Get Values From Database And Set Them In Text Fields?
Apr 24, 2014
I have a button in which I need to do the following:
After I click it It reads the values given in a jtextfield1 and in the other jtextfields I need it to settext in them from the database I mean if I have for example id=1 when I click the button it goes to the database and find the id 1 then write the infos in the other textfields
I have a simple class, called InputManager, which has methods that communicate with another class DatabaseManager which has access to Database which is actually object that contains information about actual database.
My JFrame has Navigation class (extends JPanel). There I put all needed JButtons, JLists and so on.. This class has instance of InputManager and when user interacts with GUI components inside of it, Navigation calls InputManager methods, it then analyses the call and calls needed methods on DeviceManager, which then sends queries to Database and etc.
The problem is, that at the beginning (when user runs a program), I want to get information (which is actually values for my GUI components ) from Database. It could, for example, create another DatabaseManager and connect to the Database to get information, but it is okay to have two objects?
I was also thinking about sending same DatabaseManager object through InputManager to Navigation, but it seems strange for me to have two objects, which can interact with each other in both directions(Class A has instance of Class B, and Class B has instance of Class A). Is there anything bad this can do?
Also what I noticed that it seems odd that GUI class would have to get information from database. (Logic in GUI class).
So I have an Enum file with 119 constants and each constant of that type has 20 fields that come with it. All the fields are the same type and named the same (e.g. there are 119 of Object obj, one for each constant), and I want to run the same methods over them. Since the Objects of the same type are named the same for each constant, I just have them named explicitly in get-er methods.
This worked fine when I just put all 20 fields through the constructor and set them as fields under all the constants. But I realized that if I wanted to make an instance of this Enum class, I'd have to enter in all 20 fields when they are all a set of Objects with unique values. So I then put them as fields under their own respective constant to make it easier to create instances of this enum. But now my methods don't work.
A) I don't really understand why they don't work anymore? B) Is there a way to fix it without putting all the methods under each constant?
Example:
public enum MyEnum { AAA { private MyObject obj = new MyObject (3.0); }, BBB { private MyObject obj = new MyObject (1.5); }, CCC { private MyObject obj = new MyObject (6.5); }, DDD { private MyObject obj = new MyObject (3.5); };
public double getObjVal() { return obj.value(); // it can't find this obj should I move it up to where the constants are declared? } }
I can insert data in database, delete aslo using JSP. But facing problem while updating the information saved in database as m using MySQL 2008. I want to see the bring saved in database with particular username into the updateinfo.jsp form.
I am trying to run a simple program that connects to a mysql database and prints out some fields. I am using Eclipse.
THe problem I am having is on the following line of code.
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
I get an error:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
[Code] ....
I have done some research and from what I have found is that I need to alter the class path to pick up the driver. When I downloaded the .msi I ran it and then the program closed. Where the files are ??? How to locate and import the file so I need to get my program to run?
I have included all the of the source code below.
package mySQLConnect; import java.sql.*; public class Connect { // JDBC Driver name and database URL static final String JDBC_DRIVER = "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"; static final String BD_URL = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/sstbde";
Many times I have read that JSF stores de view state in session and one of the things that are stored are the values of the form fields, right? But these input field values are not stored in session, I mean, they depend of the scope of the managed bean attached to the view. If I have a view and its attached to a view scoped bean with properties for the form fields, the values will dissapear if I go to other view because the bean is view scoped so I cant say the values of the form are stored in session, right?
Here is my code for an inventory program. No matter what I do, I can't get the text fields to display in the program.
The Inventory Program Class
import java.awt.GridLayout; // required to create a grid layout import java.awt.BorderLayout; // required to create a border layout import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; // required for click events
This program is basically complete. It compiles and runs. It is a college course assignment that I pretty much completed but for the last part in which I'm suppose to change the values of all fields and display the modified values using a toString method. Modifying the values of the fields is where I am stuck. I don't think I need to create a new text data file to do this. The instructor only asked that all the values of fields be changed and this was the last part of the assignment so I don't think it involves creating additional ObjectOutputStream and ObjectInputStream objects. I'm getting a NullPointerException error on line 161.Here is the code. I'm also including the input data file.
//create program so that objects of class can be serialized, implements interface Serialiable //create constructor with 4 parameters with accompanying get and set methods, Override toString method //create text file with 5 records, create Scanner object,ObjectOutputStream, and ObjectInputStream //create new ItemRecord object, change values of all fields in ItemRecord object using object's set methods //modify ItemRecord object using toString method
[hightlight =Java]import java.io.Serializable; public class ItemRecord implements Serializable

Here is the data file: A100 99.99 10 Canon PowerShot-135 A200 149.99 50 Panasonic-Lumix T55 A300 349.99 20 Nikon- D3200 DSRL A400 280.99 30 Sony- DSC-W800 A500 97.99 20 Samsung- WB35F
Here is the data file for the modified field values. B100 98.00 10 ABC1010 B200 97.00 15 DEF1020 B300 96.00 10 GHI1030 B400 95.00 05 JKL1040 B500 94.00 01 MNO1050
What should be the code if i want to input a different string in case of the typed string. The case is : I have a predefined string S = "Peter,please answer my question" and now when i input another string inside the text field character by character i want characters from the string S to enter instead of the input string. In short, the input string should be disguised as string S.
I have an addressBook GUI where I have a JList that populates with the contacts names, and once I double click a contacts name I'm wanting to fill the textfields with the contacts corresponding data.
ex) ContactType: Family (enum), Name: Zoidberg, Address: 111 Space Drive, City: New York City, etc...
