JSP / JSTL :: Fingerprint Enrollment Web Application
Jan 17, 2013I am trying to create a simple web application which will store fingerprint of a person in database. I have a U.Are.U 4500 fingerprint device from Digital Persona. My database is MS SQL Server 2008.
Basically the web app will consist of 2 JSPs. The first JSP AskUser.jsp will ask for a user_id and will have a button Next. A user will type in his/her user_id and then click Next button.
The second JSP EnrollUser.jsp will ask for user's fingerprint and will have a button Save. User will scan his fingerprint and then click Save button which will save the fingerprint in database.
The concern I have is regarding second JSP. How to wait until the user has scan his fingerprint? I mean how will the app know that scan is done? Also can I show the fingerprint on screen when user scan his fingerprint?
J2EE Web Application - Handling Critical Object If It Is Down
Jan 28, 2014In our J2EE web application we have so many critical functionality which is handled by various component. Say if one of the critical object or the respective critical system is down. How we can serve the request and still get the response from those systems? How this can be handled technically through code? I know we can go for service virtualization and create a system which will emulate the behavior of critical object or system. But for that we need to use the respective tools which is quite costly. How the same can be handled using java code , whether we can create a clone of that critical object and still serve the request even though the original critical object is down or can we create a proxy of that critical object? How we can handle it in java through code?

Mar 15, 2014I haven't been able to find a cut and paste working example of how to receive MIDI data from a MIDI device, like my piano, and display something to System.out.There are all sorts of examples for synthesizers, sequencers and sending data to a MIDI device, but I have not been able to find a single example of how to receive MIDI data and just display a simple message.
I just need something simple that works to start playing with it, and understanding how it works. Having a working example would also support understanding the Sound API descriptions. They read like differential equations texts books to me, i.e. not clear at all.
I have a working example of how to poll all devices and getDevice.info, which is supposed to then be used to address a specific MIDI device.
I've also looked at a number of books, in the store and on line.I haven't seen a single example anywhere.the closest I found to working examples was on StackOverflow, but I didn't understand some of the other code in the examples, which may or may not have been working correctly anyway.

Receive input events from a MIDI interface device.
This has suddenly stopped working for me after years of using the Java MIDI software.
I have tested this on two different macbook pro's.
I have a variety of MIDI interfaces from different manufacturers. I can find the devices using MidiSystem.getMidiDevice. But I cannot get them to see any input MIDI events.
I can create events in code and send them to output devices and have them seen by those devices. It's just the input that seems to be broken.
I have tried using previously working software I having been developing for years and I have tried with a very simple test program.

so, everything is working fine . There is only one thing i would like to do now: make it so that i can run the server from my computer and then others can run the client from theirs and we will be able to chat . So I tried:
In the client code on line 56 is says:
connection = new Socket("localhost",7777);
So I changed "localhost",7777 to "myip",7777)
But when i run the server on my computer and run the client on another computer i get this error:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
Why is the connection getting refused? is it for security reasons? so hackers cant connect to me or something? And is there a way to tell your computer to allow that client to connect?
Getting TIE In Connect 4 Game?

Connect Four Game
Nov 25, 2014Our assignment is to make a version of the classic 'Connect Four' game, where we need to construct a GUI that shows the current state of the game and instead of having a winner once a player has four chips in a row, the game needs to continue until no chips can be placed anymore.We currently get stuck in the GUI part. Running it right now results in a board with empty spaces only. Also after choosing a column to place, the board remains empty.
Our question: How do we get the board filled with the right color of chips at the right place?We know the 'ArcsPanel'-class (almost at the bottom of the code) is wrong, but we don't know what to do to make it right.
