Initializing Object Outputs Zeroes Instead Of Values Given To It
Oct 30, 2014
public class Check2
{
private int red;
private int green;
private int blue;
public Check2(){
red = 0;
green = 0;
blue = 0;
[Code] .....
And when i uses it in another class named "Check" it returns zeroes :
public class Check
{
public static void main(String[] args) {
Check2 obj = new Check2(125,254,12); // the toString method should return the values i gave it here . but it shows me zeroes instead.
System.out.println("the colors are " + obj.toString());
}
}
simple assignment of values to a previously initialized object?
See the method useModel ()
The idea is, assign the values to the temporary object, data
Then plunk it into this statement:
model.addRow ( data );
Simple enough?
I've been putzing with the syntax for multiple hours, over days, now.
With and without
[0];,
Netbeans keeps giving me: Illegal start of expression data is declared as an array of Object, although, in this case, it does not need to be an array. What is the correct syntax?
Let's pretend I'm working on an RPG. Like in all RPGs, there are items found all throughout the imaginary world. Each player and NPC can obtain an item. My question will concern those items.
In other words, I'd like to use instances of a class in multiple places of the code. Each instance will have its own, individual values of instance variables, with one obvious exception: itemQuantity should have a different value in playerInventory, npcInventory, etc. Also, I'd like a list of all items that can be found in the game. This list doesn't need itemQuantity at all.
class Items { String itemName; float itemWeight; int itemQuantity;
[Code] ....
The question is: should I really make itemQuantity an instance variable of the Item class? It seems as though for each copy of the Item class I should create a separate copy with different value of itemQuantity, but that's not very efficient. Where is the error in my logic?
What's important is that there may be plenty items in a game and a player may be given power to create new items during the course of the game.
I'm working with a project there ill need to enter some values for an Object and for this i'm using JTextField. However some of the variables are of the types double, int and bool. Is there a different method of reading thees types?
for example:
double playTime = this.playTime.getText();
This won't work because playTime is of type double and .getText(); takes a String.
How will i handle this? Id rather not convert from String to Double if its possible.
combo is the private CombinationLocker object I created within the Locker class. Do I need to pass the combo object on to the CombinationLock class? For reason, I do not comprehend, the combination password from the main class is not passing through to the CombinationLock class, and the combination values are all zero.
So I want to write a constructor that creates a new object with the data from the array values. I don't know where to start. It's the last method in the code:
public class Measurements { private double[] values; private double[] newArray; private int n; //numberofvalues private double[] ms; public Measurements(int max) { //constructor
Here is my program. I have to add the outputs from variable 'done' together. It seems to not work inside or outside the loop.
//A program that will find the last/check digit of a Book ISBN number.
import java.util.*; public class ISBN { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner kb = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Enter the ISBN number>"); String isbn = kb.nextLine(); //Even though the ISBN code is a number,
I'm making an armor class. I also made a test for it to ensure it works, but something seems to be wrong. I'm not getting the expect outputs when I ask it to give me a println of the variables.
This is the armor class:
import java.util.Random; public class Armor { //fields CharacterRace charRace; String armorName; public int cost; public int armorBonus; public int armorCheckPenalty; public int arcaneSpellFailChance;
I'm having extreme troubles with my outputs not displaying the correct math. I have everything organized how I want it, it's just not giving me the correct answers.
The code is supposed prompt the user to enter an investment amount and an interest rate and display the future investment amount for years 1-30. The formula for this is:
import java.util.Scanner; public class InvestmentValue { public static void main(String[] args) { // prompt user to enter data Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("The amount invested: ");
[Code] ....
And I have to use a method to do this as it is what we are learning in class right now. A sample output as of now is:
The amount invested: 1000 Annual interest rate: 9 Years Future Value 11.0E15 21.0E27
[Code] .....
And obviously a future investment amount cannot equal infinity.
I feel like the program is written correctly; however, the interactions pane in DoctorJava gives me numbers instead of letters. I am happy that the numbers it gives me is consistent, but it still bothers me and I do not know what to debug.
import java.util.Scanner; public class Monogram { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); String firstName, middleName, lastName; int nameLength=1;
I am new to JSP and I'm having a problem with captcha containing a value in the field when toggling from the first page to another and clicking submit on the second page before entering data to validate the fields and the code just falls through and returns the error "Please enter the correct code". The values returned are (captcha)96043 (code)null, captcha is not null because it is retrieved from session which is the last value captured from the page I'm assuming.
I've used request.getSession().removeAttribute( "captcha" ); before building the page to clear out the values, resetting captcha to null etc.; nothing is working.
My objective is to write a program that calculates the bodyfat of people. The difficult thing is, that the calculations are different for males and females, so I tried to prompt the user to state whether they are male or female, then use and "if" statement to tether their response to the corresponding calculations.
Here's my algorithm:
Here's what I have:
package bodyweight; import java.util.Scanner; public class Weightcalc { static Scanner console = new Scanner(System.in); public static void main(String[] args){
[Code] ....
It keeps telling me that bodyweight is not initialized, but when I do, I get a hell of a lot more bugs on everything telling me they aren't initialized. I just want the program to transfer the user to select inputs, based on whether they are male or female.
Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in); Question question = new Question(); Quiz quiz = new Quiz(); System.out.print("Enter the prompt: "); question.prompt = sc.nextLine();
[Code] .....
