Jun 28, 2014the number of lines that can be printed on a paper size, the point size of each character in a line, whether lines are double-spaced or single-spaced,the top and the bottom margins of the paper. assume that all characters are of the same point size, and all lines are either single-spaced or double-spaced. note that 1 inch = 72 points. make over, assume that the line are pointed along the width of the paper. for example, if the length of the paper is 11 inches and the width is 8.5 inches,then the maximum length of a line is 8.5 inches.write a program that calculates the number of characters in a line and the number of lines that can be printed on a paper based on following input from the user.
a.the length and width, in inches, of the paper.
b.the top, bottom, left, and right margins.
c.the point size of a line.
d. if the lines are double-spaced, then double the point size of each character

May 26, 2014I am rather new to Swing, and I am building a game right now in which I need to display a pop-up window as a reminder for what commands exist within the game. I created a class extending JFrame for this and added all the information I need. However, for some reason, no matter how many different ways I try to set the size of this window (setSize(w, h), pack(), using a different layout, adding the compnents to a JPanel first and setting the preffered size of that, then adding the JPanel to the JFrame), it doesn't work. Instead of a window of my requested size, I get a tiny, maybe 100 x 100 pixel window that needs to be resized in order for its contents to be visible.

Apr 13, 2014I have a simple application where I display a JFrame. I want to maximize the JFrame size, so I have the code this.setExtendedState(MAXIMIZED_BOTH); in the constructor. How do I find the dimensions of this JFrame in its extended state though? I tried this.getSize().Height , this getSize().getHeight() and this.getHeight()? None of them work because they just return a value of 0. And what is the difference in all these statements in terms of what they do?

The next step of the program is to make references from paper to paper, and be able to add as well as list those reference, and i am lost as to where to go.I currently hold my instances of my paper class (the different papers I have stored) in a hash map. With the title being the key.
Is there a method as to where I can link keys? Do i need to use a seperate data structure? Or maybe add a new attribute to the paper class? I have attached the program as a zip file, If you open the zip file then its the methods in the Research SupportApp class .

Mar 29, 2014I am designing simple app which would store data about users and generate standard letter and print sun ray card for this user. I know how to build UI, how to validate it etc. I know how to store data in database, but I don't know how to deal printing.
I have MS doc template documents they contain jpg pictures, and unusual formatting Is there a way of actually pulling those templates and do the merge and perform print operation? Feb 10, 2015I have some troubles rendering images to the printer, any resolution does not work, even 72 in PDF printer does not work, the image is crappy.
I use the following code but the result is not good. I mean the image quality is not acceptable.

How To Print PDF In Java - Send Document To Printer Upon User Request
Apr 24, 2008I've been googling information on how to print a pdf in java, and it seems that the java print api is used more for printing from a swing app. What I'm needing to do is send a pdf document to the printer upon user request. I would like my app to work as follows - User selects pdf to be printed- Program determines pages to be printed and deducts amount from user account- If sufficient money, program sends job to printer automatically without popping up the print screen.- If printed successfully, then program tells user it was printed. I'm able to figure out the rest of the pieces, in regards to user input and determining pages of the pdf, except I don't see how I will be able to print the pdf.
I've tried to use this code

But all that I get is junk characters spread across 15 or so pages, for a pdf file that simply says "Hello World". I can open the pdf file on my computer, and print it ok, but when using the above code, it just prints out junk. How I might need to format or setup the pdf so that I can print it correctly. My program could be run on any number of Linux systems, with a multitude of printer types.
