Javac Is Not Recognized As Internal Or External Command Error
Aug 25, 2014
I've installed the Java JDK onto my Windows 8 laptop and the first thing I need to do is run the compiler from the Command Prompt. The first prompt I enter is C:java -version. This worked fine, however when I try to enter the next prompt C:javac -version, I am getting the following screen and messages:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]
(c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:UsersMary>java -version
java version "1.8.0_20"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_20-b26)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.20-b23, mixed mode)
C:UsersMary>javac -version
'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
I have entered the path into the environment variables area within my control panel. Not too sure why the first prompt works, but the second doesn't...
I am reading the excellent book Algorithms. The author of this book is using his own libraries.
I have downloaded the libraries (it is a file called stdlib.jar) and I've store it in a directory called ~/Downloads(I am using a macbook pro).
Then I have created a project with IntelliJ Idea 14.1 using the default package (as it is the only way for a program to 'see' these libraries).
The program is running inside the ide, but because of the nature of this book, all the included code must be run from the command line.
The problem is that I cannot run for example the Average class from the command line because the system asks for the external library.
Specifically the error is :
I enter : java -cp . Average
and the Error I get is :
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: StdIn at Average.main(Average.java:11) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: StdIn at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:372)
[Code] ....
The Average class is the following :
public class Average { public static void main(String[] args) { //Average the numbers on StdIn double sum = 0.0; int cnt = 0;
So today i was trying to compile a simple script that used to work before on Sublime Text 2, an i got the following error;
javac: invalid flag: Usage: javac <options> <source files> use -help for a list of possible options
I already know the script works because i didn't change anything since the last time it work, but anyways just in case i tried running a HelloWorld program just to check it out and i got the same error. The i stop trying to compiling the HelloWorld on Sublime so I went to Terminal and i got the same exact error.
When I enter java -version in my console, I get java version jdk1.7.0_11 and running javac -version shows jdk1.7.0_11.
However, it seems that matlab could not find javac, thus, I am not able to compile my .m code into a .jar file. When I tried to compile .m code I got the following:
Java Code:
Error: An error occurred while shelling out to javac (error code = -1). Unable to build executable. Executing command: ""C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.0_11binjavac" mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
This is the directory of my java bin folder and javac.exe exists : CProgram FilesJavajdk1.7.0_11binjavac.exe? What should I check in order to correctly link Matlab to Java?
My program compiles and runs ok how ever when i open my Jinternal frame and click on one of the JLabels i get a error on the Cmd ther error reads as follows
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerException at JLabelAssignment.mouseClicked(JLabelAssignment.jav a:429) at java.awt.Component.processMouseEvent(Component.jav a:6508) at javax.swing.JComponent.processMouseEvent(JComponen t.java:3320)
When I am trying to run an applet in command prompt I am getting an error message saying: System cannot find the file specified.
Initially I compiled my applet using javac BubbleSort1.java it works fine But when I tried running this using: appletviewer BubbleSort1.html I m getting the above error. Anyhow, both the html file n the java file are in same folder in C drive. (windows 7) .....
I am trying to execute a program from the command prompt. I type java -jar zuul.jar (zuul is the name of my project) and I get a message that java is not recognized as an internal or external command. What do I do wrong?
I'm trying to use the javac -sourcepath option to compile superclasses without explicitly naming them. I've been looking at examples, other posts, and trying variations for a while without success.
I have:
package ActorBase0.classes; public class Bridge extends Place { ......
Place is also in package ActorBase0.classes and the source files are in the same directory .... ActorBase0sources
I have just tried to learn java this week [COLOR="#000000"]and I am being held back by this once installed java jdk I nav to the java file and the bin file and then the javac file to find that the below tab does not exist
A new window should pop up giving the properties of the javac, there should be an attribute called Location..I can see the location option in my documents but in no other folder
When does an internal cast actually happen? I am aware that compound assignment operator do an internal cast. Does it happen in Assignment 1?Assignment 2?Assignment 3?Assignment 4?
Java Code:
public class Parser{ public static void main( String[] args){ byte b=1; short s=1; int i=1; s=b;//Assignment 1 s<<=b;//Assignment 2 b<<=s;//Assignment 3 s +=i;//Assignment 4 } } mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
// set up the generator CMSSignedDataGenerator gen = new CMSSignedDataGenerator(); gen.addSigner(key, cert, CMSSignedDataGenerator.DIGEST_SHA224); gen.addCertificatesAndCRLs(certsAndCRLs); addsigner and addCertificatesAndCRLs are not found in netbeans.
Which version of Bouncy Castle and JDK version this supports?
I am just learning java now i have a problem where i have to run a test order on my internalOrder class from the orderTester class and i,m not sure how to do this ?
This is the code i have for my order class:
public static void testCase8(){ orders ords = new orders ("Pen", 8, -0.5); System.out.println("Test Case 8:" + " " + ords.getOrderDetails());
[Code] ....
This is the code for my Internal class
public final static double DISCOUNT = 0.4; public InternalOrder(String productName,int quantity ){ super(productName, quantity,DISCOUNT); } public void printInternalReport(){ System.out.println("Printing internal report ..."); }
Now my orderTest class is passed though orders class if you need that code i will put it up...
This code doesn't recognise the package ( and therefore class ) timetest3, when I try to import it. The package I try to reference/call, follows, and works fine.
import javax.swing.JOptionPane; import timetest3.TimeTest3; public class timetest4 { public static void main(String args[]) { TimeTest3 time = new TimeTest3(); time.setTime(13,45,52);
I am currently using notepad to create a Java program and using the command box to compile it and execute it and it has been working fine. I have the JDK version 7 so java.lang works which I know does not need to be imported. The Calendar method which should be recognized is not.
Here is the program. Cut this program and compile it in the command box. It will not recognize the Calendar method.
import java.util.*; class Practice4_2 { public static void main (String args[]) { Calendar cal = Calender.getInstance(); Date.now = new Date();
The compiler tells me that the variable after the while is not recognized.
What I especially don't understand is that the variable is defined and accepted in the character input and the swicth but later on is not recognized. I'm sure of this because I wrote the entire program, and then compiled it afterwards. I was therefore able to see the compiler advancing as the code was corrected
The error message is "cannot find symbol - variable choix"
It should be possible to let the javac create a subdirectory according to the file's package statement. So I have tried: Java Code: javac -d C: estMyApp.java mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
That always gives me the message that javac could not create the directory.
