under the "add".
Main method class:
import javax.swing.JFrame; public class main { public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); bot o = new bot();
[Code] ......
Other class (this is where I want the textbox to be)
import javax.swing.JTextArea; import javax.swing.JTextField; public class bot { int x; int y; JTextField f = new JTextField(); JTextArea a = new JTextArea(30, 50); }
Write a program that asks the user to enter five test scores. The program should display a letter grade for each score and the average test score. Write the following methods in the program:
calculateAverage This method should accept five test scores as arguments and return the average of the scores. determineGrade This method should accept a test score as an argument and return a letter grade for the score, based on the following grading scale
Score Letter Grade 90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D Below 60 F
System.out.println("Enter the first score"); test1 = keyboard.nextDouble(); System.out.println("Enter the second score"); test2 = keyboard.nextDouble();
The number of Contact that I input is just one when I run the program so the Number of contacts: 1 is correct, but it gives me workbook.Contact@46e5590e instead of printing out all the contacts stored inside the Contact class. Yes I do loop through the ArrayList and I also have a method inside the Contact class, the printNameAndPhone(), which prints out the name as well as the phone number but how do I incorporate the printNameAndPhone() method (located in the Contact class) inside the print() method (located inside the AddressBook class)???
Basically I'm asking how to access all the elements in the ArrayList<Contact> addressBook = new ArrayList<>();??My main class AddressBook
package addressbook; import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.ArrayList; public class AddressBook {
I am taking the Class Algorithms and Datastructures and got an assignment for Lab that really throws me off. The goal is to create an Array out of a given CSV file, implement several Methods that get the size of array, etc.
I am still stuck in the first part where the CSV has to be imported into the Array. My problem is that I need a mechanism that figures out the needed size for the Array, creates the array, and only then transfers the data from the CSV.
The list consists of the following wifi related values:
MAC-Adress, SSID, Timestamp, Signalstrength.
These are on the list, separated by comma. The Columns are each of these, and the rows are the four types of values making up the information on a certain wifi network.
The catch is, we are not allowed to use any of the following:
java.util.ArrayList java.util.Arrays and any class out of java.util.Collection.
So far I used the BufferedReader to read in the file and tried to implement the array, but I get an arrayindexoutofboundsexception.
Below is my Code (Its still an active construction zone):
public class WhatsThere { public WhatsThere(String wifiscan) throws IOException { } public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { // WhatsThere Liste = new WhatsThere(String wifiscan); String[][] arrayListe = new String[0][0];
This is a lab for one of my CS classes, and the assignment is to create a randomly filled array (values 10-100) and use these values as the height of an array of rectangles (essentially a bar graph)that will be drawn on a page. After that's done, the code should use the selection sort method to sort the bars least to greatest, being repainted as it's sorted.
I'm receiving no errors, the original draws just fine, and the code sorts the first position and then...it just hangs. Like it's in an infinite loop but I have all of the modifiers in place (I think. I've been staring at this code for three days straight and I don't think I really see it anymore). I've tried talking to my professor and I get that her private life is really busy right now, but she just keeps blowing me off and I don't know what to do. Anyway, done with back story and whining so here's the code.
Rectangle class: import java.awt.*; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class Rectangle
I have a question about selection sort. If I had an array of numbers, 1 2 3 4 100 0, and used the selection sort method (below) on the array,would the 0 slowly work it's way down to the end?
I know it is possible to do this using the Array class but I don't want to use that. I am trying to use selection or bubble sort but I believe selection is what I want. This program asks the user to input 2 arrays with 10 integers each, sorts them from smallest to largest, then states whether they are the same or not. Comparing the two arrays.
import java.util.Scanner; public class SetDifference { public static void main (String args[]) { Scanner sc = new Scanner (System.in); int array1[] = new int[10]; int array2[] = new int[10];
When I insert: title, category, year, artist in 4 Strings And when I press "enter" i put those 4 in a array "large", and then when I can start a new music insert with 4 new string elements and add those in the large array..So: I have an array "large" with the length 19 (or so..)(max ~100 or so)Then I what to: get,in a new array "title",the elements:0,4,8,12,16 (from the large array) and put them in a scrollable list. And when I select one element in the title array I then whant to get 3 remaining elements from this. And put it in a array called selection.
So the "large" and the "title" arrays must be dynamically sizes... or be copied to a larger sized..
1 can it be done with arrays? 2 how do dynamically change the size of for example the array "title"? 3 how do I receive the elements 0,4,8,12,16 and so on, (to ( large.length-3) and add it to the title array?
This time I am having difficulties with selection sort method, but not with the method itself (I think). So I need to sort an array and return the result of each step.
This is the main code:
public class Functionality { public static int[][] selctionsort(int[] a) { for (int i=0; i<a.length; i++) { int least = i; for (int j=i+1; j<a.length; j++)
[Code] ....
And this is the Test folder:
import static org.junit.Assert.assertArrayEquals; public class PublicTests { public static void main(String[] args) { int[] a = new int[] { 35, 7, 63, 42, 24, 21 }; int[][] b = new int[][] { new int[] { 7, 35, 63, 42, 24, 21 },
[Code] ....
Now I am not sure what should I write in return since the 2nd (test) project has int[][] and in my main project I am working with int [].
The library array has two books and I want to copy one of them to the reserved books when you type in the ISBN
public void borrowBook(String ISBN) { int i = 0; if(numberOfBooks < MAX_BOOKS-1) { if(libraryBooks[i].getBookISBN().equals(ISBN)) { for(i=0;i<MAX_BOOKS-1;i++) reservedBooks[i] = libraryBooks[i]; } else System.out.println("There is no such book"); } else System.out.println("You have reached the maximum number of allowed books"); }
It shows me error: incompatible types - LibrarySystem cannot be converted into ReservedBook. How can I fix it?
So I am trying to create a code that searches if a word is square free. The user inputs a word (into an array) and then the code is suppose to see if it is square free. A word being square free means that the word doesn't contain any consecutive sub words. For example, "abcabc" is not a square free word because abc is repeated, but "abcdabc" is a square free word because there is a "d" separating the "abc".
So far I have this :
import java.util.Scanner; public class A3Q2 { public static void main(String[] args) { // part (a) of the main Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in);
[Code] ....
I've been trying to experiment with different ways such as checking to see if there any duplicate elements such as,
public static char isSquareFree(char[] word){ for(char i = 1; i < word.length; i++) { if(word[i] == word[i - 'a']) { System.out.println("Duplicate: " + word[i]); } } return word; } }
I have tried to print array elements using standard print statement. I am getting errors. How to print them. Here is my code:
class arrayEx1{ public static void main(String args[]) { int a[]=new int[3]; //Declaring Single Diomentional Array a[0]=10; a[1]=20; a[2]=30; int total=a[0]+a[1]+a[2]; System.out.println("Values stored in a[0],a[1],a[2]elements are :" + a[0] a[1] a[2]); System.out.println("Total values of a[0],a[1],a[2]elements is :"+ total); } }
if i give comma (,) in between above print stament (print statement 1) stil i am getting errors.
