Java Applet - Displaying Output With Text?

View Repliesmy java applet - displaying output with text
View RepliesI'm using JBoss 7.1.1.Final. I'm writing a Spring 3.1.1.RELEASE web application and have a massive amount (~5MB) of text output to send to the browser. I would like the browser to display the output as it is generated, but right now, the browser only displays everything after the servlet's doGet method completes. Here's my method …
@RequestMapping(value = "/mymethod", method = RequestMethod.GET)
public void refreshOrders(final HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException
{
execute(response, myWorker);
}
private void execute(final HttpServletResponse response,
[Code] ....
I set my buffer size to be 1K but that doesn't do anything.
I want to display a picture but it isn't working:
public class BildApplet extends Applet {
Image car;
public void init() {
this.setBackground(new Color(200, 200, 255));
car = this.getImage(getDocumentBase (), "redcar.gif");
[Code] ....
Why not?
I have a super class and an inherited class. What it is supposed to do is display random images in one applet. The images dont match the words and images dont match the wording. What am I doing wrong? Probably a few errors.
Super Class:
import java.awt.Color;;
public class Dukes {
private Color noseColor = Color.red; // default Dukes have red noses
private String action = "../../images/duke/dukeWave.gif"; //default Dukes are friendly
private String whatDoing = "Give me something to do";
private String message= "";
public Dukes() {
int rint = (int)(Math.random() * 3); // randomly generates a 0, 1, or 2
if (rint == 0)
[Code] .....
I've almost completed a Java class, but I've hit a snag on the final project. I have to design a code that will display an applet of a tortoise and hare racing each other. There are certain outcomes when a random integer between 1 and 10 is selected that either cause the animal to move forward or fall back. My code compiles correctly, but when it runs, only one of the two animals is displayed. How to fix it such that both animals will be displayed at the same time so I can view how they are in comparison to each other.
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.image.BufferedImage;
import java.applet.*;
import java.net.URL;
import java.util.*;

Random gen = new Random();
private int harePosition;
private int tortoisePosition;

String hour = (String) comboBox.getSelectedItem();
String filename = fileName.getText();
String date = ((JTextField)dateChooser.getDateEditor().getUiComponent()).getText();
String text = txtKeyword.getText();
String newline = "";
String directory = Directory.getText();
File path = new File(directory);

**Here is my question. I'm trying to use input and loop method to search for a file. The above code works but my problem is lets say I try to find 2 different text files**
1. billing-20140527[09].txt has
a)XGMS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
b)XGMS,2034-05-27 30:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
2. billing-20140527[10].txt has
a)XCGS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
b)HELO
I try to find the number 1 in both text files, if lets say I input the text file name is billing, I can find the number 1 in both text file and output them:
a) XGMS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
B)/> XCGS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
However, if I specify the text file name: billing-20140527[09].txt and find the number 1 inside the text file, it will only output:
a) XGMS,2014-05-27 10:08:04,122,PLAYER_VERIFY,VERIFY to LBA,0x580000,0xC0000,253040.
How can I do so? Because I can output the number 1 from both text files even though I specify the name.
I need to display my calculations in a table format using loops.
//Imports
import java.util.*;
import java.text.*;
public class YourLoanCalculator {
[code]....
The increments are correct, but I wanted them listed under the "Payment #:" column. I figure that if I do that, I can also correctly display the interest, principal, unpaid balance and total interest paid at that point, right?
I am checking how to do following task.
01. pickup the selected text file and read the line by line and output the text in to visual text pane.
what i did:.
01. I wrote code that read the text file and output in to jave console/ also some of the interface.
the code read txt file:
Java Code:
String fileName = "C:/Users/lakshan/Desktop/lawyer.txt";
File textFile = new File(fileName);
Scanner in = new Scanner (textFile);
while(in.hasNextLine()){
[code]....
so it will read any text file dynamically and output to the text pane in interface. I think scanner code must be execute after the select the file from the browser and set the scanned result in to variable. then later out put the var as string in some jswing component?
The problem is i want to replace some string text with foreign characters, but JTextArea returns plainText.
For Example:
str = new String();
str.replace('e', 'é');
textArea.setText(str);
but textArea returns plainText.
Write a program that reads in a line of text and then outputs that line of text first in all uppercase letters and then in all lowercase letters.
INPUT and PROMPTS. The program prompts for a line of text as follows: "Enter the text: " and then reads in an entire line of text as a String .
OUTPUT . There are four lines of output . The first line is "The text in all upper case is: ". The second line is the line that was read in, displayed in all uppercase. The third line is "The text in all lower case is: " and the fourth line is the original line that was read in, displayed in all lowercase.
CLASS NAMES. Your program class should be called ShoutAndWhisper.
This is what I have so far:
import java.util.Scanner;
public class ShoutAndWhisper
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
Scanner scannerObject = new Scanner (System.in);
System.out.println("Enter the text: ");
scannerObject.next();
System.out.println("The text in all upper case is: ");
I am working on a personal project and want to create a text editor to write my code. I am wondering how could I read the last input from the user and if say it was an open curly brace {, then like netbean's my editor will supply the closing curly brace. My java experience is limited but I have tried to read key board input and a few other options that did not work.