I've got it to where I select open from the JMenu, it populates the JList, but once I select a contacts name, all the textfields are populated, but only with the contacts name
What am i doing wrong here, and how can i fix it to where it fills out the correct data?
Here's my code so far:
public class AddressBookGUI extends JFrame { private final int WIDTH = 450; private final int HEIGHT = 300; private JLabel currentlySelected; private JTextField contactTypeTextField;
[code]...
I'm certain the logic is messed up near the end where i set all text fields to the index, because no matter what field i want to fill it's at it's going to set it to whatever index I select, but I don't know how to fix it.
I want to call a servlet variable in jsp page textfields.Actually in servlet I fetch a jasper report properties in servlet variables and then this variable call from jsp page and after changing properties values this report saved.my servlet code is:
so how to fetch servlet variable from jsp page textfields on load page and after edit that values then again save this values in jasper report on save button.
I have list of employees in my database and their associated information like employeeId,supervisor and process. I have class named EmployeeDetails having same properties. I am fetching details of all users using below code:
In employeeList, we have list of objects having data of employees. I donot know how to get which object is selected in dropdown and based on that rest of the text fields are populated. Example:
Name ID Supervisor ------------------------------------------------------- Pawan Kumar3033045Vimal Kumar Vimal Kumar3040901Dinesh Hemrajani
If Pawan Kumar is selected from dropdown then '3033045' and 'Vimal Kumar' should get populated.
When i run the program it doesn't show all the text fields and labels and stuff but when i click btnTest_1 and go back to btnTest everything appears...
Java Code:
import javax.swing.*; public class Frame extends JFrame{ private JTextField textField; private JTextField textField_1; public Frame(){ setTitle("Multifunctual Calculator");
How to create text fields, labels and input boxes on a GUI, we haven't covered these in class as of yet, but I want my project to stand out so I'd like to know how to build a GUI now.
how to differ between fields that are not exists to fields that are null? because in my api when someone wants to delete a field he sends null instead of a value. and if he doesnt want to effect this feild he doesnt send it.
I am trying out jsp and servlets now for the first time. I have to insert two data, car code and car name into a mysql table. I got those details using jsp but if I use form, it redirects to another page for insertion. I want the data to be inserted and still remain in same jsp page. I am thinking of using onClick from javascript but as I googled this many places have said it is a bad idea to use jsp inside javascript. If so how can we insert data to mysql table without redirecting to another page?
How can I get id from db table for each column values with java or oracle query? I did get before each column content from file and now i need get the id of this column values from db. I read csv files from folder and then load the data from these files into subfolder, and here with line li = line.split(","); I get the values that i have in csv file and split them and become in li the value name, and then in else block i create a P objekt where i set this values from csv files, and with [I]p.setLid(li); I set the value for all valuenames, and then get these valuenames in separate column with other content from this csv.
My question is, i need to do this with db, and write these csv file values to the table in db (it will be done with another java class), what i need, that to write the ids of these values into the table in db, instead of valuename, and while there is no ids for valuenames in csv files, i need to get the id from the table in db where these are already listed with sequences, and i don't know how can i write in data table the id of this valuenames and other content, this data table should contain the ids of valuenames timestamp values and the ids of the csv files name, i don't know how to do this with the ids, i must get the ids from the db table and then set these on [I]p.setLid(li); where i set early the valuenames, instead of valuenames i should set ids, that will set ids automatically for all these valuenames.
Java Code:
try { while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { if (lc == 0) { li = line.split(",");
[Code] ....
with
Java Code : li = line.split(","); mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
I got the values that then will be given to [I]p.setLid(li); and iterate, but now i want to get id from the table in db where this values stored with id instead of this column values, how can i do it?
How to pass the value of a field in a database from one view to another. I currently have a list of members drawn from a database.
The members view is a list of members. From the list the user clicks view button to view a particular member. This is achieved by using a inputHidden tag with the value of the list of members in a data table.
in the RequestScoped bean I am able to use FacesContext to extract the value of idToken from the requestParameters and create the view for the particular member.
One field in the member view I would like to toggle - "Y" to "N" or vice versa via a commandButton. The issue is I can find no way of passing this single value back to the bean as is.
<td>Active:</td> <td><h:outputText value="#{controllerBean.member.active}" /></td> <td> <h:outputLabel value="To change toggle active button below" /> <h:inputHidden id="actToken" value="#{controllerBean.active}"/> </td> //further down the view <h:commandButton style="float: right" value="Toggle Active" action="#{controllerBean.toggleActive()}"/>
The issue is the value is displayed within the output text - how to pass the value into the inputHidden value.
I am using primeface in this project. I have a database with orders, order details and customers. The index page displays the order details and I click on one of the orders I want the customer details of that order to be displayed. But right now when I click on an order the dialog box that appears is empty. I'm not sure if the problem is with the jsf for the customer class.
The program contains username and password which on submission checks with the database if the details entered are right or wrong....on right details it Displays Welcome (name) and (lastname) parameters from database.
On jsp page i have created table with dynamically added rows now i want to insert the data from dynamic row field into database. How would I get the ids of those dynamically created rows to insert into database using hibernate.
i have a problem, im trying to get some values from a jtable (tabla) and insert them in a mysql database, so i scan the table for some values to know which of the rows i must insert ("s" or "n").
I'm able to insert few rows, but when the last row with "s" or "n" is inserted it launch me a NullPointerException and I dont know why.
