View RepliesWhere can I learn or how can I, being the most efficient way known to do so, create a folder outside my JAR file with the java source code, this then will copy YAML documents from my JAR file to that folder, then I need to read the YAML documents some way. I'm making an addon for a game, I am using an API that allows you to make a config.yml easily, and add and read entries from it, but I've read that I need to make my own methods to be able to create additional YAML documents.
I don't exactly know what to type in google to perhaps find such a page, but I did try to find a tutorial page about this or something and couldn't.
I've partially figured out how to create a folder, but I have a problem, how can I RETURN one directory to make the folder, I don't want to make the folder in the JAR file I want to make it just outside the Jar file in the same folder that the Jar file is at.
I want to create a Sharepoint Stubbing using java api by, replacing the real files with a smaller file containing only the information necessary to retrieve the original file. Now the real file can be store anywhere and in any format as long it can be restored in a timely manner and unmodified.How can we implement this in SharePoint using java.

String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@//<scan>:port/servicename;
I get error 1153, connection refused
but when i use the ip of the rac instead of the scan
String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@//<ip>:port/servicename;
The connection is successful
Is the issue at the application level? or is the problem with the server ....

I get stuck at this part because my for statement has to subtract the number of stones in my pocket (one at a time) and add a stone to the pond (one by one) at the same time.I can get the pond stones to increase until the max amount of stones with the following:
for (int i = 0; i < stones; i++) {
System.out.println("Pocket:" ? " " + "Pond:" + i);
how to reduce one and add to other. Is it possible to do this in one for statement? I tried to put stones-- in place of the question mark, but that is not working.
I have developed an application using Java JSP and PostgreSQL database which inputs data from users including multiple file uploads in different formats (MS Word, Excel, PDF etc.). The uploaded files are also stored in the database.
My client wants the software to print a report in PDF format which includes all user data entered (in a defined format) along with all the uploaded documents as appendices.
How the system can include all uploaded files into one PDF report?

I am almost in the end of one project and I would like to add some tools that will make the user more friendly with the program so I decide to create something like mini frame in which I will explain every part of my program. Now I am going of course to create a class for example let's say HelpFrame in which I am going to have a lot of categories and the user will choose one of them and with cardLayout I am going to show inside the Frame doc files which explain the current category that user ask for.
So my first thought was to make a frame then use BorderLayout, on the West I am going to add the Panel with the users options and in the Center of the BorderLayout I am going to find a way to display this doc files (if I am going to use JPanels then I will have to use cardLayout so I can change JPanels inside the frame) so my first thought was to create a JEditor or JTextPane and read/open the doc file. Ok that was fine for files with only plain text as I was expected but the problem that I have to deal with is how to open a doc file when this file contains Images and plain text of course?
Is it possible with JEditor or JTextPane? or I have to find another way to do something like that..
I read the JEditor API and I find out about HTML solution (if I have right) but I want to leave this option as the last one cause I am not good at all in HTML
I can create Images rather than doc files and then I can just draw or add that images into JLabel and show them inside the Frame.. but I don't want to do something like that cause I feel like it is the wrong way..
what weapon the user wants to use and set the element of the Player but I can't use defineWeapon() inside of the constructor so what can I do?here's the player class (where I need to set the element which is the second string in the constructor
package netHackDessart;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class Player extends Monster {
public Player()
{
super("player", "null", 18, 6, 150, 4, 1, 6, 1, 8, 1, true, false);

I was trying to do a short program that scans a text for a given word and then tells you how many times that word was repeated in the text. The result was this:
var text = prompt("Write the text to be searched through");
var word = prompt("Write the word to be looked for. Beware of capitals!");
var hits = [];
for (var i = 0; i < text.length; i++) {
if (text[i] === word[0]) {
[Code] ....
However, this doesn't scan the text properly. I think the problem lies in one of the lines from 4 to 8, but, even after thinking quite a lot, I couldn't understand what was it. I thought that by saying that the letter of the text in position [i + k] shuold be equal to the letter of the word in position [k] I could make it work, but it doesn't.
I want to find a certain element in array I have to scan through the array index starting from 0 until I find the number I am looking for. Even in data structures which use hashing like HashMap and Hashtable we will have to scan through the keys until we find the key we are looking for. So what is the use of hashing over index based searching? I mean how is hashing an advantage over an array?

View Replies View RelatedI'm scanning my text and I want to add them into array list, but it is not easy. I want each word store from arrayList of a to z which is arrayList size is 26. Example:
arrayList a store string array of: an, and, apple, ...
arrayList b store string array of: be, become, became.....
.
arrayList z store string array of: zero, zone...
In my class, I create:
private static ArrayList<String[]> words = new ArrayList<String[]>(26); // to store all words
In main, I do while loop to get each words and store in words array,
import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import java.util.LinkedList;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class BinaryTree {

I need to create a program that uses ArrayList to store integers the user inputs, then scan the array for the largest number. I would also like the user to be able to exit this loop if the number 0 is entered.
As you can see below, I'm not sure how to correctly exit the do-while loop. I found this on another forum, but it does not work.
Java Code:
import java.util.*;
public class array {
public static void main(String [] args){
ArrayList<Integer> list = new ArrayList<Integer>();

I am thinking of a project for my university the teachers liked it but I am not sure if its even possible.I am trying to make an andriod app. What I want to do is take a picture of a hand drawn logic circuit (having the AND, OR, NOT ... gates) recognize the gates, and make a circuit in the moblie and run it on all possible inputs.
For this I will have to make a simulator on mobile, that I dont think is the hard part. The problem is how could recognize the gates from a picture. Example of logical circuit is attached ( assume its hand drawn )..I found out that theres a edge detection plugin in java but still I dont think its enought to recognize the gates. Please share any algorithm or any technique or tools that I can use to make this thing.

import java.util.Scanner;
import java.util.Stack;
public class stack {
public static Integer evaluate(String expression) {
Scanner scanner = new Scanner(expression);
Stack <Integer> operands = new Stack<Integer>();

When I input my expression which has spaces between characters e.g.:10 2 8 * + 3 -, it worked; when I put expression which may not add space between each char e.g.: 3 14+2*7/, the error showed:
Enter a postfix expression: 3 14+2*7/

My assignment is to create a hangman game. One of my first difficulties with it is how to scan the string for an input supplied by the user.
Here is my method:
//Guesses that character c is in the secret word.
//Updates all instance variables accordingly,
//and returns true if c is present in the secret word.
public boolean guessCharacter(char c){

View Replies View RelatedI want to develop a Java program that uses OpenScript APIs to test my applications. The OpenScript framework automatically creates the Java Code so I was thinking of either using this code or create my own using the APIs.
I tried both options using NetBeans but I'm getting errors everywhere starting with the library import. I'm pretty new to Java so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of things here. I pasted the code below from the OpenScript framework that want to use in a stand-alone file for your reference.,

I have seen different methods of creating and reading files (specifically text files) in Java. The PrintWriter method or the Formatter with a Scanner to read the file, using a BufferedWriter with a BufferedReader, etc. They will all read/write text files, but from what I understand they do so in different ways. When would it be more beneficial to use a buffered writer than, say, PrintWriter, which is much simpler code-wise? Is there a "best" way to handle i/o in general in Java?
