While Loop To Perform Multiple Steps

Feb 12, 2015This has three different classes in a package and the program itself is supposed to read and perform operations obtained from a txt file. However, I'm not even sure how to get it to perform the operations from the text file. I know that it can read the file as I was able to get the program to print the text found in the file when I ran the program with a test print to make sure that all content was being read. However, I am clueless when it comes to how to get the program to look at the text as commands.
Here is the piece of code that I am not sure where to go from as far as telling the program to read the text and perform the tasks listed.

Automated Web Browser To Perform Specific Tasks
Jul 14, 2014I need to know how to automate a web browser (either Chrome, Firefox or Safari) to perform the following task.
Take a word from a .txt file housed on my hard drive,
1) put it into a search engine,
2) load the results,
3) click on/ open the first result,
4) open up an new tab and perform steps 1-3 again but with the next word from the .txt file. 4-5 second pauses are needed in between each step.
Additionally, I would like to automate the browser to close all the open tabs when a full stop is pulled from the .txt file.
I am using a macbook and 10.6.8 OS.

Adding Inputs To Table With Columns And Perform Calculations Later

Nothing major, but one thing I want it to do is accept a few inputs, and take those and add them to a table with columns for use later (printing, calculations, etc). I was originally looking at something like Jtable, but that looks just like an excel spreadsheet done Java, so not what I'm looking for.
I'm looking for something that's read-only, where I can insert data from input fields, and then perform calculations with the column data later.

Read Text File And Perform Operation On Specific Columns
Dec 9, 2011I am somewhat of a java newbie (learned it awhile back and just getting back to programming some again.) I have a text file of data much larger than this, but here are the first ten rows and first 10 columns.

I can read and write all the data back out to files. But I am not sure about a few things.
First would it be best to use BufferedReader and OutputStream such as:

Second, I was then going to initialize an array but I might have 30 or more columns of data, of which I might perform and output only 10 columns to my output.txt file so is this a good way?
Third, I only want to perform operations (such as average the data, convert units or multiply two columns together) on 10 of the 30 plus columns and print out results to output.txt file. For example, In testdata.txt file above, I want to skip first seven columns. I then want to take column 8 and multiply by 100 then divide by 3 and output result to output file. I want to do same for column 9. Column 10 I want to multiply by different number (by 3.5).

Below i have normal button (named Update) with "update" set as ActionCommand. This button after clicked should check which value from list is selected and perform different operations for that elements. But it's harder than i thought.

Jul 18, 2014I've beginning a new assignment and would like some feedback on my outline for the program. You are to design a simple calculator using the stack data structure to perform additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions. The user may enter an arithmetic expression in infix using numbers, parentheses and arithmetic operations (+, -, *, /). After an expression is entered, its postfix or prefix notation is displayed and then the result of the expression. You are required to design your own infix to postfix and infix to prefix conversions.
The professors example includes: SinglyLinkedList implementation, a Stack that implements Stack interface and extends SinglyLinkedList, a Node class, and StackApp -- in addition to the main class and the prefix/post-fix classes.
(The equation is entered/stored as a string variable)

(1.) Get the user input:
- evaluate the user input and use a stack to determine the correct prefix/post-fix notation.
- from the stack, pop each item:

(2.) Display the list in both notations to the user.
(3.) Perform the calculation.Do you think it will be alright to calculate the original equation that was entered? It seems too much to then design a class that will then cycle through the polish notation and calculate according to that format.
Complicated ArrayList Function - Moving Between Fields Which A Player Can Perform Based On Game Rules
May 27, 2014I have been working on this function and i can't get it to work. It's a little bit complicated so let me first explain what this is about:
1. As a little exam in my studies i have to program a halma console game with KI an stuff.
2. Everything is finished and works except for the Move-Calculation.
3. A Move is a Move from Field a to Field b which a player can perform in one round based on the game rules (Careful: We are not using the standard halma rules, we use different ones).
4. Class Move consists of the Starting Cell where the Figure before the Move stands and a target Cell where the figure will stay on at the Move end. It may include an Array of serveral Cells, the stop cells which the figure passes from start -> target since several jumps can be performed in one Move.
Valid Examples for Moves:
a -> b (From Field a to Field b)
d -> f through g,h,i (From Field d to Field f through the Field g,h,i
My Move Calculation where all possible Moves are calculated for a given figure consists of 2 parts. An expand() function which will generate all possible moves (works perfectly) and a jumpFix() function which isn't working properly.
Example:
After expand() I'm getting something like that:
a -> b
b -> c
c -> d
s -> t
This is however not finished, because the first 3 Moves are actually 1 Move. Because the player can Move from a -> d in one turn because those 3 are consecutive Move. The fixed Move would look like that:
a -> d through b,c
jumpFix() is also perfectly working for that situation, however there is one specific situation when it doesn't work. Let's say we have this situation.
a -> b
b -> c
c -> d
b -> e
e -> f
f -> g
s -> t
Then the only valid jumpFix() output would be:
a -> d through b,c
a -> g through b,e,f
s -> t
However i can not get it to work yet. Note: It definitely needs to be iterative, not rekursive else i would get an StackoverflowError.