Here is the example run that I am trying to achieve:
* 1. Enter the prompt: What is the capital of the USA? * 2. Enter a possible answer: New York City, NY * 2. Is New York City, NY the correct answer (y/n)? n * 3. Enter a possible answer: Pittsburgh, PA * 3. Is Pittsburgh, PA the correct answer (y/n)? n * 4. Enter a possible answer: Washington, DC * 4. Is Washington, DC the correct answer (y/n)? y * 5. Enter a possible answer: Chicago, IL * 5. Is Chicago, IL the correct answer (y/n)? n
The problem is that my for loop runs through correctly the first time, but doesn't seem to react to me initializing my choices array after that. It ends up looking like this:
Enter the prompt: What is the capitol of the USA? Enter a possible answer: New York City, NY Is New York City, NY the correct answer (y/n)?n Enter a possible answer: Is the correct answer (y/n)?
struct myHAI { int id; char celcius[5]; char fahrenheit[5];
[Code] .....
I think the Java code is just a little to kludgey. I have to add 256 records to the 3D array which means I have to call the method 256 times. I'd really like to initialize the class all at once similar to the C struct. But I don't know if that is possible. Thus, any less kludgey way of initializing a 3D array?
This program is basically complete. It compiles and runs. It is a college course assignment that I pretty much completed but for the last part in which I'm suppose to change the values of all fields and display the modified values using a toString method. Modifying the values of the fields is where I am stuck. I don't think I need to create a new text data file to do this. The instructor only asked that all the values of fields be changed and this was the last part of the assignment so I don't think it involves creating additional ObjectOutputStream and ObjectInputStream objects. I'm getting a NullPointerException error on line 161.Here is the code. I'm also including the input data file.
//create program so that objects of class can be serialized, implements interface Serialiable //create constructor with 4 parameters with accompanying get and set methods, Override toString method //create text file with 5 records, create Scanner object,ObjectOutputStream, and ObjectInputStream //create new ItemRecord object, change values of all fields in ItemRecord object using object's set methods //modify ItemRecord object using toString method
[hightlight =Java]import java.io.Serializable; public class ItemRecord implements Serializable

I am writing a program with different screens. At first you have to log in to access the program. So I have a problem with the variables username and password. I can't seem to get theme from the DbConnection class. I suppose it is a basic problem?
In the DbConnection class i have a problem with the returns.
In the Login class i have a problem with the connection.getUsername(); and connection.getPassword();
Here is some code:
class DbConnection package kim.contracts.database; import java.sql.*; public class DbConnection { private Connection conn; private Statement st; private ResultSet rs;
So, this is weird for me because I don't really understand why the BorderLayout class constructor is being initialized as a parameter for the setLayout..
I don't understand that the error occurs when I don't initialize the variable myPoint. Whereas, I initialize the variable myPoint after variable declaration and before place of error.
package enumeration; import java.util.Random; public class Craps {
[Code]....
When I initialize the variable myPoint to zero in its decleration, the error disappear. But why? I have already initialized the variable myPoint in default case before the line of error occured..
i know that int [][] x = new int[2][2] will generate a 2x2 array but I'm looking at a certification mock question and I see double [][] da = new double [3][]. What is the empty [] on the right hand side of the equal sign trying to tell me? Is there some default value?
(A) Restrict the number of output values per line to 3 numbers, (B) Remove Duplicate lines, where the same numbers are duplicated just outputted in a different order. (C) Count the number of outlines (D) Add a fixed column to the outputs that has an ascending count from 1 upwards
I'm trying to achieve. The code is as follows:
package num.com.t1; import java.util.*; import java.util.concurrent.atomic.AtomicInteger; /** * * */ public class NumComT1 { public static void main(String... args) {
I have been trying for days and nights , no compile error , but alot of NPEs error .......
This is my Test program
import java.util.*; public class Test { public static void main (String[]args) { int totalShares = 0 ; double totalCost = 0.0; double totalProfitLoss = 0.0;
[Code] ....
I am expecting a output like this (Which I have error running:
Tracking of Stock : FCS 8 shares has been brought at $37.61 Total shares now 8 at total cost $300.88 33 shares has been brought at $36.31 Total shares now 41 at total cost $1499.11 17 shares has been sold at $42.67 Total shares now 24 at total cost $773.72 19 shares has been sold at $32.31 Total shares now 5 at total cost $159.83 31 shares has been brought at $33.85 Total shares now 36 at total cost $1209.18 28 shares has been brought at $36.37 Total shares now 64 at total cost $2227.54 20 shares has been brought at $35.49 Total shares now 84 at total cost $2937.34 At $36.00 per share, profit is $86.66
Write an application that asks the user to enter his/her first name, last name, birthday, and where you born (all fields type String) and prints their information to the console. Use the techniques discuss in class. The data must be encapsulated. The program must be coded in Notpad++ and compiled in the Command Prompt.
Output should be like this:
Welcome!
What is your first name? Carlos
What is your last name? De La Torre
When is your birthday? 08/12/1979
Where did you born? Puerto Rico
First Name: Carlos
Last Name: De La Torre
Birthday : 08/12/1979
Born in : Puerto Rico
This is what I have so far :
package myinfo; import java.util.Scanner;
public class MyInfo { private String name; private String lastName; private String birthday; private String birthPlace;
