Complicated ArrayList Function - Moving Between Fields Which A Player Can Perform Based On Game Rules
May 27, 2014I have been working on this function and i can't get it to work. It's a little bit complicated so let me first explain what this is about:
1. As a little exam in my studies i have to program a halma console game with KI an stuff.
2. Everything is finished and works except for the Move-Calculation.
3. A Move is a Move from Field a to Field b which a player can perform in one round based on the game rules (Careful: We are not using the standard halma rules, we use different ones).
4. Class Move consists of the Starting Cell where the Figure before the Move stands and a target Cell where the figure will stay on at the Move end. It may include an Array of serveral Cells, the stop cells which the figure passes from start -> target since several jumps can be performed in one Move.
Valid Examples for Moves:
a -> b (From Field a to Field b)
d -> f through g,h,i (From Field d to Field f through the Field g,h,i
My Move Calculation where all possible Moves are calculated for a given figure consists of 2 parts. An expand() function which will generate all possible moves (works perfectly) and a jumpFix() function which isn't working properly.
Example:
After expand() I'm getting something like that:
a -> b
b -> c
c -> d
s -> t
This is however not finished, because the first 3 Moves are actually 1 Move. Because the player can Move from a -> d in one turn because those 3 are consecutive Move. The fixed Move would look like that:
a -> d through b,c
jumpFix() is also perfectly working for that situation, however there is one specific situation when it doesn't work. Let's say we have this situation.
a -> b
b -> c
c -> d
b -> e
e -> f
f -> g
s -> t
Then the only valid jumpFix() output would be:
a -> d through b,c
a -> g through b,e,f
s -> t
However i can not get it to work yet. Note: It definitely needs to be iterative, not rekursive else i would get an StackoverflowError.

Sep 29, 2014I have a jsp with an img tag whose src is set to request a servlet to display a chart. This is called from another jsp form where user can select various filters. The first time the request is made all works great. but if the user changes the filter settings and and makes the servlet request a second time the chart stays the same. I have verified the new filter values are being set but the servlet is only being called on the initial request.at the head or called servlet I have(I also call a jquery empty on the div that holds the chart between requests. at the moment it just displays the former chart). It is like it is using cache:

Jun 24, 2014I am building an application that has two types of users. While some of the fields (ie: username, email address, password) are the same for both user types, other fields are different for each user type.
Therefore, I would like to split up the process of registering (ie: writing the user info to database) into two parts:
1) registering the common fields among both user types (servlet 1)
2) registering the specific fields based on the user type that is registering (servlet 2a and servlet 2b).
Therefore, once servlet 1 is processed, I wish to forward the request to servlet 2a or 2b depending on what type of user is registering.
I wish to do this since I will have other parts of my application that will make use of servlets 2a and 2b as well. Is this possible to do (redirect request parameters from jsp to servlet and then to another servlet)?

1.In struts for example the Action classes are singletons and I think is the way it has to be because they contain business logic and is the same logic for every user but in JSF because of you mix properties from a form and methods with business logic, these beans have to be request scoped like the above one but is very wierd that a bean which contains business logic(saveUser()....) be request scoped;I dont see it effective, is like creating a new servlet each time you want to save a user but I think is the way JSF works, right?
2 To avoid the mixing of form properties in a bean with business logic, some people say to have the form beans request scoped and actions beans session scoped.
- Is this right?
- How then can you get the request form bean in the action bean?
- The scopes in JSF are request, session and view so you cannot create singleton action beans, the best you can get is a session action bean, right?. Once again I dont see the point of creating action beans with session scoped,they should be application scoped if it existed
Servlets :: Not Seem To Work For First Login Request
Mar 26, 2014After confirmation to the login details I added new cookie having logging information and then dispatched this request to controller servlet where this cookie is checked if it is present then user is forwarded to a particular page. Otherwise is redirected to the sign in page. Now the problem is when we add cookies then it is added into "response" object and when we get cookies we get them from "request" object. So for the first time redirection to controller servlet "response" object would not have this cookie as it is not available in "request" object. But will be available for later requests.
My question is what is the way to get this cookie in the first request. Or is there any way to send refresh like response to the browser so that this cookie is added??

Jan 29, 2015We are starting to deploy virtual desktops in our factory.I have a file upload form that works on conventional desktops but fails on the virtual machines. Notice the lifecycle parameter is not being passed to servlet on these virtual machines but does get passed when ran from standard desktop machine.
