How To Get Input Strings To Print Out After Turn Them Into Tokens
Jun 23, 2014
how do i get the inputed strings to print out after i turn them into tokens ? I need it to ask for a number and then multiple lines of strings, turn them into tokens, then print them out.
import java.util.*;
public class TokenDriver{
public static void main(String [] args){
// TokenStore words = new TokenStore();
String[] tokens = new String[300];
[code].....
also as a follow up how would use an array in an other class (TokenStore) to save the typed line information
public static void main(String[] args) { String[] a = new String[5]; //String input = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "enter input"); Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in);
[Code] ....
I am trying to type in 5 strings from java console and print them all out. I am using a "/" as a delimiter. My problem is that it does not print any output after I type strings separated by "/" like this: hello/gea/cae/eaf/aer and press enter. It works if I use JOptionPane but from the console its not working. I want to use the console instead of JOptionPane for this one.
I have an Array of objects that contains strings. I am new to Java and have read books, the Java docs, and searched the Internet for my problem to no avail. How can I get my strings to print in a list so that the user can select an object to manipulate its attributes? I have a class called Instruments and created 10 guitar objects. Here is the code:
Instrument [] guitar = new Instrument[10]; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { guitar[0] = new Instrument("Guitar 1"); guitar[1] = new Instrument("Guitar 2"); guitar[2] = new Instrument("Guitar 3"); guitar[3] = new Instrument("Guitar 4");
I am having a great deal of frustration trying to use the scanner to get user input from the eclipse console. Here is what I am trying to do.
Print a menu for the user with options, take that (1) char input and run it into a switch statement for processing. I have that done and it is working fine.
If the user chooses to enter strings for storage, They are instructed to enter their string and press enter to complete that string entry. Then enter the next string and press enter, etc.
So I have a While loop for this. Get the scanner input, store it in the LinkedList, get the next scanner input, etc. I get the scanner string and store it in a Linked list. That works fine. The user is instructed to simply enter a blank string to end the entry procedure, like just press Enter on the new line without typing a new string.
The problem is the scanner doesn't seem to return anything for me to Test to close this procedure. How do I TRAP the fact that the user just pressed enter so I can end my procedure? I have tried next() and nextLine() and reset(), etc. And I am getting knowhere.
I am working on an assignment where I initially have to take as input a number. That number will be the number of strings the user is going to type. As they are typed, they are to be sorted alphabetically, then printed. It took me a while to get this far, and I am stuck on how to properly invoke the other methods in main. There has to be at least three methods: main, one to do the sorting, and one to print the new array. I'm quite sure there are mistakes in my code, but this is definitely a challenge for me. Here is the code. Keep in mind that the methods being invoked are blank on purpose.
I am not allowed to use the Arrays, Arraylist or Collection class. This is basically to test my ingenuity and to see how arrays actually work.
import java.util.*; public class Sort_as_Inserted { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("Enter number of elements to be sorted: "); String element_number = input.nextLine();
I've been trying to get my program to not accept empty strings when the user inputs, but I'm having some difficulties. I've tried for loops, as well as while loops.
import java.util.Scanner; public class GasMileage { /** * displayIntro * This method displays the introduction to the user */ public static void displayIntro()
I am trying to do is get a user to input their name into the system. Once the user has inputted the name into the system, the system should check to see if the name entered matches "alice". If this is true then the system should print "welcome to the system alice". If it is not alice it should not do anything.
Here is the code I have so far... The fault/ error seems to be with the sInput string in the IF statement.
import java.io.*; public class Hellohuman { public static void main (String[] args) { try { InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(System.in);
I have a problem with my code. It gives me the error I put as title:
backgroundA.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener(){ public void onClick(View view){ if (j < 2){ int randomInt1 = random1.nextInt(Deck.length()); int drawableIDA = Deck.getResourceId(randomInt1, -1);
[Code] ....
This error is in the first line and I have also one in the last, where eclipse looking for a @ (O.o). Also I will insert the variable choice1.
final Button choice1 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.A);
I am trying to make lexical phase of compiler. But when I try to add character (after validating them, whether they are character or not) to token array I cannot do it.
public class Main { static int counter; static char ch[]; static char c; static char token[]; static String read;
I am new to Java and have read books, the Java docs, and searched the Internet for my problem to no avail. I have an Array of objects that contains strings. How can I get the object's strings to print in a list so that the user can select that object to manipulate its attributes? For example, the user can select "Guitar 1" from a list and manipulate its attributes like tuning it, playing it, etc. I have a class called Instruments and created 10 guitar objects.Here is the code:
Instrument [] guitar = new Instrument[10]; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { guitar[0] = new Instrument("Guitar 1"); guitar[1] = new Instrument("Guitar 2"); guitar[2] = new Instrument("Guitar 3"); guitar[3] = new Instrument("Guitar 4"); guitar[4] = new Instrument("Guitar 5"); guitar[5] = new Instrument("Guitar 6");
I have a ListView with ListCells that are complicated things containing other nodes. I want to turn of ListView selection behavior (so not allow selections) without turning of events to the ListCell nodes in the ListView.
write a program which request two weight in kilograms and grams and print the sum of the weight, if the weight are 3kg 500g and 4kg 700g, the program should print 8kg 200. this is what I have so far and there is an error that I can't see:
Scanner input = new Scanner (System.in); double weight, kg, grams; int sum; System.out.println("Please enter weight"); weight = input.nextDouble();
[Code] ....
um = (3kg5oog + 4kg700g)-(this line here is where the error is, it supposed to sum the two statement and print out 8kg 200g but i keep getting the red line, dont know where the error is, dont know if it is the coding or what, where error is, where the coding is not right, I am totally lost here right now, this is the if statement.