I have to write a program that reads the input from a text file!
Beware the Jabberwock, my son,
the jaws that bite, the claws that catch,
Beware the JubJub bird and shun
the frumious bandersnatch.
I should print the number of lines, the longest line, the number of tokens on each line and the length of the longest token on each line.
I was able to find the number of tokes in the line but im having having problems reading the longest word ,, my program gives me the number of letter of each line instead of only the number of letter of the longest word!!
this should be my output:
Line 1 has 5 tokens (longest = 11)
Line 2 has 8 tokens (longest = 6)
Line 3 has 6 tokens (longest = 6)
Line 4 has 3 tokens (longest = 13)
Longest line : the jaws that bite, the claws that catch,

I have looked in my book, online, youtube, yahoo answers and I want to figure this out. I found an answer on here that someone talked about java.awt but did not specific what.

View Replies View RelatedI'm using one method to take input from the user and append some text to it, then I am trying to return the value of the variable and use another method to print it out. But for some reason whenever I try doing this I can't print out anything and I only get a "null" output. Why this is happening?

The basic gist is it's "A program that reads in a text file that uses a specific input format and uses it to produce a formatted report for output."
Specifically :"For this lab you will write a Java program that produces a simple formatted report. The program will prompt the user to enter a file name. This file must contain information in a specific format (detailed below). Each "block" of the file contains information for one player in a competition -- the name of the player followed by a number of different scores that that player achieved. The program should find each player's average score, median score and best and worst scores and display them in a line on the final summary report. The program should also determine which player has the highest average score and which player has the lowest average score."
I get the following errors when I try and compile it:
Enter an input file name: Project11.txt
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException... -1
at java.util.ArrayList.elementData(Unknown Source)
at java.util.ArrayList.get(Unknown Source)
at Project11.getMedian(Project11.java:68)
at Project11.main(Project11.java:27)
I get that the error(s) reside in lines 68 and 27, among problem other areas, but I'm not exactly sure how I can fix them.
Here's my code:
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
public class Project11 {
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException{
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.print("Enter an input file name: ");
String input = in.nextLine();

For a project I have to create an online survey, I cannot use a per-made online survey system because I have really specific needs that no pre-made system can satisfy, so my idea would be to create it in java and store the data in some simple text file, which are fairly easy to work with in java. My question is, is it possible, and if yes how difficult is it, to put the entire thing online? What worries me isn't putting the applet itself online, but the text files that should collect the data, I already have the website to host it.

I like to know how to write root function in java applet. I know it in java function. Ex:
import java.lang.*;
public class Maths {
public static void main(String[] args) {
// get two double numbers numbers
double x = 9;
double y = 25;
// print the square root of these doubles
System.out.println("Math.sqrt(" + x + ")=" + Math.sqrt(x));
System.out.println("Math.sqrt(" + y + ")=" + Math.sqrt(y));
}
}
working fine. but If I tried in applet it's not working. Ex:
evap_trans = 0.0135 * SRAD * ( TMEAN + 17.78) * Math.sqrt(TMAX - TMIN);
If I execute above said formulae with out "Math.sqrt" results are ok. If I used then results shows ZERO.
