View RepliesWhy is my create jar file programatically not working? So doing this does create a jar file. When I run the jar file via command line, it gives me "Could not find or load main class ...". I'm not sure exactly why. I took some code i found here: java - How to use JarOutputStream to create a JAR file? - Stack Overflow and apparently it didn't specify the main class so I specifically added it myself. am i doing something wrong? And btw, the file (that contains all the class files) do not have any directories in them. so it's essentially just one folder with a bunch of class files in there. below is the code.
I had the commons-io-2.4 jar referenced into my build path that can be downloaded here: Commons IO - Download Commons IOreason i guess i added to that, though i'm not sure if it was necessary or not, was because it has a file filter which can tell which files are hidden or not and thing is without it it was adding like DS_STORE(which is hidden and i guess unnecessary) to the jar. not sure if this logic is right but just letting you know.

import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileFilter;

I want to create and write to a excel file from a java program. I found a tutorial online and wrote a java file as under:
Java Code: import java.io.File;
import java.util.Date;
import jxl.*;
import jxl.write.*;
public class jExcel{
WriteableWorkbok workbook = Workbok.createWorkbook(new File("output.xls"));
public static void main(String args[]){
WriteableSheet sheet = workbook.createSheet("First Sheett",0);
Label label = new Label(0,2,"A label record");
sheet.addCell(label);
[code].....
But when I compile this file, I get errors telling that package jxl does not exists and so on. Do I need to download it ?
I am trying to create a java file that will print out the temperature in Fahrenheit. This is my code.
import java.util.Scanner;
public class TemperatureConverter {
public static void main(String[] args) {
float temperature;
Scanner in= new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.printf("Enter temperature in degrees Celsius: ");
temperature = in.nextInt();
//Getting a red X next to this line.
fahrenheit = temperature * 9/5 +32;
//Add this line
System.out.printf(+temperature + " degrees Celsius is " + fahrenheit + " degrees Fahrenheit.");
//System.out.println(temp1 + " degrees celsius is " + fahrenheit + " degrees Fahrenheit.");
}
}
I need to know what I am doing wrong. Using Eclipse as my platform. I have entered comments where I am getting red X's.
The error I get when I run the program.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problems:

I am Using NetBeans to develop a Desktop application in Java. I am strong some project related data files in text
format in my local folder(eg: E:securestorage) . I plan to store the same in google cloud . How it can done ..
i am fairly new to java but have made a few projects so i do know most aspects that would allow me to complete the task its just i have been stuck at the same place now for 2 days.The project is to create a java program that can read specific data within a csv file to work out the averages etc. The csv file is a database of different weather stats . an example of the first 12 months of the csv file is below..
[CSV FILE]
year ,month,average rainfall etc
1946 15.70.616108.131.5
1946 28.23.56111.871
1946 38.82932.9 102.9
1946 414.16.3029.2 150.5
1946 513.96060.7 143.6
[code]...
I know that once the data is indexed i can than use a double to find the average of the 12 specific pieces of data and so on. once this is complete i should than be able to transfer the data to a simple graph.
I have added a Simple Jar file in Eclipse Proect->BuildPath->jar file but class Inside that are not showing in My project this is my Project Structure and I have all ready checked in Order and Export..But jar file is not working.
View Replies View RelatedI am working on a project that requires me to build a database with random access file, representing products, the base product contains a name (about 30 characters), a price (double), and a quantity (integer). I have worked on this project for probably 15+ hours and have tried so many things and feel like I've barley made any progress...
The part i am really struggling with is taking the data from the text file and creating an object array with it using the product class. Once ive accomplished that, i have to use that data to create a random access file with the data. Here is the base Product class that must be used to create the objects for the array.
public class Product
{
public String pName;
public String stringName;
public double price;
public int quanity;
[Code]...
these continue for about 40-50 entries, they are not seperated by a blank line though i had to add those so it would display correctly, each entry is on its own line with name seperated with spaces, then price after a comma, then quanity after the second comma.....

I am new to java and I am creating a system that will ask the user to create a file that will store to a text file, Once the user created the file I have a class that will let the user input the subject name that has been created, However, I keep on getting this java.util.nosuchelementexception.Here's my code:
public void display_by_name()
{
String id, name,total;
String key[]=new String[30];
String value[]=new String[30];
int i=0;
[code]....
Well my code is supposed to ask for an input file and then (ex: input.txt), read the input file and create an output.txt file with the anagram for the words in the file. Also it should be displayed on the screen. However my code doesn't display the anagram on screen or the output file!
Heres is the code:
import java.io.*;
import java.lang.*;
import java.util.*;
/* This program will read a file given by the user, read the words within the file and determine anagrams of the given words. If the file that the user inputs is empty, then the program will output "The input file is empty."
* The program will read the file line by line, counting the total number of words read. If there are more than 50 words, "There are more than 50 words."
* will be printed, and the program will terminate. After each line is read, the words in the line will be separated,punctuation characters will be removed, and upper case characters will be switched to lower case.
* If any word is larger than 12 characters, that word will not be considered in the total amount of words in the file and it will not be sorted.
* After each word is read, the letters will be sorted and stored into an array containing each
* word's 'signature'. After all the words have been read, words will be printed to the output file on the same line based upon their signature.