i am a french student in France and i am studying informatics . For validating my term at the beginning of January i have a projet in JAVA to do called YAHTZEE. It's a game which i have to code WITHOUT USING AN OBJECTS. I already started the coding, i did all the beginning stuff ( to call the number and the names of players, to roll the 5 dices, i made the code for all the scoring points too(rules) ) but i can't do the table score which updates the new scores after each turn ( 3 turns in total) .
im trying to make a small program where the user enters their selection choice and it prints out the corresponding information. for example, if they choose "3", i want "3. Soup de Jour" to print out
import java.util.Scanner; public class rest { public static void main(String[] args)
I have to do a small program about parking. In the 2-d array (parking lot), contains different kinds of cars, the user have to :
1)enter which car he wanna move, 2)what direction (w,a,s,d) and after that, 3) how many moves( not out of bound) he wants to make, and finally 4) we print out the new parking lot for his next move
And i am stuck at how to move the car to corresponding position and then prompt user for the next move?
For example:
I want to move A to the right by 1 (d)
擷取.PNG print result: 擷取1.PNG
How do I do that? The code that i have right now
public class CarParkGame { public static void main( String [] args) { String carPark[][] = new String [6][6] ; carPark[0] = new String[] {"A","A","A","0","0","0"}; carPark[1] = new String[] {"b","0","0","0","0","c"}; carPark[2] = new String[] {"b","X","X","0","0","c","<exit>"};
I want to write a program that accepts user input and then prints its average in a serial way.
Suppose i enter 5. I should get result 5 first time then i input 10 then it should return the average of (5 and 10) and then i enter say 20 it should return average of (5,10 and 20) and so on.
I have to write a program that inputs a 5 digit integer from the keyboard and prints if the input number is a palindrome or not. I got it to work, but when my result prints it says "0 is a palindrome" or "0 is not a palindrome". How can I get rid of the 0 and replace it with the number input by the user?
import java.util.Scanner; public class Palindrome { public static void main(String[] args) { int number; int digit; int temp;
I'm writing a java program with opengl and I'm trying to get it where the user would select something like lighting on in a JMenu and then it would turn the lighting on in the house/barn... I have a method called LightOn that I put gl.glEnable(gl.GL_LIGHT0); but it just doesn't seem to turn on when I call it from the action performed... Is there something I'm missing from my code that I'm supposed to use instead since I have tried it with a boolean.. So the boolean starts off as false and when the JMenuItem is clicked the actionPerformed will turn the boolean to true and call the method LightOn. In the display method I have what the light is supposed to be
I have a college question ask me to write a class StringRevert which does the following:
-prompting user for an interger n -creating an array of n string -repeatedly read character string from user input and store them in the array until end of array is reached or user input -quit(quit should not saved in array) -print the string from array in reverse order, from last enter to first enter. -assume user always supplie correct input
This is what I've done so far but how to get it working.
import java.util.Scanner; public class StringRevert { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("enter value of n: "); int n1 = in.nextInt(); String[] n = new String[n1];
So I'm learning java from a website and I was tasked with creating a simple program which allows the user to enter a series of integers, then finally when they decide to input a non-integer the program will print the maximum and minimum values of the integers they entered. So for example if they entered 5, 4, 3 and 2 then enter a non-integer the program would output 5 (maximum value), then 2 on a new line (minimum value).
Here is my code:
import java.util.Scanner; public class MaxMinPrinter { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); int max = Integer.MIN_VALUE; int min = Integer.MAX_VALUE;
[Code] ....
And this is what the output looks like:
Actual output ------------------------------------------- Enter an integer: 5 - 10 - - Enter an integer: -4 - 8 - -6 - - Enter an integer: 11 - -1 - - Enter an integer: q - -1 - -6
When it's supposed to look like this:
Expected output ------------------------------------------- Enter an integer: 5 Enter an integer: 10 Enter an integer: -4 Enter an integer: 8 Enter an integer: -6 Enter an integer: 11 Enter an integer: -1 Enter an integer: q 11 -6
Create a program to input the length and width of a rectangle and calculate and print the perimeter and area of the rectangle. To do this you will need to write a Rectangle class and a separate runner class. Your program should include instance variables, constructors, an area method, a perimeter method, a toString method, accessor and mutator methods, and user input. Your runner class should include 3 Rectangle objects. One default rectangle, one coded rectangle, and one user input rectangle. All methods should be tested in the runner class.
This is my code:
import java.util.Scanner; public class Rectangle { double length; double width; public Rectangle() {
[Code] ...
What have I done??? I have created this program using the few different resources with which I am supplied, but I don't understand the resources.
I had to make a program that allowed the user to enter the number of students and the students names and grades and then print out the name with the grade in descending order. right now I only have it where it prints the names out in descending order. how do I get it the print out with the grade?
Here is my code
import java.util.*; public class Grades { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("Enter the number of students: "); int numofstudents = input.nextInt();
So I'm trying to create a simple user database that I could eventually turn into a login system. I created a simple table on MySQL with a name and address for the sake of simplicity. I tried to create simple statement inside my main method that would connect to my MySQL server and when I run my program I get a ClassNotFoundException from "org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"..Here is what I have in my main method thus far:
public static void main(String args[]) { try { Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"); //Load the driver Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/data", "root", ""); //Connect /* conn.createStatement().execute("CREATE TABLE people (" + "id int(64) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT," + "name varchar(255) NOT NULL," + "address varchar(255) NOT NULL," + "UNIQUE (id)," + "FULLTEXT(name, address))");
[code]....
I downloaded Connector/J in the the binary .zip form and extracted it to my C: drive and put the .jar file into my java directories lib folder. I also added the directory of the .jar file into my CLASSPATH and I still get the exception.