public class Anagram {
//Creating constants for maximum words in file and maximum chars in word
public static final int MAX_CHARS = 12;
public static final int MAX_WORDS = 50;

I'm having problems with using the h:inputFile tag with JSF 2.2 and Glassfish 4.0 on Eclipse. The file uploads work when the enctype is set to "multipart/form-data" in the h:form tag, but AJAX will not work. When I leave out the encType (defaults to "application/x-www-form-urlencoded") AJAX works but the uploads do not work, and in fact Glassfish crashes and generates the message:
The request content-type is not a multipart/form-data
Likewise I'm having the same problems with the PrimeFaces file upload tag p:fileUpload. In a JSF 2.0 it works correctly, but with JSF 2.2 it's giving the same problems and generates the message above.
When I start up Eclipse it tells me that Mojarra 2.2.0 is installed. Is this the source of the problem, and if so, how do I install a later version of Mojarra?

Working on a program that creates an array from a file, organizes it in various ways, and then prints the results. Right now I'm specifically having trouble with the printAry() method - when I try to run it, I receive a NullPointerException for the active line in printAry() (EDIT: line 102). Not sure which sections are important to this, so I will include the client class and most of the service. I realize that the amount of documentation I included is not necessary, but it is required for the class.

private int count;
private Lab3StudentData [] studentAry = new Lab3StudentData[50];

I had a game written in a 500x400 window using JFrame and a threaded JPanel. It used KeyListener to detect user input and worked just fine, problem was it was very click dependent and therefore I wanted to put it into fullscreen mode so I would no longer come across the problem of clicking outside the window and being taken out of the game. But when I ported the game to Full Screen Exclusive Mode the KeyListener no longer seems to be working and I have no clue why. I tried using KeyBindings as well, that code didn't work and is left commented out in the FSEM code.Here is my code for the windowed application:
import java.awt.Container;
import javax.swing.*;
public class Main extends JFrame{
private GamePanel panel;
public Main(){
panel = new GamePanel();

I am trying to use the JList to display a list of students. Now, each student has a first name, last name and course taken. each courses taken by the student has its' own name, level and idNumber. For now, I am just trying to create my own custom JList model for the students. I have the custom model as well as the button event calling it. Unfortunately, when I click the button to display the student info added, the component is NOT fired up!..
I am not sure what I have done wrong regarding creating the component because I can display the information on the console and the list contains everything I have added but just to display it on the component is NOT working. I have broken the codes into sub classes, you can add the classes to the same package or create sub packages to insert individual classes.
The student class
public class Student {
private String studentName;
private String studentID ;
public String getStudentName(){
return studentName;

I am currently writing two java classes (client and server). The client takes an input number form keyboard and sends it to the server. The server then multiplies this number by two and sends it back to the client. The numbers should also be printed to screen along the way, for example if I input the number 3 I should get
"From Client: 3" "From Server: 6"
They should continuously do this unless a negative number is received by the client, say for example the number -3 is sent to the server and it returns -6.
The code I have for the two classes so far is:
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
import java.nio.ByteBuffer;
import java.util.Scanner;
class Client {
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
DatagramSocket clientSocket = new DatagramSocket();
[Code] .....
Currently, when I run the program all I get is an output of the number first entered. I am aware it requires a loop but I don't know where and what the condition should be.
Also if I wanted to adapt this so that it would take the integer from client and subtract two at the server and return to client who sends back to server to keep subtracting two unless it reaches a negative number at which point the client will terminate the program - how might I do this.
I do realise there needs to be a while loop in the above code, but I wanted to test it sent the number from client to server and its not doing it. All I get is a print screen of 'enter number' and then the number I enter.
I am currently working on a Java project, below are my attempts at coding so far:
public class MyZoo
{
// zoo identifier
private String zooId;
// a number used in generating a unique identifier for the next animal to be added to the zoo
private int nextAnimalIdNumber;
// zstorage for the Animal objects
private TreeMap<String, Animal> animals;
[Code] ....
I currently cannot get the printAllAnimals() method to work as it should.
When executing the method printAllAnimals(), it does not do anything, when it is supposed to use the Collection object c, so that animals stored in the zoo can easily be checked.
